Week of September 3, 2008 Super Short Reviews :)

Meow meow :D Sry my week has been SO HECTIC O_O You would not believe it. xD

*flaps arms*

Neways, here is what I got this week :D

Detective Comics - #848
Green Lantern - #34
Secret Six - #1
Spiderman Loves Mary Jane Season 2 - #2 (of 5)
Supergirl - #33

Rawr :o Just when I start cutting back Sekrit Six pops up! xD At least it's worth it tho! :D

On to the SSRs! :D

Detective Comics - #848 - Mrow! :O Disturbing! D: But good :) But disturbing! Also a little dissapointed in how some of the chars were used but the story seems good so far so I'm willing to give it some leeway :) The end made me sad :( But this was mostly enjoyable and interesting if a bit slow :) 3.5/5

Green Lantern - #34 - This was ok :) I enjoyed the characterization and stuff, it was just a lot of exposition xD But at least it was written well and continues to fill in the new backstory to set up the current storyline of GL :) 3/5

Secret Six - #1 - YAY SIMONE AND SCOTT ARE BACK TOGETHER!!!!!!!!! :D And as usual they rock together! The writing is awesome, the dialogue is great (except for one char which I'm a little confused about, but am liking nonetheless) and the art is wonderful as usual :) This issue rly hooked me and I'm v interested to see where this goes :) 4.5/5

Spiderman Loves Mary Jane Season 2 - #2 (of 5) - This "season" is def not as dramatic as the last one, and def not as WB drama-ish, but it is a nice change and I rly like what Moore is doing :) Not much happens and it's not very exciting so far, but the characters are rly great and believable but also very interesting and easy to care about, and the interactions are what makes this book rly good :) I liked it :) 5/5

Supergirl - #33 - Rawr D: A lot of stuff in this issue doesn't make sense. The characterization of Empress is off, and there's one thing that rly just jumps out as "huh did I miss something!?" Overall it's another typical "Supergirl has to learn to get over her angst" story but not executed very well :\ I was hoping for more :( 1.5/5

Mrow... :o

And that's it! :D

*waffles and flops* I'm gonna go lay down now! :D

<3

Teh Ami :)

8 angel hugs! :D:

I agree with you on the Green Lantern... It's good stuff, and now seems like a good moment to revisit the origin and connect it to what's going on now, but on the other hand, there seems to be a little too much talking and the overall story arc's dragging along a bit.

God, did I ever love Secret Six -- much more than their previous series. Even without ID-ing that one character (Bane, I think) it was just great.

Ami, I'm curious on your feelings about the upcoming change in direction and creative teams for Supergirl, bringing her more firmly into the Superman storyline that Johns and Robinson are creating.

I also very much enjoyed Secret Six. Scott is becoming an art monster! The coloring was outstanding, too. :)

Also, i haven't been to the comic shop since this came out, and i'm having a bit of withdrawl.

Did you get Supergirl 34? What did you think? I'm now sooooo excited about this new creative team! :D

Sry I've been rly bad about updating lately! D: I did get the new Supergirl and I thought it was RLY RLY RLY good :D It only took them 34 issues to do what a lot of fans (including me) have been asking for since issue 1 xDDD

I rly enjoyed it tho and I hope this creative team is given a free hand and a committment of at least 10 issues to give Supergirl a real direction and cast (I'm alrdy liking putting Lana there since it's a good fit :D )

Lana's gonna be awesome! The issue flowed really well I thought and I'm so pleased with what they've done.

I dunno, am I the only one that's dubious on the subject of making Supergirl's supporting cast fifteen years older than her?
