Meow hi :D
Sry for the lack of updates! I've been having trouble getting comics lately :( I'm not even sure I got all the ones I needed to to make up for last week :(
Neways.. this is what I got this week :D
Batman - #674
Blue Beetle - #25
Green Lantern - #29
Legion of Superheroes - #40
Salvation Run - #5 (of 7)
For some reason I'm currently not feeling that enthusiastic about the comics (except for Blue Beetle xD) so this might be kind of a blah super short review :( I'm not having a very good day and I got cancelled on for something I was rly looking forward too :\ I apologize in advance :(
Batman - #674 - Weird :o And confusing :o I'm rly not that interested in this plot and it's been stretched out over such a long period of time that I'm just sorta "meh" about the whole thing :( I'm sorta curious about what happens next, but I didn't rly enjoy this issue :( 2/5
Blue Beetle - #25 - This is pretty much the most perfect conclusion you could come up with to end Rogers' 25 issue (more or less, there've been a couple filler issues) run on Blue Beetle! :D It's great and action packed, full of surprise appearaces (well maybe not that surprising) and lots of scenes that show just why Jaime is such a special and great hero! :D It stumbles a little at one point where it gets a little cliched, but everything else is just awesome and I dun think we could ask for nething more :D 5/5
Green Lantern - #29 - I dun rly know the "official" origin of Hal Jordan, so I can't tell you if this is accurate or not, but I did enjoy it and I thought it did show me a lot about Hal and how he came to be who he is now and stuff :) Not action packed and exciting, but I liked it! :D 3.5/5
Legion of Superheroes - #40 - I'm rly liking this current run of LoS :D It's cute and funny with a strong focus on characterization over action and forced plots and I rly like that :) Plus we finally get to see Brainy and he's a joy to see again :D And yus it's a bit of a teen drama/soap opera, but it's a teen drama done RIGHT! Sean McKeever could take some notes for Titans from Shooter. >:\ 4/5
Salvation Run - #5 (of 7) - Mrr... I dunno.. I rly liked SR when it started out but now it's just kinda.. more of the same... I dunno xD I was hoping for more characterization and less "name on name" fighting :\ However, the story is apparently going to move in a new interesting direction judging from the end of this issue and that intrigues me :) 3/5
:o
Yus, so that's it for this week :) I will hopefully have some reviews up tho I've had a very busy week and I have a busy weekend too so I dunno... we'll see! :D I apologize for all the busyness and everything lately tho :(
Bai :D

A small update :o
I know I didn't get anything up last week but it's cuz I didn't get comics last week :\ My life and schedule have been all over the place lately and my ability to get to a comic shop is rly limited right now so I can't get them on Wednesday or even Thursday each week :\
I got them today tho and whatever of last week's I could find. xD
I'll put the SSR up soon. And of course longer reviews for Blue Beetle and Legion of Superheroes and prolly others :] BB was SO GOOD IT MUST BE REVIEWED THO! :D I am trying to keep up my streak of always reviewing BB and Supergirl comics :] (my hiatus doesn't count) xD
Also I watched Stargate SG-1: The Ark of Truth finally xD I'll review that too when I have time. :] I have a TON of nitpicks (and bigger than nit picks) for that movie xD
And I'll hopefully review the last episode of Jericho too :) So rushed xD I'm sad that it's finished tho :( I WANNA SEE THE CIVIL WAR!!! DAMN YOU CBS DAMN YOU TO PINK HELL! >:O
I dropped Catwoman and Teen Titans due to disinterest and money issues. :\ I'm going to miss Miss Martian, but I rly am not enjoying McKeever's run on Titans >:| Also money issues :(
Neways, that is all :)
Reviews up soon!

Week of March 12 2008 Super Short Reviews v_v
Meow :(
I'm rly tired so I'm going to make this fast and go to bed :(
I FINALLY got a chance to get my comics today so I'm pleased xD
Cuz I'm tired I'm just gonna quickly say what I got:
Booster Gold - #7
Green Lantern Corps - #22
JLA Classified - #54
Superman - #674
Wonder Woman - #18
:o This is the last JLA Classified :( I liked it even tho others didn't just cuz I like stories that are set in older continuity and older teams and I find that neat :D Esp since I'm not that enamoured with the current JLA xD
Neways here are the SSR :D
Booster Gold - #7 - Good :D Tho a little predicatable since we get a heel turn of a char I'm sure we all alrdy guessed was ebil. xD However, I luff dystopian alternate universe stories and I just enjoy the "what if the bad guy succeeded" idea and to see what would happen and stuff, so I thoroughly enjoyed this story for the most part :D 4/5
Green Lantern Corps - #22 - Not a lot happens in this story, ultimately, but we get to see the Guardians actually do things that aren't ebil and mysterious and we also get a little more character development of Boddika and her ppls which is cool :D Not exciting but not bad :D 3.5/5
JLA Classified - #54 - The story itself is pretty generic, tho I guess for an end to a series, it's a good way to go, and the ending is a neat little "this is what the Justice League is about" thing which is a good way to end this book I think. :) I rly liked the double storyline running concurrently tho where the past story is being told at the top of the pages while the present story is being told at the bottom :D My only question is... did the JLA KILL the villain at the end!? :OOOO I thought they didn't kill.. even like... when they have to... :o Neways :D It isn't a bad story but it is kinda generic :| However it's a pretty satisfying ending to a pretty entertaining arc :] Not a bad way to end the series on! 3/5
Superman - #674 - I dunno who this guy Superman is fighting and I dun rly care since he seems like "generic bad guy #29423" or something. xD Just like, at least we're TOLD who he is, but still! Umm.. there seems to be a lot of plots running at once and it seems a little crowded sometimes. This is clearly leading up to something bigger but I was just mostly bored with this issue. :( 2/5
Wonder Woman - #18 - Wonder Woman fighting Khund = Awesome. Other stuff in the book, not so awesome. :\ I'm not rly sold on the WW/Nemmy relationship at all, also I dunno.. the story rly didn't GRAB me, and things seem to just be happening out of the blue. It IS nice to see more involvement from WW's regular cast tho and development of those characters and stuff. :) But I didn't rly like this issue much :( On a side note I had a dream about Khunds capturing me as Supergirl (before I read this issue)! :O It was very very very odd xD 1.5/5
Kk... XD That's it. Maybe it's cuz I'm tired that I feel so blah about everything :\ I'll hopefully put up some longer reviews when I get my 50 hours of sleep! :D
I am SO tired v_v
Good night! :D

Jericho - S2E5 "Termination for Cause" Review :)
Jericho - S2E5 "Termination for Cause"

Synopsis: Mimi is taken to the hospital to be treated for her gunshot wound. Jake talks to Major Beck to try to get him to intervene and stop Goetz but Beck and his men are called away to New Bern to stop insurgents there. He says he'll be back in the morning and not to harm Goetz.
Jake, realizing that Goetz will come after Mimi to eliminate all evidence that he has been stealing money from Jennings and Ralls, brings all of his rangers into the hospital in order to protect Mimi. Goetz hears that Mimi is alive and was in the house when Ravenwood fought with Bonnie (YAYBONNIEKICKINGASS!) and goes to get her. He and Jake have a confrontation but Jake refuses to allow him in and threatens violence if he tries.
Stanley, upset at the death of his sister, goes to see Bonnie's body and Eric accompanies him. Jake orders every entrance barracaded as Goetz has power cut to the hospital. Darcy, who was in the hospital getting medicine for her children, is recruited byAasif Mandvi Dr. Dhuwalia to assist him in surgery.
Hawkins talks to his informant on the phone. He discovers that the conspiracy behind the September Attacks goes all the way to President Tomarchio who once worked for Jennings and Ralls and that most of his cabinet is made up of former J&R employees as well. :o
Russell and another New Bern resident confront Heather and tell her that her actions have led to Beck's crackdown on New Bern and that they were sent to kill her! :O
Back at the hospital, Goetz brings the wife of one of Jake's rangers to the seige in order to get him to leave Jake. Everybody gets worried that their families will be threatened. :(
Hawkins goes home to find members of Ravenwood there. They tell him that Darcy (his wife) is being held hostage at the hospital and that he must come to talk her into leaving. Hawkins finds that suspicious and disarms the guards! :D He holds one of them at gunpoint.
Darcy talks to Mimi who realizes that Bonnie died defending her. D:
Eric tries to tell Stanley that it's not his fault but he says that he doesn't blame himself. He tells Eric to give him some time with his sister where he signs to her and tells her how proud he is of her and to tell their parents he loves them.
Hawkins brings the guard he captured in his home to the hospital where he uses him to get close enuf to the 2 guards guarding one of the entrance to kill them. He then asks Jimmy who is guarding the entrance to let him in.
Goetz is told that some of his men have dissapeared. Concerned, he calls Fred, who is the mole he has inside Jake's men. Emily notices that he is acting suspicious.
Russell tells Heather that he's joined a resistance led by Constantino to oppose Beck b/c he feels New Bern is being treated unfairly by Beck b/c they were aggressors in the war with Jericho. He says that the resistance was going well until Heather gave Beck information on their movements and that Heather has to stop. Heather says as long as they are allied with Constantino she will keep helping Beck. Russell says that they're going to try to capture Goetz and execute him, and if they fail in that then Constantino will send different ppl to kill Heather next time :(
Back at the hospital, Jake and Hawkins tie up and gag the guard and Jake explains the situation to Hawkins. They talk to Mimi who explains to them that she discovered Goetz was embezzeling money from Jennings and Ralls and that he killed Bonnie to get Mimi's ledger that proved it. She figures he destroyed it (which he did). However, the proof can be reconstituted if somebody had access to J&R's private data. Hawkins calls his contact and gets the private email address and contact information of one of the heads of J&R. He gives that information to Mimi.
Back in the hospital, the Ravenwood operative that Hawkins captured has escaped! :OOO Jake surmises that he had help from the inside and Emily points out Fred as the probable culprit. Jake and Hawkins decide to use him.
Mimi calls Trish who is able to use her access as a J&R employee to get the data necessary to prove Goetz's guilt. Trish tells Mimi that she's responsible for Goetz finding out about the ledger and therefore responsible for Bonnie's death. :(
Jimmy and another ranger work on digging a hole thru one of the walls of the hospital. :O
Jake and Hawkins seek out the Ravenwood guy and defeat him in a shoot out when Hawkins successfully counts the bullets the guy used and catches him while he's forced to reload. :D YAY HAWKINS! xD
They lie and tell Fred that they were unable to capture him and that they have to pull guards off one of the exits and that Fred must cover it by himself. Fred calls Goetz and tells him to attack that entrance.
Minutes later, Goetz and his men rush in but find the hospital deserted. They rescue their captured guard who tells them that he heard Jake and company talking about another way out of the hospital and directs them to the tunnel. Goetz realizes that Fred was made as the mole and believes that they escaped to a farm. He orders his men out to meet reinforcements! :O
When they leave, Jake and company come out of a room where they have been hiding and confront Fred who says he had no choice but to help them b/c they were going to take his farm away. He tells them that Goetz is planning to meet more troops before attacking.
Jake, Hawkins, Eric, Emily and others wait in ambush where Goetz is making his rendez-vous. More Ravenwood ppls arrive but as Jake suspects, they aren't on Goetz's side at all. Coming out of the truck are Trish and the regional director for Ravenwood. They disarm Goetz's men and Trish informs Goetz that he's fired. They then leave, leaving Goetz to fend for himself. It's then that Jake and friends attack! :D
At the same time Russell and men from New Bern attack! :O In the ensuing fight, all of Goetz's men are killed except Goetz. Russell and Jake fight over who has custody of Goetz when Stanley drives up and puts a gun to Goetz's head! :OOOOOOOOOO After a short hesitation he kills him! D: Hawkins says that at this point it doesn't matter who gets Goetz b/c Beck will bring down his anger on both towns once he finds out Goetz is dead. They give Goetz's body to New Bern which strings him up outside the town for all to see.
Review: :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I WAS RIGHT xDD Well not TTLLY but enuf! I said that New Bern and Jericho should share Goetz (which they kinda did) and that should string him up between the towns. :O Also that everybody should get 1 shot at him, but oh well XDDD
I wrote the plot by memory btw so some of the events might be out of order but I think I got all the important points! :D Also I dun have a TV review blog so I'm just gonna stick this here! MAYBE I'LL DO OTHER TV REVIEWS IN THE FUTURE TOO!!! YOU NEVER KNOW!!! DUN MAKE ME MAD OR I JUST MIGHT DO MORE!!!!!!!! XDDDDDDDD
I liked how Stanley DIDN'T blame himself and was pretty blameful of Goetz :D It's nice that he's not blaming himself since it WASN'T his fault.
I also liked that Stanley acknowledged that Bonnie died protecting Mimi and it wasn't treated PURELY as this death just to give him incentive to kill Goetz. Tho he did neways. XD At least, as I said, if you're going to WiR, that was the way to do it, where Bonnie goes out fighting and taking out a ton of Ravenwood before dying to the bad bad bad super bad ultimate bad guy. :D
But still... poor Bonnie :( I know my friend immediately went "poor Stanley" but I was like poor Bonnie. :( I mean it's automatic for ppl to think of the guy affected by the death of a girl like that in TV and stuff.. where it's like "oh.. poor him.. now he must get revenge!" but srsly. She died! D: I feel bad for Stanley too.. but I'm still so upset that Bonnie DIED! At least she died fighting as I keep saying tho :D
It is saucesome tho what happened :D I always feel let down when major villains are killed and defeated sorta... accidentally... when you dun feel the heroes RLY showed the villain up and rly proved that they beat him. More like "oh circumstances conspired where we ended up defeating you".
Also there was no BS "he has a gun!" moment where they're FORCED to kill Goetz b/c he tried to backstab them or something. >_>
As usual I enjoy Jake's panicky experessions xD Like at the beginning when he confronted Goetz outside the hospital and Goetz was all "dun mess with me bitch!" XD Jake was like O_O But as usual that means >:| in Jake faces :D
Also that he's showing himself to be a rly capable leader. Which he always was, but I always felt he was a little uncomfortable in doing it, but lately he's rly evolved into somebody who is willing to take charge and give orders and stuff :D And it was SO cool to see all the rangers with rifles and stuff guarding Mimi's door and just protecting the hospital from Ravenwood. It's nice that an episode that featured the end of a major villain lived up to expectations like this :) I rly liked how it was like a big showdown between the good guys and bad guys, and also how it wasn't just a big fight, it was a game. :]
I guess that's what I rly rly liked from the beginning of the episode! :D I think it was set up beautifully with Beck and his troops leaving for the night (tho it's odd they would take all of them troops or at least such a large amount of them out that nobody noticed that there was an armed stand off going on at the hospital XD) and making it so that it was like a seige. They had to hold off Ravenwood until Beck came back. :]
In a way I think this episode benefitted from the short season just cuz if it was another 20+ episode season, I think this might just have been a seige episode where they had to hold out until Beck came back and chased Goetz away. xD Or something... I've noticed that so far this season has been RUSHED. Where everything is plot plot plot and 4 episodes are crammed into one. Sometimes it hurts the episode (as I believe Episode 2 felt EXTREMELY rushed) but sometimes it means that there's no episodes where we're like "*sigh* back to the status quo until we near the end of the season" or "*sigh* have something HAPPEN alrdy!" :D And it's rly great to see plot points created and resolved fast. XD In a way it's a change from all the dragging out of mysteries and sekrits and OMGMAYBEBIGREVEALSARECOMINGSOMEDAY that's become so vogue in TV nowadays.
It's fun to have lotsa stuff happen quickly :D
But neways, I rly like how it felt like this seige, and it was like trying to hold them off and stuff, and it had a very dramatic, very important feel to it and the FEELING of it was just so.. awesome to me :] I rly like "seige thru the night" stories when they're done RIGHT. :] I dunno why but those are just plots that I rly enjoy and situations that I luff seeing chars in just to see how they react and Jericho, at it's core, is a very character driven show. :D This episode was just great for playing off of that strength :D
I luff how they outsmarted Goetz btw, even if it was a little cliched. xD I luff the "1 step ahead of you" thing and the "he thinks that we think that he thinks" stuff they used at the end :D See, what made Goetz so HATED was that he always found a way to get at ppl. That he was so cocky and protected and had answers to things. So it was great for him to get pwned the way he did, to be tricked, humiliated, fired and killed while on his knees. XDDD Very satisfying!!! >:D
I'm vengeful I know. xD But it's just.. if you're gonna build a villain up so much there should be a satisfying pay off and they gave it to us :D When Ravenwood started pulling ppl's wives and loved ones out I was worried that Goetz was gonna take the upper hand again or that it would keep going on but it didn't :D Plus I luff that Hawkins showed up just cuz he's been kinda uninvolved in the non-conspiracy-related storylines and it was great to see Hawkins and Jake team up and just kick pure butt like that! :D
I felt SO SAFE when they were together and just like NOTHING BAD CAN HAPPEN NOW JERKFACES CUZ WE HAVE HAWKINS AND JAKE TOGETHER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:D
I luff that everybody got roles to play, that Emily had an important role, even tho it was a small one, and that Mimi and Trish played key roles :D It was a rly nice scene to show Trish feeling so guilty about Bonnie's death. :]
It's odd how quickly Trish became a "good guy" and esp since she seemed so suspicious in the first episode of this season. :o But then it IS the 7 episode rushed season, so they had to rly push her and Beck into the good guy category FAST, and it STILL feels odd that I shouldn't trust them and still kinda dun. I mean I've only known them for 5 episodes, and barelyk now much ABOUT them, so it's just weird. XD Still I'm getting used to feeling like Trish is just good. It's just weird to meet a GOOD character that isn't rly that complex other than being GOOD. :o She can be Jericho's Supergirl! :D
Stanley signing to Bonnie was very very sweet. :) I luff Bonnie and I luff how her character is played by a deaf actress and it doesn't feel like it's a "we're throwing in deafness as a gimmick" thing. It was part of her character and it never BECAME ALL SHE WAS nor was it brushed aside like it meant nothing. :] I think it's so great that Stanley acknowledges her heroism and sacrifice and bravery. That she is acknowledged as a hero and not as a victim purely (tho sometimes the episode still played it in a way where if you didn't know you'd guess she just was killed by Goetz in cold blood for Stanley to be mad). But it was still a very sweet scene :D
BUT SHE's DEAD!!!!!!!
*whines*
D:
I'm still kinda split on her death D: On one hand, yus she clearly was killed b/c the plot needed a sympathetic victim for Stanley to get angry and to give Goetz MAJOR HEAT. Killing girls b/c of the way our society looks at the gender imbalance, does get heat fast.
ETA: Having just watched the commentary track, the producers confirmed that they came up with the idea b/c they needed "something so horrible" that would make ppl realize how evil the government is and they thought "well what if they shot a 17 year old girl?" Which is the thing. Shooting a 17 year old boy wouldn't be the same. Women, esp girls are seen as helpless, innocent and weak in our society, so there's more sympathy towards them as victims, so they're used more often to gain sympathy for the heroes, to motivate the male heroes and to gain hatred for the villain. :\ Nuking 20+ cities is not enuf cuz it's too vague and nebulous for ppl. You need to show a real live dead person and young girls are the most sympathetic dead ppl b/c of our society's unbalanced views on the genders :\
HOWEVER I rly LUFF how they decided that if she was gonna die she'd die FIGHTING and FIGHTING EFFECTIVELY. :D And to me that made a HUGE difference and it was just GREAT to see it happen :] And that she was acknowledged as having saved Mimi's life and stuff :] And just.. SHE KICKED RAVENWOOD'S ASS!! Except for Goetz cuz he has a power level of 1000000000000000. :\ So I still applaud Jericho's writers for that :D Also she wasn't created TO die, she was an established character and therefore at least she died as a character and not a prop with breasts purely to get a "OMG U KILLED A GIRL!" response. :] It's a little sad when that is something special to be applauded. XD Even if she did die for the "female victim" effect she at least died fighting and NOT being weak and helpless :] Tho having a dead girl is still seen as "worse" than a dead guy and "more horrible". :\ But at least she died a hero and not a victim. :)
AT LEAST JERKFACEWHATSHISNAMEDALE ISN'T IN THIS EPISODE!!!
God I *hate* Dale! >:| He's SO annoying and his mercernary turn this season has been unconvincing. :\ I still hate him >:O String him up with Goetz! XDD
I wish Aasif had more scenes. :( I luff him as Kenchy :D It would have been nice for him to get a role in beating Goetz since he has so much history with him, but he *did* heal Mimi. :D
What happened to Darcy's children without the medication for a night? Are they okay? :O It seemed like an excuse for her to be at the hospital at the right place and right time b/c it was pretty much brushed off and ignored. XD Not that it IS important, but with Darcy and Robert (Hawkins) both out, are they gonna be ok? Esp if they're sick without medication D:
I like Jake's way of dealing with ppl. How he let that guy go when Goetz threatened his wife and how he told Fred to go home when they confronted him as the mole at the end and not like "YOU BASTARD IMMA SHOOT YOU NOW", just like "fine k, go away now" :] I like how nice Jake is! :D But he can also be plotty and serious :D
Hawkins + Jake = invincible tho. :O Superman and Batman my cute booty XD Hawkins and Jake are the REAL World's Finest! When they're together there's NOTHING THAT CAN STOP THEM!!!! XDDD I also like how they're allies and trust each other but not like super great friends with a strong past together or nething. :] They respect each other, they trust each other and they're great allies but it's not super mooshy or nething which makes sense. :D And that they came together sorta without knowing each other at all :D
The whole Jennings and Ralls thing is sorta random tho. I mean just cuz they just recently took a huge major role and that... I agree it sounds a little cliche for the whole thing to have been planned by a giant company, cuz y'know, companies are ebil! XD I dunno... maybe it's all the capitalist propaganda I've absorbed over the years XD It just feels like it shouldn't be. But I accept that it is. And it makes sense in a way. Like ppl in control of that powerful a company might think "why dun we control the whole country?" I just hope there's a more interesting explanation than that tho, since they're re-writing textbooks and stuff to suit their more extremist idea of what America should be. And therefore, it seems more than a company wanting control than ppl who seriously want to reshape America and who are ideologues who have this vision of what Americans should think and believe. :O
I do like that J&R used their own contingency plan that they worked up for the old government in case of nuclear attacks on major cities, as a way to both enact that very scenario AND to quickly take over from it. :O It's sneaky and ebil and very insidious :D
I hope that now that Goetz is out of the way it's nonstop to Valente and Tomarchio and BEYOND! :D
I rly like that the producers have planned two endings for the season finale. One cliffhanger in case they get renewed and one that ties things up in case they don't. :D That's rly smart b/c having a cliffhanger when a series is cancelled is RLY ANNOYING but tying things up just to have another season afterwards surprise you can rly hurt the quality of the next season too when it's obv the writers are quickly trying to add more plot to a wrapped up story (like Babylon 5 and to a lesser degree JLU where they got surprise!renewed after wrapping everything up at the end of their supposedly last seasons).
In a way I'm hoping this IS the last season cuz I can't see much else for the next season. All the secrets have been exposed, the bad guys are revealed. We know who was behind the attacks, power and stuff is restored, we know who Hawkins rly is, we know what Jake did while he was away, we know EVERYTHING rly. All that sekritive stuff in season 1 has been answered. Nothing is mysterious nemore. Which kinda dissapoints me :( But at the same time things are building to a good natural conclusion and it's better that than to DRAG THINGS OUT FOREVAR AND EVAR just to have more seasons. :] So it would be nice just to get a nice ending to everything. Beat the bad guys, unite America and everything is great :D
THO
A third season might deal with how America deals with all this. Their status in the world now and if they can truly unite after having the country split literally into two seperate nations. :o Also cats. The third season would need more cats! :D
It IS hilarious tho that this unstoppable fascist government/conspiracy thing is stopped in it's tracks b/c they decided to walk into a tiny town called Jericho and the actions of just a handful of ppl who happen to be in the town completely destroy this juggernaut that brought down the most powerful country in the world! XD
It's like how in sci fi, every powerful alien empire or species or entity that has roamed space unchallenged gets completely PWNED OR DESTROYED when it reaches a tiny backwater planet called Earth. XD I just feel SO BAD for them sometimes. How EMBARESSING! XD
If I were a bad guy and I ran into some tiny place that had an overabundance of hero units in it, who were stronger, faster, smarter, nicer, kinder, more charismatic, and just BETTER, than everybody else in the whole damn universe, I'd just ignore them and move on to the next planet/town! XDD
NEWAYS... hrm...
What else did I miss. Eric rly didn't do much this episode other than talk to Stanley. I hope he does more later :D He's SUPPOSEDLY acting mayor now. He should may more! :D
Ohh.. and poor New Bern. I suppose a confrontation with Constantino will come tho, hopefully by next episode since we only have TWO left. He still needs to pay for his actions and I think he will :] Unless he turns good, but it seems more likely that Beck will finally make a full blown face turn :D HOPEFULLY!!! I am borderline about Beck and I WANT to like him and I hope he gives me lots of reasons to next episode! :D
HRMF I think New Bern is right to resist the occupation tho. It seems unfair since power and stuff is back. They shouldn't be punished for their insanity just cuz.. well they thought that everything was hopeless and gone and there was no more civilization out there to help, but there is now :] It just sucks to live under military rule in general tho D:
I guess we all knew Stanley would kill Goetz. XD Regardless of how she died, Bonnie DID die for his character's personal revenge arc :( *sighs* I'm kinda glad he shot him just cuz it causes drama and I doubt many ppl rly blame him tho it is still in cold blood. Still Goetz is such a giant asshole! >:O And I guess it'd be less satisfying if he just died by a stray bullet in the shoot out. Plus he clearly wanted to live since he surrendered. >_> It was SO nice to see him as the underarmed, outgunned person for once being surrounded and shot at by Jericho and New Bern ppls, ppl that he's hurt and killed.
Stringing him up reminds me or Morden's head being put on a pike in B5. :D It was a very fitting end to a horrible villain. >:|
I like when Stanley threw up after shooting Goetz tho. He must be SO broken up from EVERYTHING that's happened and KILLING A MAN in cold blood. It's nice to see he's NOT ttlly consumed by rage and that it DID take such a toll out of him. I like that it didn't treat his execution of Goetz like this great awesome thing that makes him feel great or something. :]
I think this is a great episode in general. It wasn't too rushed like some of the other Season 2 episodes but it didn't drag at all. It went at a fast pace, had great character moments but also advanced the plot in important ways as well :D I think this is prolly one of the best Jericho episodes I've seen yet and I rly liked it a lot :D
Oh and on a random note, I luff how Jericho still uses episode titles that's more than one word like most shows seems to have taken up doing. :O Esp like SMALLVILLE and it's "let's use one rly obvious generic word for every episode" title which I find boring and uncreative. XD I miss the Star Trek "phrases as titles" thing and stuff XD I guess I just like interesting titles where it seemed like they thought about it a little outside of "the episode is about aliens, let's call this episode "Alien" or, the episode is about somebody being afraid, let's call the episode "Afraid" ". XD
Neways next episode Beck is gonna be crazy and mad and stuff. I can't wait but I also want to wait b/c there's only 2 episodes left and given how bad the ratings have been, Jericho prolly WUN get a third season :(
If that happens tho at least they went out with a bang and an exciting 2nd season that wrapped everything up nicely! :D
And I guess that's another reason I suddenly wrote this review. :\ Just to give it a little more attention even if it's very very little since I'm not like super popularly read or nething. But I rly luff the show and I want to at least point ppl at it before it's cancelled. :]
YAY JERICHO!!!

Darcy, who was in the hospital getting medicine for her children, is recruited by
Hawkins talks to his informant on the phone.

Teen Titans: Year One - #3 (of 6) Review
Teen Titans: Year One - #3 (of 6)

Synopsis: Wonder Girl flies to the UN where she sees Wonder Woman fighting UN Peacekeepers. She saves them but is confused and seeks the help of Robin, Aqualad, Speedy and Kid Flash. She cries.. alot.
Robin determines that they must team up to stop their mentors who have now gone bad. He assigns them to take on the mentors that aren't related to each teen hero in order to take away the advantage the adult heroes have which is that they know their sidekicks well.
Robin and Aqualad and Kid Flash take out Wonder Woman. Wonder Girl and Speed take out The Flash. Robin, Flash and Speedy defeat Aquaman and Wonder Girl and Aqualad capture Green Arrow. xD
They meet in the old JLA headquarters where a noncorporeal being called Antithesis appears and tells them that they've weakened him by defeating the heroes under his control but he will still destroy them. Batman appears and beats up the young heroes, but Robin manages to talk him down, telling him that he's becoming what he hates: a criminal. Batman snaps out of it and Antithesis fades away swearing revenge.
They free the heroes and there are hugs all around :D Kid Flash wonders what they should name their new team and Wonder Girl suggests they name themselves after the Titans of Greek mythology. Aqualad adds in "Teen" and the Teen Titans are born! :o
However, Batman drags Robin away from them to continue on with his duties as sidekick. D:
Review: I would have thought there'd be more to the Titans learning to be a team and having to struggle to defeat their mentors. :o That was rly.. fast :o It was just like "let's beat them up!" then they do! >_>
Donna cries a lot :o I dun mean frequently. Just like... water gushes all over the place :o Is that.. normal for her? XD I guess this is in keeping with her char from the original stories tho that she was a very stereotypical girly girl? :\ I dunno I never read them XD It's just what I hear :o
Antithesis seems boring. And I think there's an error in the dialogue involving him too. :o When Batman approaches a downed Robin, Antithesis speaks thru him and says "The most evil the JLA commits, the stronger I become."
"The MOST evil?" He means "The MORE evil" right? o_O I wonder if that was intentional and Antithesis just can't speak english or something XD or an error that slipped past the editors. o.o
I like that Robin talked Batman down and used Batman's willpower and righteousness to beat Antithesis' control :D I was just expecting a little more in the take down of the OTHER heroes. Is Superman under Antithesis' control too or just coincidentally the mentors of the Titans? Cuz that would be bad if Antithesis had Superman :(
Also the "let's be the Titans!" thing is.. I dunno.. very pat. xD It's just like "let's get from A to B" and they do. From the first couple of issues I had been expecting a lot more characterization and character moments, maybe more development of the characters as they are forced to defeat the world's greatest heroes. Instead there's not a lot of that and it's mostly things happening but we dun even get to rly see them happening :(
So that was dissapointing to me :\ Maybe it's cuz this story has been told before and this is just a re-telling, but it would be nice for more modern Titans fans who aren't familiar with the original story (like me! xD) to get a little more :D
The art is rly cute tho and I think it rly livens up the book and makes it more fun to read and enjoy :) I guess we'll see where the final 3 issues go XD I just kinda was hoping for a little more for this issue since they were fighting their mentors. :o
Angelwings Rating: 2.5 crying Donnas out of 5 funny speaking Antithesises
Recommendation: Maybe pick it up if you're following the series or a fan of the original Titans, but I wouldn't recommend it to readers that aren't invested in either the TT or this mini :\

Green Lantern - #28 Review
Green Lantern - #28

Synopsis: On Ysmault, a demon named Atrocitus beats up on the demon Qull who told the prophecy of the fall of the GLC to Abin Sur when he was on the planet. He blames Qull for making the Guardians leave them on Ysmault instead of transferring them to the Sciencells on Oa. He kills Qull with the first Red Lantern in his rage saying that Qull's death will lead him to freedom and revenge on the Guardians and who he believes is still the greatest Green Lantern: Sinestro.
Meanwhile on Oa, Laira stands trial for killing Amon Sur in cold blood. Alpha Lantern Bodikka finds her guilty. With the Alpha Lanterns now in place and functioning, the Guardians add the 2nd new law to the book of Oa: lethal force can be used on all enemies of the Green Lanterns. :o
Hal visits Sinestro who explains to him that he knew the Guardians would go this path b/c they believe the only way to avoid the prophecy that Abin Sur brought back from Ysmault is to destroy all powers of the emotional spectrum. :o Sinestro believes that while the Guardians will not be able to prevent the prophecy from happening, when the Blackest Night arrives, the GLC will be so feared and powerful in the universe that they will be able to crush any foe that opposes them.
The Guardians gather, worried about a flash of red in space which they believe is the birth of the Red Lantern Corps, the corps based on hate and rage. The Anti-Monitor scarred Guardian who is sekritly ebil appears and tells them that there is somebody out there calling himself Agent Orange. :o
Elsewhere, the Controllers, rivals of the guardians, believe that they must find and harness the orange light in order to keep up pace with the Guardians.
Hannu takes Laira back to her homeworld when the ship is breached and a red ring finds Laira! :O Red foam bubbles out of her mouth and then she appears in a red version of her GL outfit and calls herself Red Lantern! :OO
Review: :O I'm rly enjoying this slow build up to the Blackest Night event in 09 :D I know I complained about event fatigue and rly I AM tired of it, but at least it should be slowly built up instead of just sprung on us like Amazons Attack which was randomness personafied. >.<;;; I think this way we know what's coming and we can see how things get there without things being rushed or nething and with the ability to tell other stories in between :D
I had to do some wikiing to figure out what was going on on Ysmault but that's ok. xD Hopefully a little more backstory will be provided for ppl who aren't familiar like me. :] But in general I thought that this story which is deeply rooted in Green Lantern history and canon is fairly accessible to ppl who aren't well-versed in GL mythos like me. xD
All the female lost Lanterns are slowly turning into odd things! :O I wonder if something will happen to Arisia XD Or if she counts. >_> I munno, I'm just being weird :D
I know that Ganthet said that the more extreme the emotion, the more control it has over the user. So does that mean that Laira is under the control of the ring now? Is that what the red foam coming out of her mouth was, or does it just mean she has less control over the hatred and rage in her and she's "controlled" by that but not "mind controlled" in the sense we think where her actions are her own? :D I like the idea of just having those emotions represented by the ring be more at the forefront, and it seems like that's what it is :D
Also having a former Lantern and "big name" like Laira represent the Red Lanterns to start is a great idea and I think will help to introduce us to the Red Lanterns and stuff :]
Poor Sinestro. xD He's so right but also so wrong. Since we know the Black Lanterns are death, killing just makes the problem worse, and while his intentions were to help, he's only pushing them TOWARDS the prophecy XD
It's neat that the Red Lanterns want to go after him tho. :o Will they send Laira or will it be this Atrocitus guy? XD And does every evil alien have a name that coincidentally comes from an English word? Atrocitus, Despero, Sinestro XD
I guess that the Red Lanterns (the actual physical object) are powered by blood or something tho? Cuz Atrocitus said that Qull's blood will give him the power he needs. :o
I like how they are subtley playing up the Controllers greed to unseat the Guardians and have a corps equal to theres in their search for the Orange Light. :o However Ganthet said that it would be controled by "a being whose greed knows no bounds" so maybe it's not the Controllers? :o I guess it's this person called "Agent Orange"? I munno. As I said I'm not ttlly versed in this but I like being in the dark and just bopping along and finding stuff out as it happens! :D
Um... I guess that's it. :D Oh.. and the sekritly ebil Guardian is as usual suspicious. :o I'm shocked the other Guardians are okay with her sneakily always being away and stuff XD
So yus :] I am enjoying this so far, even when things are kinda slow, b/c it's a build up to something bigger and I'm enjoying watching things slowly unfold knowing that there's a big payoff coming that's alrdy set :D
Angelwings Rating: 4 out of 5 Red Lanterns :o
Recommendation: Def pick it up if you're a Green Lantern fan and I'd also recommend it for ppl who want to get in on the build up to Blackest Night :D

The Atom - #21 Review
The Atom - #21

Synopsis: Ryan suspects that whatever's causing the problems in Ivytown should be found in his blood if it's related to usage of the belt. He shrinks himself into a sample of his own blood and finds a weird creature organism thing. :o It tries to kill hiim and he escapes and grows big again.
He sleeps for 3 days ignoring calls from the Dean, his dad and Jia.
Ryan grabs Panda and tells him to help him figure out what's in his blood. He blows up a sample of his blood and tells Panda to freeze one of the organisms so they can study it. However when Panda tries to, the organism grabs him and grows huge and attacks Ryan! :O
Review: Yus that's rly all that happened in this issue. >_>
It was mostly a lot of him angsting while being in his blood. :\
This new creative team doesn't seem to "get" Ryan, at least not from how Simone wrote him and developed him :\ Ryan here is mean, he's a lot angrier and seems to have a real edge to him, instead of the happier, more optimistic and tongue-in-cheek Ryan that Simone wrote. :] I miss that Ryan :(
And since when does Ryan cut Panda and the professors out of his life and his research? He's always had them helping him in the past, but now he's just all super angry loner? o.O It makes no sense that he'd have nobody monitor him trying something risky lying going so small into his own blood D: It's just more stuff that makes the characterization feel off. :(
Panda also seems less like Ryan's best friend than somebody annoying who Ryan tolerates :(
Why does Jia suddenly care about him? She always just seemed to be using him. Maybe she's up to it again? I'm glad that Ryan put her picture down tho. It's about time he got over her considering the flimsy circumstances he met her in in the first place (saw her at a dance... wow.. that's a lot of interaction! >.<) and he has Giganta now doesn't he? I mean srsly they had actual chemistry xD Tho she's on Salvation Run tho :( It's sad to see that cut short by another DC crossover D: But still, so he should be way over Jia. XD
It was neat to hear about Ryan's thoughts regarding his mom's death due to cancer and his own fears that one day cancer will claim him too. I think that rly added something to his character and stuff :]
But other than that... nothing much else happened :( Just small creatures in his blood and then big creatures coming out of his blood :O
>_>
I guess we'll see where this goes in the next issue but this one didn't impress me at all :(
Stupid daylight saving time XD I need to go to bed :( I was hoping to get the GL review up but I have a lot of thoughts on that and I'm too tired to write them out right now... hopefully soon tho! :D
Neways.. this issue was boring rly and the characterization was all off. I wouldn't recommend it :(
Angelwings Rating: 2 out of 5 angry Ryans
Recommendation: Maybe for hardcore Atom fans, but otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this book since not much happens at all, and the characterization is all off :\

Supergirl - #27 Review
Supergirl - #27

Synopsis: Karate Action Supergirl promises to save the boy with cancer that she saved last issue. A weird man in a suit appears and freezes time and shoots the boy with a kryptonite bullet that Supergirl catches but hurts her. :( She falls down, affected by the Kryptonite. The strange man prepares to kill her but Superman manages to laser his suit with his heat vision.
His suit leaks some weird energy and him and Supergirl are teleported elsewhere. With the Kryptonite now gone, Supergirl defeats the guy but is attacked by other ppl wearing similar outfits nearby. They shoot past her destroy the machines around her. They try to kill the weird guy too but Supergirl grabs him and flies away.
They fly outside and Supergirl questions the guy who says that they're in the future and shows Supergirl a giant statue of herself. There is a mini pillar too with Superman's S on it and a small blue flame to honour Superman's death. Apparently there is one on every planet that Superman saved in his death :o
The guy explains that in trying to cure cancer, Supergirl makes all humans have super powers like she does. And that it makes them not human nemore and it ended their "world". He went back in time trying to kill Superman and altho he failed he managed to trap Supergirl in the future where can do no harm. He said that that's why they destroyed the time travelling machine that was around her. Also that he ate a suicide pill after she "rescued" him, so that he cannot rebuild the machine.
Supergirl rushes him back to the machine telling him to fix it but he refuses. However it's alrdy fixed and a bunch of Bruce Wayne clones who are known as the "Batmen" appear and tell Kara to go back in time and do what she believes is right. :o
Review: O... kay...
Supergirl's been mind controlled on Apokolips, ran around on Kandor in that awful Candor storyline that was never rly explained well, went to a "future" that was a delusion where the sun was red and phantoms were everywhere, she's been to the future with the Legion and now.. she's in the future again?
So when do we get to settle down and get to know Supergirl a little, maybe give her a LIFE and FRIENDS? She's off the Titans now too, and no longer friends with Cassie so there's even LESS of that around now.
Instead it's more Supergirl doing weird things with plots that barely make sense where things are just rushing by and we're ttlly going wtf!? >_>
She certainly likes spending time in the future :\
These plots would be great if Supergirl had some sort of established setting and supporting cast and stuff but she DOESN'T. And she's still being purely tied to Batman and Superman. Superman and Batman are constantly saving her. So when does she get to stand on her own two feet?
And now she's in the future again xD Okay.. soo... by giving humans special powers, and presumably resistance to diseases, she made them not human. Just like the Flash isn't human right? Or Elongated Man? Or any of the metagene ppl? All not human. Nope. Once you gain powers you are INHUMAN.
Did she force this on them? It was never explained :( I dun understand why trying to cure disease would be so bad? :\ It seems kinda flimsy to me mainly cuz it's poorly explained. "Without human weakness we aren't human nemore" is a pretty cliched thing to shout out, esp since it's not rly that simple, esp not in a world of superheroes. So Superman isn't human? I thought everybody agreed he was the most human of all the heroes. And like Flash again, or other human heroes who have meta powers? Not human? Is dying the only thing that makes ppl human? Cuz even WITH superpowers you can still die! Should we not try to cure cancer cuz that would make ppl less human? >_> Were we more human back when we were living shorter lives and dying more? o_O
I'm just so confused XD Rly just.. stuff is happening again.
AND WHAT'S WITH THAT POSE xD OMG. WHO STANDS LIKE THAT WHILE TALKING!? Wouldn't the Kryptonite affect Superman too or does the time distortion thing means the effects work slower on him?
I rly didn't like how Kara thought that Batman would think of a way out of the situation or Superman would, while the guy had the gun pointed at her, but all she can think of is her own death. *sighs* It's issue 27, and Supergirl's reverted back to being not a hero, even tho she's supposedly been heroing for 2 years and she even REMEMBERED HER TIME WITH THE LEGION WHERE SHE WAS CLEARLY A HERO WHO WAS VERY READY TO FACE DEATH BY TAKING THE BOMB TO THE DOMINATOR HOMEWORLD.
ARGH
I mean this isn't BAD characterization if this was early on in the Supergirl series, but this just proves how her character is NOT developing and how NOBODY has any idea how to write her! Everybody has their own idea of what to do and Bedard, so far, has been the only one to actually try to grow her as a character with interactions with the Kents and stuff! *sighs* And now we're back to Supergirl running around while crazy things happen!
So first she has that weird thing where she flies around space following the alien invasion ships. Then the invasion is over, she fights Reactron who we never get an explanation for, and now she's in the future with BatMEN! *sighs*
And now she's going back in time again! It's sad b/c the future actually looks sorta neat with the giant black dome in the ocean and a giant pillar of fire. But we dun get to find out what those are :( I'm sad, it's like a Final Fantasy overworld thing! XD
Still... wtf!? ARGH
PLZ SOMEBODY SETTLE ON A DIRECTION FOR SUPERGIRL PLZ? CRAZY INSANE FUTURE/DIMENSION SETTINGS IS NOT A DIRECTION! THINGS HAPPENING IS NOT A DIRECTION!!! >:|
Mrow!
Last issue wasn't that bad, and I thought it would follow up to something interesting about Supergirl growing as a hero, but now there's a TIME TRAVEL TWIST. -_-
Just move her to Canada and give her a supporting cast AWAY from SuperBatman plz. :| PLZ? :D Pretty plz? :D
Blargh.
I hope that the next issue will be more interesting and MAYBE work with this plot in some way that's not TTLLY CLICHED!!! But this issue rly just.. :\ Let's keep Supergirl in one place/dimension/time period for a little longer than a couple issues at a time ok? :) And build a supporting cast for her instead of a never ending list of guest stars ok? :)
Angelwings Rating: 1 future crazy worlds out of 5 Batmens :(
Recommendation: Maybe for Supergirl fans following this arc you should get it, but this is rly not a very good issue :( Not recommended for non Supergirl fans :\

Detective Comics - #842 Review
Detective Comics - #842

Synopsis: Batman (in the suit of armour Talia gave him which she calls the Suit of Sorrows) chases a villain called "Gotham Jack" who mutilates girls. :\ He knocks him out but starts to strangle him and manages to stop himself. :o Jack escapes. e_e
Back in the Batcave, Batman has Robin analyze the suit and a piece of a plant found inside.
While patrolling, Batman suddenly gets a suicidal impulse to just let go and fall which he resists. Robin discovers that the suit originated around the time of the crusades and that the suit was supposedly involves with the order of St. Dumas. Batman says that the valley where the suit came from was the site of an infamous massacre by the Moors and they were eventually defeated by Geoffrey De Cantonna who supposedly had a pure heart.
Batman goes to the valley where he confronts a Monk who says that the suit is not connected to the order of St Dumas but with a splinter group called the order of the pure. :o
Batman goes to seek them out but bad guys following him trigger an avalanche which buries him :o However he manages to get out of the snow, possibly with help from the suit.
The monk talks to the bad guys saying that the "terrible secret" is safe once more but that the suit should be destroyed and not recovered. The bad guys feel the monk will betray them and tries to kill him but Batman intervenes! He defeats them and gets the monk to tell him the "terrible secret". The monk tells him that the moors did not slaughter the valley but rather Geoffrey De Cantona did b/c the suit tapped a dark part of him that he wasn't pure or strong enuf to fight.
Jack is spotted once more and Batman leaves again to fight him, still *sigh* wearing the suit. He decided not to destroy it. He fights Jack, pushes him off then saves him. He decides that he has triumphed over the suit and puts it away in a trophy case. >.>
Review: Buh? Did somebody rly think that we needed a story about the suit Batman wore in the Resurrection or Ra's Al Ghul arc? Srsly? I mean... it reminds me of those old 60s stories which had titles like "What's the secret of Batman's pink shirt?" or something XD
Neways so basically somebody had been watching a lot of the 90s Spiderman cartoon and decided that it would be a great idea to have Batman have a suit that made him more aggressive and want to kill ppl. >.> I mean that's basically what this is. I mean it's SO cliched with the "hero out of control" thing complete with him letting a villain go b/c he almost killed him *sighs* Spiderman did that in the cartoon too with Rhino! xD
Oh and the "pushing the villain off then saving him" thing! Spiderman did that with Shocker! XD I'm sure this trope has been done to DEATH in SO many stories too XD
Batman certainly travels the world quickly. How'd he get to the Alps so fast? And in a glider? I guess he parked his plane xD You'd think given the prevalence of this type of plot, Batman, being the world's greatest detective, would have figured out that the suit was ebil alrdy.
Why does he KEEP WEARING IT? In fact why does he wear it at ALL after the Ra's arc? Nobody said it was spesho back then and he never felt it was. He didn't feel faster or stronger (again it sounds just like a certain black symbiote XD ) or more violent or nething. So it's like this came out of left field. And why is he STILL wearing it? Once he got back to Gotham wouldn't he switch back into his regular uniform?
Worse than that, once he figures out it's bad (I MEAN IT'S ONLY CALLED THE SUIT OF SORROWS RIGHT?), why does he keep wearing it? It's like... Spiderman again! Where Curt Connors tells him to take off the suit and he's like "no I need it right now!"
*sighs* xD
Sry I have those episodes on my computer XDDD
The redeeming factor tho, is he DOES wear it to prove he can beat it (tho that's some risky thing to do, what if he doesn't? What if fighting the suit means that Jack gets away and hurts more ppl?) and to show that maybe Geoffrey had a moment where he could have resisted and prevented what happened. :o I always like stories that kinda wonder if things are destined or if they're just caused by ppl who took the easy way out.
Oh :o
Is the story about the Moors REAL or just made up? The order of St. Dumas was made up for Azbat right? I dunno nething about this history so I'm not sure. xD I'm guessing that they wouldn't interfere in real history tho :o
I wasn't shocked by the Geoffrey being bad twist at all. XD It's so cliche, down to the "crusaders weren't actually good!" thing. xD
Neways, this felt like the DEFINITION of a filler issue to me. It's cliched, it's random, it answers manufactured questions nobody asked, and it ultimately affects NOTHING (we'll see if any future artists draw the Suit of Sorrows next to the other Batsuits). XD
Angelwings Rating: 2 out of 5 Symbiotes of Sorrows
Recommendation: Not rly worth it as it's just a meaningless filler issue :\

Legion of Superheroes - #39 Review
Legion of Superheroes - #39

Synopsis: (Ex-)Princess Projectra goes back to her castle but a Science Police officer is outside with robots and tells her she's not allowed in since it's not her home nemore. She uses her powers to make the officer think the robots are attacking him and slips inside. There she is met by Councilwoman Ardeen who is Saturn Girl's mother. She explains to Projectra that her political status has been revoked because of her planet's destruction and that with the loss of her parents and trusts, Projectra fell behind in her debt payments and that's why everything has been taken from her. :( She tells Projectra to behave or there will be consequences that even with her clout as Councilwoman, she will not be able to prevent. :\
Meanwhile in the Legion headquarter somebody MYSTERIOUS™ is sitting in Lightning Lad's command chair and reading thru all the mission updates.
On Triton, Saturn Girl is being told by the SP not to use her powers as it's a felony while Timberwolf gets mad about the biased reporting by the press saying that the Legion caused problems while the SP was the one that saved the colony from attackers.
Timberwolf wanders off and talks to Gisselle, the girl who helped the Legion fight in the last issue and who is rejected by the others of the city b/c of her powers.
The city manager angrily tells the press that the Legionnaires are a danger b/c they are different and ppl who aren't normal are freaks :(
Timberwolf gets super mad and attacks the city manager and the SP but Saturn Girl intervenes using her mind powers to convince ppl that he just tripped. Timberwolf gets mad at Saturn Girl who tells him that he's making things worse.
In New Beijing, Element Lad, Ultra Boy and Colossal Boy are capturing the muskshrew that have infested the city and apparently smell rly bad. xD They detect one final one in the sewers and Colossal Boy goes down to find it. It's apparently the pet of a memeber of a gang. He tries to take it from her but her friends show up. Much fighting ensues. Colossal Boy wins but is knocked out by the member who is the owner of the muskshrew. xD Ultra Boy shows up at that moment and saves Colossal Boy. They take the muskshrew (poor shrewy!!! D: ) and leave.
In the Legion rec room, Light Lass and Phantom Girl have a panty party where they talk about how Lightning Lad is clearly in over his head while prancing about in nighties. XD Karate Kid shows up. Phantom Girl leaves, the bad porn music kicks in and Light Lass and Karate Kid get all cuddly and flirty. We scene switch as smex is hinted at XDD
Lightning Lad goes to his command chair thinking that somebody is there but when he gets there it's vacated. :o
Elsewhere, Projectra comes upon ppl looting a jewellry store. She puts on a bracelet and thinks sadly about how she used to be able to have whatever she wanted. :( She creates the illusion of SP officers raiding the store and forcing the looters to stay in one place while she calls the real SP. Then she flies off with the bracelet on her wrist :O
Review: I know I haven't done a review since the Shooter/Manapul run started, but I have RLY enjoyed it. :) In general the art is great and the writing is sharp. :] Also labelling each Legionnaire as they show up is a great way for us to kee track of them, esp somebody who isn't completely familiar with them like myself. :]
I like how things are building to something more sinister, esp with the MYSTERIOUS PERSON™ who is spying on the Legion. Personally I think this is M'rissey who is the guy who tried to join the Legion last issue and who's specialty is in manipulating complex systems and analysis and data management. How the MYSTERIOUS PERSON™ was checking thru the mission files, and stuff seems like something he'd do. XD
Also Saturn Girl is great. XDDD I luffed her in last issue where she led the team to victory and despite having her powers not rly being useful, fought hard using just a gun :D It's awesome to see ppl keep going even without powers :] She's always been one of my favourite chars but thru the Supergirl + The Legion run she was kinda in the background, now she's just kicking butt! >:D
And I rly like how she's managing things there and keeping a firm hand on the team even tho she's clearly very wounded and exhausted. :]
The New Beijing scenes were weird. XD Just cuz, I guess they'll prolly lead into something bigger. They were cliched but fun, complete with the "bad girl" who dresses all in black leather and the gangmembers who are just all muscle. xD Yay for Colossal Boy tho! Altho he got knocked out he still managed to fight back even when it looked like things were bad and he lost his flight ring. xD
I feel so bad for Projectra!!! ;-; Tho it must be hard for her to deal with things when she's so used to everything being taken care of for her :( Esp with teh debts and stuff :\ I wonder what the significance of her taking the bracelet was? :o I dun rly know much about the char but I do alrdy like her. xD Also she stopped the looters when she could have joined them :D Tho she kept the bracelet.. >.> So I'm confused!! xD Mo well :D
Srsly tho, dun girls just always romp around in smexy lingerie to have casual convos with? I KNOW I DO!!! We wear those for people, not just normally! I swear some guys dun understand this at all! There's rly no real comparison for guys that they have stuff they wear specifically for somebody spesho, but for lingerie and stuff... like... yus I wear it, but not just normally XD It's like how some guys seem to think we just romp around in lingerie and have smexy panty parties with our g/fs and stuff behind their backs. XD Yus I know, maybe in the future.. blah blah blah.. or whatever... but srsly, it's just the artist going "hmm since I'm drawing girls at night neways they might as well be wearing lingerie!" >.> *sighs* That part was a little jarring to me just cuz it rly felt like this was unnecessary and showed little understanding of what we actually wear for ourselves and stuff. XD It just felt gratuitous to me. :\
I did like the Light Lass/Phantom Girl convo tho and stuff. :] It's rly nice to see characters just sit around and talk like that. :)
Plus the Karate Kid/Light Lass stuff was cute tho :D I enjoyed that. :] They make a hot couple XDDD If she KNEW he was coming tho then her clothing might make sense...
Still cute :D
Poor Lightning Lad :( He's in his undies too but just.. undies... XD There's no male comparison rly :( That's just part of how the onus for being smexy is on us so much in society... I need to make Ami-brand male lingerie! >:D
Cute tho xD Esp with the open shirt XDD
I still think the MYSTERIOUS PERSON™ is M'rissey but I guess we'll see :o
Neways I still rly enjoyed this book and I'm rly enjoying this new run in general! :D Altho the Supergirl run was great too it was a lot more plot based and less character based while this is more character driven and I like that :D
Angelwings Rating: 4 panty parties out of 5 awesome Saturn Girls :D
Recommendation: I recommend this current run and issue to fans of the LoS and also ppl new to it but looking for a good ensemble book :) Plus the art is great XD

Week of March 5 2008 Super Short Reviews :DDD
Hi :D
Okay so I'm slowly easing back into this review thing again XD It's only been 2 months but it's felt like 2 years :( Time just got all messed up for me while I was dealing with what happened to me :\ I think I'm mostly okay now, tho I still have flashbacks... ;-; *growls*
I'm trying to get my happy back so hopefully my reviews aren't more dour than usual or something! xD
Neways, so on to the first Super Short Reviews for 2008 :D
So this week I got:
The All New Atom - #21
Detective Comics - #842
Green Lantern - #28
Supergirl - #27
Teen Titans: Year One - #3 (of 6)
:]
Sably this week wasn't as good as I had hoped, at least imo :\ But that is okay :) Last week with Blue Beetle and LoS was good enuf to tide me over neways XD Plus GL :D
So here are the SSRs!!! :D
The All New Atom - #21 - This is first issue of the new creative team and it kinda shows. Ryan just doesn't seem like RYAN. He seems a lot less optimistic and a lot angrier than Simone's Atom :\ Same with Panda :( Also the plot is pretty generic. Hopefully things will pick up but this issue didn't grab me at all :( 2/5
Detective Comics - #842 - This is a servicible "filler" issue, but rly, did we need a story about Batman's new armor? Also it reads a lot like a Venom Symbiote knock off story :\ I think the ending kind of saves it, and as usual shows Batman's determination, but it just feels very thrown together in general :( 2/5
Green Lantern - #28 - This was another great issue and I rly luff how interesting GL's gotten since the Sinestro War and I rly can't wait to see what other twists and turns are waiting :D Esp relating to the 10 new laws. Also we finally get to see the birth of the other Lantern Corps :D 4/5
Supergirl - #27 - One day Supergirl will get a stable creative team that knows what to do with her and develop for her a real cast of supporting characters and an environment unique to her and her life and adventures. One day Supergirl will stop spending all her time in different time periods, alternate universes, hallucinations and shrunken cities. Today however is not that day :( It's another "Supergirl is in another reality/time period" story and just... blah :\ Srsly can we stop with the Supergirl in crisis stories and just start to figure out WHO Kara is and give her a REAL CAST? :\ 1/5
Teen Titans: Year One - #3 (of 6) - This seems kinda rushed, but I guess they want to tell more than just a re-telling of the creation mission of the Titans. xD It IS very pat how quickly they resolved things, tho hopefully it's not over yet :D The art is cute tho the story was just kinda blah to me. It was just sorta like things were happening. :\ It's cute but not as interesting as I had hoped for. :\ 2.5/5
Neways, yus, so that's the Super Short Reviews for this week :) Hopefully I'll get some longer reviews up soon :D
*hugs*
Take cares!

YAY I'M BACK!!!! Blue Beetle - #24 Review :D
Blue Beetle - #24

Synopsis: Jaime's family crawls out of the ruins of his house (destroyed by the Reach), saved by Traci 13 who introduces herself as Jaime's g/f XD They all hop into Paco's car and race off.
On the Reach spaceship, the Negotiator (from now on called Neggy :D) throws Jaime in a cell for further analysis as he refuses to believe that Jaime overcame the Scarab's programming through his own will and goodness. He takes the Scarab (which he declares is "dead") to be scanned.
Alone and nekkid in his cell, Jaime gets back up and speaks in the Reach language which allows him to open the door and get the jump on the surprised guard outside. xD Jaime hijacks a pod in the launch bay and instead of trying to escape, heads deeper into the ship instead! :D
Back in El Paso, Dawur (the big mean looking Reach person) shows up on orders of Neggy to destroy Jaime's family but is faced by the collective powers of Traci 13, Peacemaker and the Posse who say that they owe Jaime for saving the family of one of their members! :D
Jaime, now powerless and clothed with goggles similar to Ted Kord's starts speaking in Reach and tells Neggy that he's going to overload the engines and destroy the ship and that the Beetle gave him all the knowledge of the Reach (that they got from Peacemaker earlier) before they took it out. ^-^ In response, Neggy orders a complete shutdown of the engines even though that will decloak the ship. :o
On Earth, the fight is fast and frantic but Darwur manages to discover where Jaime's family is (as they've been cloaked by a magic user in the Posse). However before he can destroy them, La Dama, Brenda's crime boss aunt arrives with her own men and magic users! :D They provide arms for Jaime's parents and join in the fight! :D
In the ship, Jaime reaches the engine room but Neggy says that the engines are down. However, Jaime has another plan, and he inputs an algorithm into the Reach's computers :O Neggy and his cute little scientists ppls can't figure out what it is and in anger Neggy orders Jaime brought to him and sends ships to finish off Jaime's family and friends (and enemies!) D:
Jaime's mom tells Brenda to take Milagro to safety and Brenda orders Paco with her. However there's an explosion and Brenda's knocked out cold :( Something lands behind the good guys.
Neggy holds Jaime at gunpoint and demands to know what the program is. Jaime refuses and says only "Khaji Da!" (Dan Garrett's original magic word to transform into the Blue Beetle) in response! :O
Review: :OOOO
I remember when Jaime first appeared as the successor of Ted Kord in Infinite Crisis, I think everybody wrote him off. Even I was a bit skeptical b/c it seemed a little done. Regular teen boy in a small town? Check. Best friend and potential love interest? Check. Not wanting to be a hero? Check. Given a super alien killing machine? Check. But I also had hope that it would not be like that at all :D
I remember reading a review in IGN talking about how unconvinced they were that Jaime would be nething other than just another "regular kid dealing with a killing machine" trope. But just like he has in his own story, Jaime has defied everybody's low expectations and become something special. :D
I mean this entire issue is rly a great pay off to everything that's been building up for the last 23 issues :D And it's SO BLUE BEETLE!! Which is what I luff so much :D B/c he's always won his fights not thru sheer force, but thru negotiation and friendship. He's done good things for his villains, and in this issue it all pays off as everybody (good, bad or otherwise) involved in Jaime's life shows up, on their own free will, to defend his family! :D
That's Jaime's superpower, and that's exactly what the whole thing with Neggy is about. It's not the Scarab suit, that just allows Jaime to do more, but he's inherently a GOOD PERSON, a kind person and somebody who helps unconditionally, and that means ppl, good and bad, respect him and like him :)
It's often hard to throw in "surprise saves" more than once in an "seige" setting, but Rogers does it expertly with Traci 13, Peacemaker and the Posse and La Dama all showing up at the right times, and it doesn't seem corny, but instead it made me wanna cheer b/c I luff all those characters since they've been DEVELOPED throughout the series and it's just great to see them all together making a stand for a common cause :D The Reach dunno what they're up against. XD
I also luff that Jaime's family doesn't just run or scream or hide. They grab weapons and fight back! Even Brenda takes charge and orders Paco with her when tasked to take Milagro to safety! :D No WiR here! :D
I'm sad that she got knocked out so easily tho, but b/c it's so odd for the story (that she'd take charge only to be knocked out), I suspect there's more that's gonna be happening and Brenda will rly come thru next issue! :D Also the landing party may not be who we think it is, since next issue stars Booster Gold, Fire, Ice and Guy Gardner apparently! :D
I think Rogers has rly shown the perfect way to introduce a "legacy" hero. I mean he came in with the whole "We love Ted Kord, how could you kill him and replace him with a stupid kid?" thing on his back and not only did he make us love Jaime, he honoured Ted Kord's legacy. Jaime studied Ted's notes, a lot of his thinking comes from learning from Ted's way of thinking. And Ted's friends have made appearances too, not just to give Jaime a stamp of approval for the fans, but to get to know him and to help teach him as a hero. :)
So it would be great to see them help him in the final issue of Rogers' run :D
I luff that Jaime is STILL a fairly non-violent hero, one who uses his brains and his compassion to overcome his obstacles :D I luff that he takes advantage of the linear thinking of the Reach and their overconfidence to undermine and defeat them, and I luff how brave he's become :D
What's great is that this didn't happen overnight. It took 24 issues to get here, and in each one he slowly learned a little more about what it means to be a hero, and also about himself and who he is inside. Jaime was always a hero, he just never got the chance to rly show it until he got the scarab, and that's what's so great about this series :)
Also he has an AMAZING supporting cast that exist as characters in and of themselves as well as to SUPPORT him and not just to be cannon fodder for him to grieve over! :D
Also he's had mentors, which is a nice change, and more of a fantasy story hero thing than a comic book hero who tends to just jump into things. :) I rly like that he's learnt from Peacemaker, Batman, Guy Gardner, Ted Kord (from his notes) and to some degree Booster Gold. :D Also Superman XD These aren't guest stars for the sake of it like in Supergirl, these guest stars are important to his development as a hero. :) He learns and he grows and now he's taking on a foe that's supposedly way beyond him (and his OWN enemy, I like how his series stands alone) :D
Personally, I feel bad for Pfeifer. XD I LIKE him, and I think he can be a good writer, but to me issues 1-25 will be the definitive Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle story. He got the scarab and learnt how to be a hero and finally confronts the bad guys at the end and defeats them :D
I'm sure the future stories can be good too, but even if they're not, 1-25 told a complete story for me and I'd be happy even if they completely ruin Jaime, kill off his entire family, rip out his eye, and have him make a deal with the devil so that he and Traci 13 never dated. >_>
DC should collect 1-25 in some sort of giant TPB! xDDD
Oh!! OH!!!
Also also!
The Scarab is great! :D And we all know it's just playing dead neways cuz Neggy said to hook it up to the ship to scan it. For a race of intergalactic geniuses, the Reach are pretty DUMB xD Tho I guess it's cuz they're so overconfident. Once the Scarab is hooked up, you know it's gonna wake up as part of Jaime's plan.
In fact I think that's what him saying Dan Garrett's magic word was about (again this is great legacy hero writing :D ), that it had special programming that the Reach doesn't know about that can turn it on and off. And that's the explanation as to why Garrett was able to use it. And that's what Jaime's doing: waking it up. And then it'll wreak some havoc on the Reach ship! :D
I always find it funny tho that the bad guys dun seem to be able to do ONE WAY SCANS. It's always some scan that allows the good guys to reverse it. xD Like that scan on Superman's mind in the Third Kryptonian conclusion where Superman reads the other guy's mind instead XDDD That still makes NO SENSE.
Hmm... what else... :o
All the women in Jaime's life rock! :D That's why I'm hoping Brenda wakes up. OH OH, what happened to Jaime's hacker friends? They haven't shown up yet. HMMMM... mebbe they will? :D But La Dama is great, and Jaime's mom grabs a gun and fights along with Jaime's dad and Peacemaker! :D And Traci 13 is teh awesome with her magic bees!!! :DDD
No WiR here :D In fact, there's no cheap "dead father or best friend" substitute either, which is GREAT. I mean this is my whole problem with it, that there are characters created (or brought in in the case of family members) just to be offed to give the hero grief, and there's none of that. Everybody fights back! >:D
Besides, Jaime doesn't need cheap WiR gimmicks to develop his character of make his villains look villainous! :D That's just how good the book is :]
Plus, all the female chars look like regular girls and women, and aren't running around in clothing that doesn't suit the char just for male titillation! :D B/c as I said, Blue Beetle doesn't need and doesn't want those gimmicks to get fans :D And it's ttlly awesome and great b/c of it :D
I feel like I'm giving an eulogy to the book in a way, since next issue is the last one Rogers is doing. :(
Oh, I also like how Traci 13 is an established char and therefore not likely to be killed off in the future just to give BB angst or nething and that they have a relationship of equals and he's not lying to her or nething. In fact he's not lying to ANYBODY which is GREAT that he actually TRUSTS his family with his sekrit. And that usual Spider-Man bs about "if I tell you it puts you in danger?" thoroughly gets it's ass whupped here b/c a) they're gonna be in danger neways b) they can take care of themselves! :D
Oh! And they had faith that Jaime would be okay and Jaime had faith that they'd be okay. He focussed on escaping thinking to himself that his family was okay. :) I like how the chars all trust and have faith in each other like that. It's an incredible advantage for a hero to have to be able to trust that the ppl he cares about, even if they are targets, will not just be victims and can handle themselves while he focusses on the task at hand. :D
YAY BLUE BEETLE!!!!!!!!! :D
(that's actually what I shouted out to an empty cafeteria after I read this xDDD)
:D
This is prolly one of my favourite issues of the whole series. The whole battle royale involving all his friends and family (and supposed enemies) just made the whole book for me! :D
I can't wait for the final issue of the arc!!!! But at the same time I'll be sad cuz then Rogers will be gone. :(
THO
#26 is supposedly all in Spanish and I bet THAT will be neat! :D I hope it's done WELL. :]
Angelwings Rating: 5 great supporting casts out of 5 awesome Jaime Reyes :D
Recommendation: GET IT OR SUFFER THE WRATH OF AMI-DOOM!!!! >:OOO
