Catwoman - #69 Review

Catwoman - #69

Synopsis: In Gotham City, a Bana terrorist holds a handheld radioactive device in her hand and threatens to destroy the city if nebody shoots her b/c it's rigged on a deadman's switch. :o Catwoman tells us that she's supposed to be part of the Bana and stole the dangerous part of the device for them. She tried to stop them but things didn't go according to plan. She jumps out at lashes her whip.

We back up a week, and Catwoman is watching the news with her child thinking about how she had to give up her life. The news talks about how without Batman, the hero forces are disorganized. >.>;;

Holly checks on Karon in the hospital and then flies away. XD

Catwoman goes to check on her kid when she sees Batman holding her. Batman recruits her to infiltrate the Bana and promises to keep Helena safe.

Catwoman breaks into a jewellry store and gets the Bana's attention and they approach her to join. She breaks into STAR labs and steals the device. She tries to take the radioactive part out and hide it but the Bana catch her and shoot her with a dart. >.>

She wakes up and they inform her that they want her to witness the destruction of Gotham City. >.> She beats them up and whips the Bana holding the bomb but she let's go of the switch and Gotham City is destroyed, everybody dead, including Batman!

>.>;;

Actually it's too be continued.

OMG IS GOTHAM CITY GONNA BE KILLED?

Review: >.>;;

I dun even know the point of cliffhangers like this nemore. :\ Cliffhangers still DO work, but they at least need a "what's going to happen" type of question at the end, rather than a "will the city get destroyed or not?" question. >.>

To me, and I'm sure a lot of other readers unfamiliar with the Bana, it's like they just appeared and everybody's talking about them in a way that suggests that they know them well but yet vague enuf that the rest of us dunno what's going on. :\

It's like not being allowed in on a joke. >:|

And that's a feeling that you dun want your readers or your fans to have. :(

No matter how much I keep not wanting it to be this way, Amazons Attack keeps appearing to be an anti-feminist rant. :\ Or at the very least "extremist feminism is bad!"

ORLY?

I thought Catwoman was skilled. :O How did she get caught so easily? And why isn't Batman around to help her? :o

I love how the news says that once Batman left the JLA is totally discombobulated and confused! XD So much for Black Canary being the leader. :\ It's not like all of the heroes are n00bs or nething! They KNOW how to operate as a team without Batman!

And considering how Hippolyta's only orders seem to be "KILL PUSSYCAT KILL!!!", how exactly are the heroes being outmaneuvred? >.>

I love how the Bana realize that Catwoman's a traitor (in the issue that she joined them too!) and knock her out, but dun tie her up, or take any precautions around her even tho they've spent weeks watching her (apparently) and therefore should know how fast she can move, or how strong she is. :o

What WAS the point in having Catwoman infiltrate them if she's not there to learn nething? All it seems is that she needs to steal a weapon for them to use, that they would never have been able to obtain if she didn't do it for them.

Great plan Batman.

I have this annoying feeling that the bomb will be a dud and the Bana were "testing" her or something and by some bizarre fluke of writing, she passed. Or she swapped the radioactive thing with a fake radioactive thing. Considering the device is supposed to be able to spread radioactivity across a half mile and she took out the radiocative core, wouldn't it KILL HER!? My job is working with radiation (doing safety tests for medical labs) so to me this is such a stupid thing for her to do XD

Or something.

I dun care. Amazons Attack is dead to me now.

I love how Holly jumps off the building after visiting Karon but there's nothing visibly nearby for her to land on. XD It looks like she just flew off :O

Neways, I can't wait until DC's summer o' crossovers is over. >:|

Oh! I love how at comicon when interviewed, Didio said that ALL of the Countdown Crossovers are INTEGRAL to the plot and therefore you HAVE to get ALL of them. >:|

CONVENIENT!

>:|

Angelwings Rating: 2 stupid Catwomen out of 5 stupid Bana :(
Recommendation: This isn't a Catwoman issue, it's an Amazons Attack issue. :\ If you like Amazons Attack, you might want to get it to see more about the Bana, otherwise.. no >:|

Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes - #32 Review

Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes - #32

Synopsis: Matter Eating Lad (the special prosecutor for the United Planets) questions Mekt Ranzz, Sun Boy and Star Boy about Cosmic Boy.

They go into Mekt's house but find nobody there. :o

Star Boy calls Brainy on Earth who tells him that he doesn't have time to help b/c he has to help other ppl and that Supergirl is busy.

Mekt leads them into the cellar where all the grain is harvested due to the bad storms on the planet. He seems some grafitti that insults him for being born alone instead of with a twin (as everybody on his planet is usually born with). And he gets mad and tries to hurt Matter Eating Lad, but Sun Boy intervenes and they fight. Star Boy grounds them both with his powers. XD

Mekt explains that he was born alone and it was seen as a bad omen. Ppl who are born alone are lonely b/c they dun have a twin like everybody else, and so they get depressed, but instead of understanding this, "regular" ppl believe that these single births have a "death wish" and are crazy and unstable. o_o

When Winath (the planet) was first settled, ppl died b/c of the lightning storms and they blamed it on a Lightning God and they believe that Mekt as a solo birth harkened the return of the Lightning God. :O He joined a cult that believed this b/c he wanted to belong someplace. They sent him to find the God on another planet, the planet where he and his siblings were zapped with lightning and given powers. :O

When he returned the Cult rejected him despite him gaining lightning powers b/c his siblings did too and that wasn't in the prophecy and so he became bitter and angry. :(

Matter Eating Lad is off on his own after running away from Mekt and he runs into 2 strange children who leads him into the grain silo to meet the mayor of the city. :o He gets locked inside and the silo fills up! :o

A cloaked figure calling himself the mayor tells the kids that they did a good job. Star Boy spots a bunch of ppl and Mekt sees his parents among them! He goes to talk to them but they shoot him with Lightning b/c the "Lord of Lightning" demands it! :O Suddenly they're surrounded by villagers who have glowing eyes (and thus are under mind control!)

Review: I miss Kitson and his cuteful and heroic drawings of the characters at the beginning :(

Instead, now we get Light Lass in a Greg Land pose, and the guys looking like stiff and boring action figures XD

:(

I found the art in the issue inconsistant, tho it looked okay in parts. :) But sometimes Mekt looked like an unshaven neanderthal. :(

I found the explanation of his origins to be neat tho! B/c it expanded on what we heard earlier, and made it make more sense :)

Like, instead of solo births being mentally unstable and suicidal, it's just cuz they're depressed, but the ppl on Winath are just too superstitious to get that :( And that Mekt went to the planet b/c he was on a mission from the Cult NOT b/c he was just suicidal like his siblings thought he was. :3

It made the story more intersting and made Mekt more of a 3-dimensional character :)

I guess MEL will eat his way out of that silo XD

Personally, I find the plot kinda boring. :( I dun rly care about the Lightning Lord or about the cliche of a town full of mind controlled ppls. :\

They even have glowing eyes! XD

Supergirl is featured so prominently on the cover and yet NOT IN THE BOOK AT ALL!

>.>;;

I wanna know what's going on with the other characters! ;-;

I do like the interaction between Star, Sun and Mekt tho :3 And how the 3 of them represent different interests.

I think Bedard just needs to get his footing on this series :)

I just found that there was a lot of talking and not much else. :\ It was very expository, and kinda forced exposition with ppl just hanging around explaining important plot points xD

Where's mah Supergirl!? XD

Angelwings Rating: 2 out of 5 Mekt ramblings :D
Recommendation: This is just a 2 part arc and doesn't seem that interesting. :\ You might want to check it out if you're a LoS fan :) But you could also save your money and not rly miss nething. XD

Green Lantern Corps - #14 Review

Green Lantern Corps - #14

Synopsis: Lanterns are being killed everywhere by the Sinestro Corps. :o

On Korugar, homeworld of Sinestro, Natu, the Green Lantern of that world and of the sector is trying to keep the peace amongst rioting while rejecting calls for her to ascend to the leadership. However, Sinestro appears and they fight! :O

In space, Green Man is searching for Stel, who is a robotic Green Lantern and his friend whom he harmed while infected by the virus Sinestro Corps member. :o

He finds him and goes to find Mogo with him. :D

Natu fights Sinestro and is about to kill him but her ring prevents it! Sinestro explains to her that that's the Lantern Corps' weakness, that they wun kill and therefore nobody is afraid of them. :o

Elsewhere, the Sinestro Corps gathers together for battle once more and to reveal their true leader (the Anti-Monitor) to the universe. :o

Sinestro defeats Natu but sends her back to the planet knowing that the ppl there will worship her if they believe that she defeated him and that she'll be forced to take leadership of the planet and act like Sinestro did before when he became a tyrant over the planet, in order to keep it together and that'll keep his planet safe and keep her too busy to help in the war effort. :o

She lands and ppl do indeed worship her. O_O

Kilowog gathers the Lanterns together to lead into battle.

Sinestro flies back to Qward, alerted that the human Green Lanterns have attacked there.

Green Man and Stel find Mogo, the Lantern planet, but see that he's injured. Behind them a giant war machine planet bearing the Sinestro Corps logo appears! :O

Review: That Death Star member is coooooooollllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew that they would have an anti-Mogo! XD

That's neat! :O

I hope Mogo destroys him THO >:O

I wonder why Superman isn't helping out? Ignoring the stupid Amazons Attack thing going on. :( Mogo saved his life during Infinite Crisis and you'd think he'd want to help Hal and the others!

Maybe he'll show up to fight Superboy Prime? :D

I wish Conner was back to fight SBP. >:|

I like how the Sinestro Corps war is unfolding and how it's being paced rather than rushed :) And it's only being told in 2 series, rather than in 1 "main" one and a billion zillion trillion tie ins. >:|

HOWEVER, I can't wait for the Blue Beetle/Sinestro Corps issue cuz since the Reach are anti-Guardian, the Scarab would prolly want to help? :o It's being offered the ring apparently. But I bet Jaime will not let it! :3

This not killing things for superheroes is so annoying. :\

There's a difference between murder and deadly force. Killing somebody in cold blood is one thing, but in battle is another! If you're in a fight for your life, you SHOULD be using EVERY means at your disposal to win unless you think you can win easily.

So I'm always annoyed when good guys dun use deadly force in a life or death situation. :(

If somebody is trying to hurt me or worse, and I get a pipe in my hands, I'm going to hit him AS HARD AS I CAN in the head, since if I spare him, he could kill me or worse >:|

If I kill him, it's not b/c I wanted to, but that I had no choice. :\

And with Sinestro, you'd think that it'd be okay to stop him that way! He WOULD have killed her except he had his ridiculously circuitous plan to enact. XD

Is that why all the Lanterns are dying so easily? B/c the bad guys are allowed to go all out but they have to hold back? :\

Stupid Guardians! >:| You're at WAR!

Going all out or using all the force you can to prevent yourselves from being destroyed and killed, is NOT crossing the line or being evil! If they were exterminating whole planets, or beheading captured Sinestro Corps members, that'd be different. :\

But it's like saying that in hockey, you shouldn't throw a body check b/c it'd be mean. >.> It's not illegal, and it's not cheating. >:|

It's just stupid. :( Hundreds of Lanterns are DYING!!!!!!

;-;

I dunno why Natu doesn't just NOT do what Sinestro wants. :\ I hope she refuses! I guess his point is that the planet is so crazy that somebody has to rule with an iron fist.

If I was her I'd call his bluff. Clearly Sinestro cares about the sector too, and I'd join the war effort, and see if he could stand by while his sector falls to ruin. >.>;;

Or ask other GLs for help.

I think the GLs need Batman. >:|

The smart Batman, not the Batman in Amazons Attack XD

Even tho this isn't the "main story" tho, it's still interesting :) I still can't wait to see what happens to Hal and the others in GL, but it's still fun to see the rest of the war going on :D

It's rly getting brutal tho! So many ppl are dying! And the SC is sooo vicious!

Why do they all have to look mean tho? Can't some look sweet and cute but be ebil inside? :D

Like me >.>

<.<

What? XD

I can't wait until the tide turns tho and the GL Corps fights back :D

GO MOGO!!!!!!!!!!! XD

Angelwings Rating: 4 out of 5 hurt Mogos :(
Recommendation: If you dun have a lot of money, you can prolly just stick to Green Lantern only and still get the important details of the war, but this is a good issue too for ppl following the war :)

Green Arrow: Year One - #2 (of 6) Review

Green Arrow: Year One - #2 (of 6)

Synopsis: Ollie Queen wakes up on an island. He realizes what's happened and focusses on survival. :o He finds an encampment but sees that the ppl that used to live there were killed. :o

He tries to eat a raw fish and throws up instead. :O However, he refuses to give up and instead makes a boy and arrow from the remains of the village and a green hood to keep the sun off him. XD He kills fish with the bow and boils water in an old oil canister (yuck). XD

For months, Ollie eats, hunts and sleeps and he realizes how happy and content he is now. o_O

One day he sees a plane flying nearby and shoots a flaming arrow up as a signal flare. :o However, he realizes the plane is evil and the ppl on it start shooting at him! However, he refuses to run and instead aims his bow at the plane! :O

Review: Ollie sure is confident of his archery abilities if he's planning to shoot the guy in the plane and not get hit by bullets! :O

It seems surprising that the story is moving so fast. :( Also dissapointing. :\

Considering what a spoiled jerk that Ollie was made out to be in the last issue, his transformation into a survivor is surprisingly fast and glossed over. :O

I didn't like that it moved so fast or that it skipped over interesting parts where he might have to fend for himself and learn humility. But maybe that comes later? :o

According to the original tale, he superheroed for fun b/c he got a kick out of his time on the island, and it wasn't until he became poor that he started caring about other ppl. Is that the same here? :o

I just dun like that he was a spoiled rich kid, and then he got put on this island and instead of acting like a spoiled rich kid, he immediately goes "oh okay, let's get on with it!" and makes a bow and arrow and kills fish easily and stuffs >.>;;

But maybe it's supposed to show that even tho he's spoiled and rich he's still a hero and a survivor inside? :o

I munno >.> It's a big change :O

I like that the evil plane looks evil and has teeth painted on it and that's how he knew it was evil. :O

I guess these are the pirates/smugglers that he fights? Why would they immediately shoot at him? How do they know he's a threat? Maybe he's useful? Why dun they land and they capture him or shoot at him? It's clear they have weapons and outnumber him. :o

Maybe they fear there are more of him?

I munno. >.>;;

Neways... this series was supposed to be 4 issues but is now 6, but I think that this issue was still written when they planned 4, b/c it's so rushed and clearly they want to move on with it fast. :o

It's not bad, but it's not great b/c the pacing is so off, but it's still fun to read about the origins of Green Arrow! :)

Angelwings Rating: 3 out of 5 surviving Green Arrows!
Recommendation: If you're a Green Arrow fan, this isn't a bad series to read so far :)

Batman - #666 Review

Batman - #666

Synopsis: In the future, Batman/Damian walks into a bloody church. We get a short story about how he's the son of Talia Al'Ghul and Bruce Wayne. He rejected his mother's attempt to turn him into an assassin and became Batman after his father's death. :o

Batman fights a creepy doll girl and defeats her. :o

Commissioner Barbara Gordon shows up with the Gotham PD to arrest him accusing Batman of killing a villain named Candyman. Batman claims it's not his doing and leaves.

They rescue the girl that Batman saves by killing/destroying/defeating the creepy doll girl. :o And then they find the mastermind behind it, Professor Pyg, nailed upside down on a Crucifix. :o

Batman goes back to his tower where he talks to his cat Alfred. :O He says that the killer is one of the three "replacement Batmen" that Batman was thinking of in the last issue. The first used a gun, the second used strength-enhancing substances, and this one claims to be the anti-Christ. :o

Batman listens tot he news and hears nothing but destruction all around the world, harkening Armageddon. Batman notes that 5 villains were killed around town and that when the locations of their deaths are mapped out they form a pentagram :O

A cop asks Barbara why she hates Batman so much and she says it's b/c he was responsible for the death of a good friend of hers. :o

In a building at the centre of the pentagram, the ebil Batman and his weird cyborg, gorilla and mutant troops threaten to kill ppl. :O Batman shows up and defeats them. :o

Ebil Batman claims that they're both sons of Batman in a way but that he also has another father, Satan. :o Batman reveals that he's been planning for this for a long time and that he's booby trapped every building in Gotham with bombs and he sets off a bomb which sends ebil Batman flying. :o

Batman says he'd never be as good as Bruce Wayne of Dick Grayson but he promised to be Batman so he specialized in cheating. :o Ebil Batman rises out of the water and walks on it. :O

Batman beats up and kills the ebil Batman saying that he made a deal with the devil when he was young to become Batman and protect Gotham City for his soul. :O He puts the fake ebil Batman's body on the top of the tower, impaled on the tip of it. :o

Commissioner Gordon and the PD arrive and shoot Batman, but he recovers b/c he's soulless. :O

He says that the apocalypse is cancelled until he says so. >.>

Review: o_o Morrison's channelling Miller again XD

I munno. :\ Lotsa ppl rly liked this issue and Morrison's stuff in general, but I dun rly. :\ It's just so icky and violent and bloody, but not for any real reason. :(

There's not a lot of explanation about what's going on, and that's made more annoying by the fact that the next issue isn't going to be following this story up.

Did they only do this story now b/c it's issue 666? :o It feels almost like one of those "teaser" stories where they want you to buy something coming out 3 months from now. :o

We dunno how Batman died, or what happened to Jim Gordon or why Barbara is commissioner. Why is Barbara ALWAYS commissioner in the future? It's not an inherited position, and as far as I know she's never been a police officer, so how did she get that rank? She'd have to join the police force and work her way up in a short amount of time. :O They have nobody else for the job? :o

I thought she was Ellen Yindel from The Dark Knight Returns at first cuz she looks a lot like her. :O Maybe that was intentional XD

This would make a good Elseworlds story tho XD Where there's Armageddon and the Devil exists and stuff. :o DOES the devil exist or just Neron in the DCU? :o

Damian is smexy bald XD But I was hoping he'd have hair. XD

I'm amused he looks EXACTLY LIKE BRUCE with the mask on. :o

Is Tim Drake the anti-Christ Batman? He seems to imply that he is. :o

It'd be nice if we got to see who was under the full face mask that he wore. :(

I'm guessing that assuming Damian wasn't responsible for Bruce's death, the "good friend" Barbara is referring to is Dick. :o

Poor Dick :(

Didio says they're gonna kill him in Final Crisis. :\ It's like Didio made up a whole crisis and screwed up the DCU simply to get his wish to kill Nightwing. ;-;

The story was sorta neat, but I felt like I was missing 70% of the story :(

I wish there was more explanation to stuff to set up the world and make it more interesting :o

Also bloody. :(

And the clown doll girl was creepy. ;-;

Neways, at least it's not a Countdown tie-in XD

Angelwings Rating: 2.5 ebil!Batmen out of 5 less!ebil!Batmen
Recommendation: Fans of Morrison should check it out :) And also ppl who find biblical armageddon stuff fascinating :)

Blue Beetle - #17 Review

Blue Beetle - #17

Synopsis: In Mexico, Blue Beetle saves ppl as a Hurricane rips thru the town. :O He scans the water and finds that it's made of dimension-shifted molecules which is technology that the Reach possess. However, Jaime has no idea what they might be up to.

He tells the villagers to go to a nearby hotel for shelter as the shelters that they're in will not hold. One of the villagers points out to Jaime that a giant naked tornado guy is behind all this!

Back in El Paso, Brenda asks Paco about Jaime's relationship with Traci 13 and Paco says that Traci's often away fighting villains and this makes Brenda happy and she says that long distance relationships dun work. Paco correctly guesses that Brenda is jealous even tho she denies it XD

Beetle tries to reason with the villain who reveals himself to be Typhoon. :O Typhoon is impressed that Beetle tried talking to him first, but he still attacks Jaime! Jaime gets information from his Beetle hacker ppls about whO Typhoon is and learns that he's a hired gun who often attacks corporations. O_O

Typhoon says that the Reach hired him to take the ocean air into space for unspecified reasons. Finding that he's unable to harm Beetle using his storm, he instead threatens the town and sends a tidal wave towards it! :O

Beetle saves as many ppl as he can, going as fast as he can, but the death toll mounts and in the end he manages to save 399 out of 422 ppl. He's clearly upset that he let 23 ppl die. :(

He finds that the ppl haven't been able to get shelter b/c the hotel predictably wouldn't let them in. He confronts the manager who argues with him. Beetle is about to snap when he calms down and realizes he has to approach this in a smarter way like Ted Kord would. XD He realizes that arguing with the manager does no good and is what the manager would expect and be prepared for.

He remembers that Typhoon is often used to hurt corporations (tho not in this case) and has his hackers get him in touch with the owner of the oil rigs nearby. He explains that Typhoon is bent on destroying them but he can't help until all of the villagers are safe, and he needs the hotel to do it. The person says he understands and soon buys the hotel giving the top 5 floors to the villagers :D

Of course, unbeknownst to Blue Beetle, the billionaire in question, Bruce Wayne, is Batman XDDD Robin is with him and he says that Beetle lied (about his oil rigs being the target) but did it well and it impressed him. XD

Beetle then goes after Typhoon and lures him out to sea. Typhoon chases, confident that more water will just make him stronger. Beetle goads him into fighting him near one of Bruce Wayne's oil rigs and Typhoon destroys it, sucking up all of the oil into his body. XD

Beetle sparks a fire in Typhoon and suddenly he's an inferno! Beetle explains that the more powerful Typhoon gets now, the stronger the fire will get since the air will just fuel it! :D

Typhoon is in pain and is forced to stop the storm altogether to save himself. XD Beetle saves him from falling into the water now that he's human.

Back at home Jaime cries in his room as his dad comes to comfort him. Jaime is upset that he let ppl die. His dad explains that it'll happen again and relates his own experiences fighting in the Gulf War. He says that every time it happens, Jaime will come back and he'll be there to tell him what a good person he is. :D

Review: AWWW YAY! :D

This issue captures everything I luff about Jaime Reyes! :D

He's compassionate, brave, heroic, but also not sure of himself, but he keeps it to himself instead of taking it out on others. :D He's also smart and nice :3

I like how Typhoon was impressed that Jaime tried talking to him first. XD That's something I rly like about Jaime and is something that Superman USED to do (and occasionally still does). And that's TALK to the villain first and find out what's going on or if there's a way to avoid fighting rather than just attacking him and starting a big 20 page fight. >.>;;;

I also like all of Jaime's "fights" are short and the "important" parts of the fights are when he comes up with a way to solve the problem :3

Calling Bruce Wayne was a great idea and playing up how much money would be lost and how much he wants to save the oil rigs, but he can't unless the villagers are safe. XD It's lucky that it's Bruce tho and not like.. Lex. XD

The second they showed the panel of the owner talking on the phone but only showed the lower part of his face and kept him all mysterious I *KNEW* it would be Bruce Wayne. XD It's ALWAYS Bruce!

And I like how Batman is impressed by Jaime's improvisation and his ability to lie. :D Batman seems to genuinely like Blue Beetle, but he also doesn't try to control his development as a hero (which is new xD) and it's rly great that way. :)

I like how Blue Beetle is tied to Batman and certain other heroes (Booster Gold, Guy Gardner), yet they dun actively feel like they need to mentor him AND he doesn't keep using them for favours or stuff. :D

Unlike.. say.. Supergirl. >.>;;

I was always annoyed that Loeb (esp with his final issue before he left for Marvel) explicitly tied Supergirl in with the Big 3, and made it so that she could use their stuff whenever she wanted, and basically made her one of the top characters in the DCU (in terms of status, since the big 3 luff her), without her actually having earnt it. >.>

While Beetle is definitely earning it :3

The Scarab counting down the number of ppl still alive was so sad but also well written! :D And seeing Jaime try harder and harder to save everybody as the death toll increased was sad but also rly showed how heroic he is. :) He might not have asked for this responsiblity but he doesn't shirk it at all. :D His dad is rightfully proud of him for this :3 As his dad pointed out, he didn't ask for the power or the responsiblity, but he's handling it well and trying his best :D

Compared to other young heroes who act like it's the worst thing evar to happen to them and they just get mad at ppl and blame everybody. >.>;;

And I love that Jaime is using his brain a lot :D I miss heroes who do that. :( Like Spider-Man! He used to do that a lot! And it's something I was always dissapointed that they removed from his character in the movies. :\ I liked it when he used his brain more often than his brawn and he often outsmarted his opponents :3 I also miss his one-liners! XD

I like how he turned Typhoon's strengths into a weakness and forced Typhoon to stop himself! :D

It was so smart! :3

I also like his supportive his parents are of him being a hero. That's new. XD Normally parents are all like "NO HEROING FOR J00000000" XD

I wonder what the Reach were up to tho. :(

YAY BRENDA!

I missed her :(

I'm glad she's back! She's obviously jealous! XD But we all knew she would be b/c it's been obvious since issue 1 that she and Jaime like each other. XD That's a bit cliched of course. The best friends ALWAYS like each other if they're opposite gender. >.> But it's written well and rly sweet :)

I'd like to see Traci 13 return tho. :D But it appears she was a guest star (like I thought XD) and wasn't being added to the cast.

Neways.. not much else to add :D

It was a rly rly rly great issue, and rly showed what I love so much about Jaime Reyes and why he's a true hero :D

Angelwings Rating: 6 smart Beetles out of 5 pleased Batmen
Recommendation: This is a great issue to read regardless of if you're a BB fan or not, and is also a good starting point to those that want to start :D

Week of July 25, 2007 Super Short Reviews :o

Meow meow :D

This is week is the week I officially drop Amazons Attack and all tie-ins XD I alrdy dropped Countdown and all tie-ins last week, so this completes the "crappy DC go die" part of my comic life XD

So no Teen Titans and horrible Beechen writing for me! :D

I feel a little bad b/c I dun get to review bad titles, which are always fun to review, but it also saves me money and grief :D

Besides... DC needs to be taught that crappy events will be dropped. >:|

I'm hoping that as Amazons Attack and Countdown progresses, more and more ppl will stop reading and this will make DC reconsider its idea for another 52 week series in 2008. :)

Neways, this is what I got today :D

Batman - #666
Blue Beetle - #17
Green Arrow: Year One - #2 (of 6)
Green Lantern Corps - #14
Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes - #32

:D

This wasn't a bad week in general :) Blue Beetle more than made up for some of the problems in the other books :D

Also, I skipped All-Star Batman and Robin again even tho it had Batgirl on the cover and she looked rly cool! :D I was tempted just to get it for that :( But I have to stick to my principles in not rewarding Frank Miller for taking a year to come out with his last issue >:|

If somebody thinks it's rly super awesome and worth my money tho, plz tell me :D

In general, if ppl have recommendations for something I'm not reading right now, let me know :D Keep in mind that I dun like getting into the middle of stuff, so it has to be something that'd be easy for me to get into :3 This esp applies to Marvel since I've read like.. nothing of Marvel since House of M and Civil War. >.>;;;

So here are the super short reviews :D

Batman - #666 - :\ I'm not a huge fan of Morrison like some ppl. >.>;; I think he can write great sometimes but other times it looks like he's just out of control with his creativity and the darkness that many authors seem to get lost in when writing about Batman. :\ But that's just my opinion XD This story is about the future and Damian Wayne as Batman. However, there's not a lot of explanation as to what happened, and Morrison is deliberately vague about it. Since this isn't being immediately followed up on, it makes the vagueness even more annoying. :( It's also very bloody. :( 2.5/5

Blue Beetle - #17 - This is one of the best stories I've ever read! :D It captures everything great about this Blue Beetle and why this book is such a breath of fresh air amongst all the other angsty teen heroes that cry about their personal lives when ppl are dying. >.>;; Jaime gets to stand alone again after 3 straight issues of guest stars and he shines once more :D The writing is just fantastic and everything about Jaime is realistic but also heroic :) 6/5

Green Arrow: Year One - #2 (of 6) - :o When I found out that they extended this series from 4 issues to 6 I thought this meant more time spent on the island, but apparently it's still compressed. :O It's a bit dissapointing that interesting stuff seems to be glossed over and Ollie's character development is so rushed! :( It ruins the story a bit since him changing is one of the most INTERESTING parts of his origin. However, there's still plenty of room for him to grow, so we'll see where the next 4 takes us :) It's a good read still :) 3/5

Green Lantern Corps - #14 - I dunno the GL corps very well so many of the characters involved are foreign to me. :( But it's still action packed and continues to paint the Sinestro Corps War as a very one sided and desperate affair, which makes for good drama :D Sinestro is rly coming into his own as a fearsome villain too, somebody who isn't just powerful but is mean and cruel and calculating :3 4/5

Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes - #32 - I MISS WAID AND KITSON! So much :( The art just does not fit this kind of book and the fun and personality of Waid's writing is just gone. :\ Supergirl is nowhere to be found, and there's a lot of exposition but not much explanation. :\ I'm dissapointed that this arc is seeming so pedestrian :( Esp compared to the Waid/Kitson run :D 2/5

:\

So that's it :D

I'll be putting up the longer reviews later!

I feel bad that my reviews have seemed less positive lately :( I blame DC >.>;; But maybe I'm just becoming jaded and mean :(

*sighs sadly*

Neways :) Take care!

The Brave and the Bold - #5

On Rann, Supergirl's rescued Green Lantern and Adam Strange but is flying out of control b/c Rann has 3 suns and she's 3x more powerful than usual! :O

They do some searching and find the man behind the Rannian underground which is fighting the Thanagarians. He turns out to be the person who stole the book of destiny from the gambling planet and has now made himself leader! :O

They look in the book and see that the Lords of Luck are standing right behind them!

Saturn Girl suddenly realizes what Batman's doing: the Haruspex will only fire if the target is a threat, and so Batman had to make himself into one! :O

Dream Girl tells Phantom Girl to fire and she does! Suddenly a Lord of Luck stands in front of them holding the book and the Haruspex saying that nothing can stop them now! :O

Review: :O Cooooool XD

This was so fun! :D

And Supergirl is still cute and Funderful! :D I guess this might be how the Legionnaires end up in the JLA Lightning Saga (*sigh*)? :o Esp Starboy/man b/c he was hurt near Batman and is lying nearby at the end? :o

I didn't like that this leads into Lightning Saga tho, b/c.. I just hate Meltzer's run on JLA and the Lightning Saga's take on the LoS in general. >:|

I just like the Kitson/Waid LoS and I dun like this "omg they met Superman" and "omg they're in the past looking like 20ish pornstars and wearing next to nothing and trying to bring back the Flash" thing. >.>;;

I just like the nice self contained LoS! >:|

But it's still fun to read them when Waid is writing and how Batman's being ebilly clever as he usually is! XD

I also like how he manages to keep ahead of them even tho they have super powers, numbers and technology! :D And how Brainy keeps underestimating him b/c he's so sure that Batman is stupid b/c he's from the past! XD

The Luck Lords are ebil and scary tho! :O They're giant green things with an eyeball for a head!

Eyeballs are gross in general :(

I can't wait to see everybody work together tho! :D

*cheers* :)

Neways.. there's no much else to say? :O It was super fun! :D Which is why I lurve this series! :D It's fun and exciting and you dun feel like it's "campy" or "silly" but you also know that the heroes will be okay and that it's not taking itself TOO seriously with deaths and rapes and wars and stuffs XD

Angelwings Rating: 4.5 smug Brainies out of 5 clever but outdated Batmen! :D
Recommendation: GET >:|

Birds of Prey - #108 Review

Birds of Prey - #108

Synopsis: The Secret Six gather themselves and get back into their car. Catman finds a note from Huntress saying that she likes nice guys and when he decides to be one she might still be interested. XD

Harley Quinn says she quits the team b/c Dan Didio thinks she'd be better in Countdown to get readership. >.>;;

Spy Smasher argues with the Birds on the plane ride home, trying to assert her authority.

When they return, Barbara challenges her to a fight and Manhunter hits her in the knee knocking her down. :O

Barbara fights Spy Smasher and beats her! :D

Angered, Spy Smasher gets up and starts to leave swearing to use her influence to bring Barbara down but is confronted by a large group of heroes! :O

They include:

Huntress
Gypsy
Vixen
Katana
Judo Master
Catwoman
Manhunter
Metamorpho
Nightwing
Misfit (YAY!)
Power Girl
Wildcat
Conner Hawke
Green Arrow
Big Barda
Lady Shiva
Lady Blackhawk
Hawkgirl

and Black Canary who explains to her that all of the heroes support Barbara and that if Spy Smasher tried to exert her influence, they'd all band together and do bad things to her. :O

She leaves without a fight XD

Some girl talk ensues XD

Barbara then goes to an alley and finds Misfit, who, as she suspects is homeless. :O

Misfit explains that she never met her dad and her family was poor but got by okay. There was a fire b/c the landlord bribed the inspectors and she was forced to abandon her family by teleporting away b/c she can't teleport with other ppl and her mom wanted her to be safe :(

Barbara offers Misfit a home with the Birds and she accepts. :D

Review: Awwwww :(

Sad ;-;

I dunno. :( I might prefer Gail on Birds than Wonder Woman, just b/c it seems like the higher profile book you're on in DC nowadays, the more power the editors or whatever have over your story b/c of this "editorial driven" thingie they're doing now >:|

So she might be forced to write dumb plots that she wouldn't want to. Like Wonder Woman taking some time off to find herself as a stripper or something >:|

But still, this was a good farewell issue! :D

To me it seemed kinda impromptu tho? Clearly it didn't seem (to me neways) that Gail introduced Spy Smasher only to get rid of her a few issues later >.>;; So she prolly didn't expect to leave the book so soon for WW? :o

I munno. :o

It seemed a little rushed. :O

I almost feel bad for Spy Smasher being bullied like that! :O

But all the heroes together was cool! XDDD

I also like how the fight on the cover happens exactly that way in the book.

I know I read at least one person who was complaining non stop about it, but I never had a problem with Barbara fighting out of the chair.

How ELSE is she supposed to fight?

Disabled ppl are not USELESS outside their chairs!

As I kept saying, my best friend is in a wheelchair, he has a bad spine and weak legs, and one of his legs was amputated when he was younger. :(

But he does so much out of the chair! In fact he's often not in it. :o He can move around by himself with his arms, and climb stairs while bringing his chair up WITH him :D

If he was to fight he wouldn't just sit in his chair and roll over ppl's toes or something! XD

So I liked this! :D

I dunno if crippling Spy Smasher is such a good idea? It seems like it's "to make it fair"? But I dun think it's necessary, Barbara can beat her neways! :D

I just hated reading that person say that knocking a person out of their wheelchair is cruel. It's not possible that Barbara left it on purpose? It's not possible that she's NOT UTTERLY HELPLESS outside of it?

In fact that "compassion" seems more condescending to me than nething!

It'd be the same as saying a cover with Lady Shiva fighting Batman is "cruel" b/c it's a man fighting a woman and clearly unfair to the woman and mean to them. >.>;;

That's only true in the Beechen-verse where women suck even if they are the greatest martial artist in the world! XD

I thought the Misfit part was a bit over the top tho. :(

It reminds me of applications for an RPG I used to run which was about a school and ppl kept giving crazy applications where they tried to make themselves the most sympathetic character EVAR! Dead parents, dead siblings, abuse, etc... everybody was like trying to top the other!

One even literally wrote that her character had 14 dead siblings in her past (not due to a single event like a war or something)! >.>;;

How sympathetic does Misfit have to be?

I'm amused that Barbara says that she knew Misfit was poor b/c her costume wasn't very good. :o

That hasn't stopped every other superhero who doesn't have money from making a super awesome costume tho! XD Just ask Spider-Man >.>;;

But... if her dad left before she was born (as implied since she never met him), how does she have a baby sibling? She's like 12 supposedly when her brother/sister was a baby. Did her mom meet another guy? :o

It just seems like the baby was thrown in to make the family more sympathetic! :(

She's shown the ability to warp across the world :O Couldn't she have warped to the fire station to get help? :O

Or warp the wall away? She said that nothing living survived bouncing with her, but she can bounce with inanimate objects (or she'd be naked all the time) can't she? :o

Or have her mom jump out the window and warp underneath her, catch her, warp down another foot, catch her, etc.. eventually you'd reach ground... >.>;;

But obviously in a panic situation you prolly wouldn't think of that! XD

So I'm just coming up with alternatives, I'm not saying it's a bad story! :O

But it is a little over the top to my tastes? :\ And I'm all about tragic backgrounds! XD

I just didn't think she needed to be THAT TRAGIC.

In fact I kinda liked the idea she was rich and popular but preferred to be a hero cuz she was still lonely? :O

Or at least more normal. :(

I'm just tired of the orphaned/estranged/etc teenage superhero trope. :(

They even had to make Tim an orphan!

I guess for the same reason why you never see parents in teen drama shows and stuff. It makes it more annoying. It's more fun to write teenagers if they have no parental restrictions, or homework, or school. >.>;;

But still! It would be nice to have more teen heroes with families. :( Like the Blue Beetle! :D

I wish Misfit and Jaime would meet each other!

They'd be SOOOOO cute together! :D

Why IS Shiva back? Maybe she wants to go beat up Robin... or Adam Beechen! XD

I'm surprised Batman wasn't there. :O But he's prolly busy playing WoW on his laptop while Amazons destroy Washington DC! XD

I guess that throwaway line with Harley explains why she's in Countdown? >.>;;

*sighs*

I'm tired of these editorially driven storylines! >:|

Neways!

I'm gonna miss Gail on BoP :( It was one of my favourite books and was one I could count on to be consistantly good, or at least not bad at the worst :D

*sighs*

Hopefully she gets enuf freedom on Wonder Woman to make it just as good! :D

*hugs to Gail* :)

Angelwings Rating: 4 out of 5 humiliated Spy Smashers :D
Recommendation: A great going away issue, and worth getting for BoP fans :)

Checkmate - #16 Review

Checkmate - #16

Synopsis: 22 months ago, Mr. Terrific and Sasha Bordeaux meet at Checkmate HQ as they try to get things up and running. Thx to Brother Eye, Sasha sees every human as a potential target to kill, except for Mr. Terrific b/c he's invisible to machines. Mr. Terrific notices that she seems uncomfortable around him and confronts her. She says it's b/c he's beautiful b/c he's the only human that doesn't have those target thingies on him so he's beautiful to her :O

In the present, The Black King says that his Bishop, Shen Li Po, has been recalled by China b/c of a "family emergency" which they find convenient in lieu of what just happened with China in the last arc.

The Thinker offers to help the Black King run his operations while they find a new bishop for him.

The Black King is alerted that Checkmate has taken Ice to safety in Canada, and he decides to send Fire to talk to her. :D

Mr. Terrific convinces Sasha to go to the JSA HQ with him to be examined after her torture at the hands of Egg-Fu. >:|

In Nova Scotia, Fire meets with Ice and they have a happy reunion :D

We go back to the past where Mr. Terrific talks to Dr. Midnite who is examining Sasha. Midnite says that they love each other and that Terrific should take the chance to do something about it b/c love is special and a gift and he wouldn't be betraying the memory of his dead wife by pursuing it. :)

Now in the present, Sasha is examined and found to be in perfect health as the nanobots have repaired her body completely after Egg-Fu took it apart. :(

Dr. Midnite tells Mr. Terrific that Sasha's not afraid of becoming a machine, she alrdy believes that she is, but she's afraid that everybody else will think of her as one, esp Terrific. :O

Fire wants to quit Checkmate and be with Ice, but Ice says not to b/c she believes Fire is a hero. Fire doesn't believe so b/c of all the bad she's done, but Ice says she is a hero. :D

In Switzerland, in the past again, Sasha and Terrific finally admit their love for each other and kiss. :D

In the present, Sasha sees August General in Irons in Checkmate (XD) and hits him b/c he was there when she was tortured and left instead of stopping Egg-Fu. He says he was under orders but she's still mad! >:|

However, Black King says that August General is his new Bishop, a temporary replacement for Shen! :O

Sasha goes away and mopes but is interrupted by the Thinker who tells her that Terrific wants to talk to her.

In Switzerland, they meet again and Terrific says that they were wrong to deny their love for each other just b/c of their professional duties and they have smex. :O

However, Mirror Master is in the mirror in their room (with some kind of collar on him) and takes pictures! :O

Review: Creepy! >:|

Mirror Master's a PERV!!!!

I guess b/c of his collar tho it means that he was actually captured (b/c of his role in killing the Flash prolly) and is working for somebody. :o Prolly Waller and Taskforce X/Suicide Squad again :\

It makes sense that Waller would want incriminating photos of the 2 ppl involved in trying to expose her tho! :o

Fire and Ice's reunion was SO sweet! :D Super sweet! XD I hope we get a Guy/Ice reunion too!!!

Ice is so cute and positive and stuff and perfect to help Fire right now! :D

It must be horrible for her to realize what's happened to the League tho! :( As far as nebody knows, Booster is dead, Ralph is dead, Sue is dead, Max is ebil and dead, Beetle is dead, Rocket Red is dead, Captain Atom is dead (and sekritly Monarch) and Fire is now a killer. :(

And Martian Manhunter is ebil and anti-human!

:(

*smighs*

I miss the happy JLA days tho!

Now we have just anger and heroes fighting heroes and being ebil, and wars, and other bad things :(

And death after death after death. :\

Also torture and rapes. :(

Tho at least Sasha wasn't raped. :o

It's sad when we have to say "at least". =_=;; But they made that CLEAR, which was prolly important for Rucka to lay out so that ppl dun say "maybe she was raped too". :\

I rly do hate the state of the world that whenever a woman is captured and/or tortured, there's a wondering if she was raped too. I always hate reading in the news like, a woman is mugged, robbed.. and raped. Or how when they have death squads in those war torn countries and then they also rape the women before killing them horribly!

It's awful! >:| It's like "well since we're here anyways, let's also rape her". >:|

*GROWLS*

The Terrific/Sasha romance was super cute too! :D Tho I thought the "you're beautiful" line was a little contrived XDDD

But still! Cute :D

I've always been confused by Terrific's powers tho. According to him he can't be recorded or seen or nething by electronic devices or machines. :o So how come he can use a phone? Or a video phone? Or be photographed? Or talk to the Thinker? He's recorded quite a LOT actually. :o

How can Mirror Master taking pictures of him work?

Exactly how specific is his powers? :o Can old cameras take pictures of him but not digital cameras? :o

So confusing :(

But still, Terrific communicates via radio/video phone/phone/recording a lot in the comics, but supposedly they shouldn't be able to pick him up! :O

>.>;;

I think it'd be rly annoying to have a power like that!

You'd think that given Mirror Master's powers and how often they've had to deal with him, that ppl would have safeguards in place! ESP Checkmate! You would think that Checkmate would have safeguards to prevent all known Metahumans from just breaching their premises!

Tho if MM IS working for Amanda Waller I guess maybe she let him in? :o

I find Thinker's super eagerness to help the Black King to be very suspicious. :\ He was very interested to help AND was super sucking up and stuff. >.>;; Maybe he's up to things? :O Everybody in this book is always up to things :(

It's awful that Checkmate let August General work with them tho since he participated in torture of one of their leaders! Or at least sanctioned it. >:|

I thought the Egg-Fu thing was supposedly a "rogue" operation operated out of North Korea and China condemned it. Obviously this is a smokescreen since China is ebil in the DCU, but if it is supposedly true, then either August General was in league with Egg-Fu and should be arrested, OR he's working for China and therefore China WAS involved in torturing Sasha!

How can August General be under orders to assist Egg-Fu and yet be innocent in all this? Either the orders came from China and therefore China is complicit or he acted on his own and is an international criminal now!!!

>:|

Neways! I dunno why ppl aren't MORE mad! Sasha has EVERY RIGHT to be angry about having to work with somebody involved with her torture and dismemberment!

*growls*

However! :D

This was a very sweet book in general and both the Fire/Ice and Sasha/Terrific relationships were great and well written! :D Also it's a good "break" issue after all the craziness that's been happening lately. And also is a nice change of pace from the horrors of Countdown and Amazons Attack! XD

Angelwings Rating: 5 out of 5 happy relationships :)
Recommendation: A great issue to get! :D Even for new readers :)

Amazons Attack - #4 Review

Amazons Attack - #4

Synopsis: A rly stupid WW2esque propaganda thing plays on TV.

Wonder Woman tells her mother to kill her. Suddenly Superman appears and snatches Hippolyta away, turning her over to the authorities and ending the war.

>.>

No wait.

Superman appears and snatches DIANA AWAY, needlessly PROLONGING the war.

Diana tells Superman to let go of her but he doesn't cuz he's a strong manly man and doesn't take no guff from a wimmin. >.>

Supergirl and Wonder Girl beat up planes and force the president's surrender.

Batman and the rest of the JLA and JSA gather and talk instead of.. like... fighting. Batmans say that technological terrorists are also fighting the US and Diana says it's the Bana.

Oracle tells Batman that the Bana are attacking Gotham and Batman leaves to tell A MYSTERIOUS PERSON to infiltrate the organization.

READ CATWOMAN!

>.>

Suddenly, Air Force One is attacked by Amazons on flying horses! Supergirl prevents the plane from going down >.>

Grace is approached by Bana who tell her to join them.

Red Arrow is about to die (YAY!) but Superman saves him (boo >:|) Superman says that now that Red Arrow is JLA, he can ask for help whenever he wants.

Wonder Girl and Supergirl are unable to protect the president from the Amazons but luckily Superman shows up! Strong manly man that he is. >.>

Superman confronts the unwashed Amazons and gives them a pep talk which renews their goodness and Amazon spirit!

e_e

Suddenly the US Army appears and kills them all!

Superman, Wonder Girl and Supergirl quickly flee the scene >.>

The wounded pegasus of the leader of that Amazon group crashes to the ground in front of Hippolyta, Artemis and Phillipe. Hippolyta thinks that this means the Gods have abandoned her. Suddenly a bright light appears and a giant force field appears over Washington DC. o_O

Hippolyta says that the Gods support her once more >.>

Somebody lurks in the background.. it's...

CIRCE!!!!

DUN DUN DUN

Review: "Her name is Circe. Enemy of human and Amazon alike.

She's supposed to be dead.

She's NOT."

OH
MA
GAWD

Circe's not dead!?

My entire belief system is SHATTERED!!!!

*falls down*

This issue was so horrible. >.>

Starting with that opening!

I know last issue had that too but I didn't pay much attention to that one.

I'm sorry, even in the modern wars, we've never used that type of WW2 cliched propaganda things!

We have modern propaganda >.>

But this comes off as VERY heavy handed! Like "see during war, the TV stations promote the patriotic agenda no matter what! omg I'm so clever!"

=_=;;

3 days. >.>

The heroes have been fighting nonstop for 72 hours?

Dun ppl need SLEEP!?

What have they been DOING for 72 hours?

And this is just unforgivible.

SUPERMAN'S RIGHT THERE!!!

AND HE SNATCHES UP DIANA!?

They have more important things to worry about?

YOU MEAN OTHER THAN STOPPING A WAR THAT'S KILLING INNOCENT PPL and DESTROYING AN ENTIRE CITY!?

If the Amazons have the ability to easily leave Washington (as they proved when attacking Air Force One), why haven't they?

When did Amazons Attack become a Superman story?

This entire issue was about how great Superman is =_=;;

I can understand why ppl like my sister are so offended by the story. >:| It seems like it's about "those crazy feminists" and proving why they suck. It's like the scene where the female pilot is killed by the Amazons and then GL rescues a woman right after.

Like "strong women hate other women, but you can count on men to save you"

Even Diana is out of control (apparently) and needs to be reined in by Superman.

And DIANA, DONNA and CASSIE can't talk down the Amazons but SUPERMAN can!?

And then they're all killed.

AND SUPERMAN JUST SHRUGS IT OFF!

So does Cassie and Kara.

They're just like "oh well".

But lesse.

Amazons are crazy, Artemis, Phillipe and Diana are unable to talk them down. Superman does tho!

Wonder Woman is too emotional. Superman has to capture her and calm her down.

Wonder Girl and Supergirl are panicked and got themselves in over their heads! Superman rescues them. >.>

SUPERMAN IS SO COOL! This may not be intentionally sexist but it's certainly playing off as very sexist. :\

Kara doesn't know what to do when the President is hurt and says "thank god" when Superman arrives.

B/c.. like... Kara doesn't have Superman's powers or nething.

Kara can't just scoop up the President and fly him to safety.

Why would Hippolyta send a squad of Amazons out to attack Air Force One when she spent last issue patting herself on the back about tricking Supergirl and Wonder Girl into going after the President, thus saving her from having to send out her own ppl?

How is it that Superman, Supergirl and Wonder Girl can be standing RIGHT THERE and all 3 move faster and react faster than bullets, and yet none of them were able to protect the Amazons from the troops!?

*sighs*

SO HORRIBLE!

Who are the Bana? :\ I know who they are NOW after Wiki-ing them. But there's no explanation in the book as to who they are. And it seems like they just pulled the "this isn't the Bana that WE know b/c that wouldn't make sense, this is a convenient splinter cell that's EBIL" out of their butts >.>;;;

Why does Batman have to go to Gotham? Isn't coordinating a war important? Can't he send somebody else to talk to Catwoman?

And this "go read Catwoman" thing is STUPID!

Honestly, it went like this:

Batman: I have to go talk to somebody I can't tell you who it is so the fans will have to find out.

Editor: Go read Catwoman.

Hmm..

COULD IT BE CATWOMAN HE WANTS TO TALK TO!?

I thought Phillipe and Artemis wanted to stop Hippolyta, why are they suddenly on her side again?

So the Gods are back and Hippolyta can talk to them? o_O;;;

OH MAH GAWD A GIANT FORCEFIELD!

*sighs*

Honestly it's like DC wants to see just how bad they can make this mega event. :\

Superman tells Red Arrow he's in the JLA now and that's why he rescued him and that as a "perk" of JLA membership he can ask for help from Superman whenever.

>.>

SUPERMAN HELP!!!

"Sorry Lois, you're not a member of the Justice League! Red Arrow needs me to open a can of cat food! G'bye!"

I thought Superman helped EVERYBODY! He doesn't prioritize based on who you are. He tries to watch out for EVERYBODY.

So if another hero asked for his help he'd just go "nuh uh, you're not cool like Red Arrow!"

Wtfever >.>

Wonder Woman says she doesn't want to fight her mom and is willing to die. YET. The DC solicit for #6 says: "Wonder Woman takes on Hippolyta in a duel that can have only one outcome."

So.. it seems like they're just going to end up fighting to the death later? Okaaayyy...

IT STILL MAKES NO SENSE WHY SUPERMAN WOULD CAPTURE WONDER WOMAN AND NOT HIPPOLYTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazons Attack is becoming worse than Civil War in terms of mischaracterizing heroes and making everybody out to be a jerkface or a moron. =_=;;;

*flails*

I think I'm so done with this. Like Countdown, it's being dropped >_<;;

Angelwings Rating: 1 manly man Supermen out of 5 silly girl warriors
Recommendation: DIE AMAZONS ATTACK DIE! >:|

Week of July 18, 2007 Super Short Reviews

*Yawns*

I'm rly tired :(

Neways, I've officially dropped Countdown (and Countdown related stuffs) :D

And I feel better for it alrdy! XD

I haven't dropped Amazons Attack yet, but I might now. :(

Today I got:

Amazons Attack - #4 (of 6)
Birds of Prey - #108
The Brave and the Bold - #5
Catwoman - #69
Checkmate - #16
Welcome to Tranquility - #8
World War Hulk - #2 (of 5)

Yus.. I'm bad :( I should stop Amazons soon. :\

Also Catwoman is now tied into Amazons too. >:|

*sighs*

Neways, here are my super short reviews! :D

Amazons Attack - #4 (of 6) - >.> There's several reveals in this issue and all of them fall very very flat. :\ Esp since I had to wiki who one of the reveals was. :| The issue does a very poor job of explaining itself. :( Also, b/c it's becoming almost a joke now, the big reveal at the end is... Circe. XDDDD There I spoiled it. XD The whole war makes even less sense before after this issue. :( 1/5

Birds of Prey - #108 - Not a lot happened in this issue, but it was very fun! :D Is this Gail Simone's last issue? :O It feels like it :O If it is, then it's a great one to go out on! :D Also we learn things about Misfit! Things! :D It's a little contrived tho (Mary Sue nebody XD), but it's still a good story :) Also Barbara gets to kick ass! :D 4/5

The Brave and the Bold - #5 - Super crazy happy fun! :D I rly love this series, and this book just continues the trend :D It's not AS fun as the others mainly b/c there's not enuf interaction between Batman and the Legion, but it's still great fun! :D 4.5/5

Catwoman - #69 - >.>;; I hate Amazons Attack. I rly do. >:| This issue doesn't shed much light on the Amazons Attack story either, and in fact just adds more confusion. :\ Plus Batman's priorities are oddly misplaced in this war. >.> 2/5

Checkmate - #16 - Illuminating! :O This issue is mostly a flashback and it works well! :D Also it stars the HOTTEST COUPLE IN COMICS. Which is a total plus! XD I rly enjoyed this issue and altho it wasn't a standard Checkmate type of story it worked rly well in developing the characters PLUS there's the super luffly and sweet Ice/Fire reunion! :D Awwww XD Now we just need Guy :( 5/5

Welcome to Tranquility - #8 - More flashbacks! :D I rly like how the issue is made of 3 seperate stories that intertwine and tie together :D The last story is a bit disturbing tho. :( But all 3 stories gave us a good glimpse into why characters are who they are and also set up some stuff for the future :D 5/5

World War Hulk - #2 (of 5) - Warful! :O Lots of fighting.. and craziness!!! There's not a lot of depth to WWH but that's okay! XD If you accept that it's just one big bash fest it's quite enjoyable! XD I just wish heroes would STOP FIGHTING EACH OTHER at some point in the Marvel and DCU's :\ 4/5

:D

Neways.. I'm sorry my Super Short Reviews suck so much tonite!

I'm finding it INCREDIBLY hard to type properly right now. :\ I'm writing the wrong words so often!

Like I wrote "fighting" instead of finding. :(

And I keep mispelling words too! XD

And not on purpose either >.>

*sighs*

I need sleep :(

*hugs all*

Good nite!

I'll put up the longer reviews tomorrow :)

Green Arrow: Year One - #1 (of 6) Review

Green Arrow: Year One - #1 (of 6)

Synopsis: A young Oliver Queen is treking across the North Pole with his handler who tells him that this is as close to the magnetic North pole as they'll get. Ollie doesn't want to stop and runs across a thin ice bridge which collapses! :O Luckily he's rescued by his friend.

He's lectured by his friend about how irresponsible he is and how he keeps trying to fill a hole in his life by doing risky things. He doesn't listen. >.>;; Ollie decides to call for a helicopter to pick them up instead of trekking back. >.>

Three days later at a charity fundraiser, Hackett (his hired friend XD) tells him that he has a business proposal from a Chien Na-Wei (China White as Ollie hears it >.>) that will give him a 40% return on an investment. He says it's kind of illegal but Ollie is okay with that. :o

The bidding starts at the auction and the first piece is a bow that used to belong to Howard Hill who did the arrow trick shots for Errol Flynn in the Adventures of Robin Hood. :O This excites Ollie who says he always liked Robin Hood b/c he stuck it to the rich and got the girl. Hackett reminds Ollie that he IS rich and that Robin Hood also gave to the poor. >.>

Ollie bids a hundred thousand dollars and wins easily. >.> However, when he gives his speech, he gives a drunken speech about how rich ppl dun care about poor ppl and that at least he's honest about it. Then he throws up >.>

In the limo, Ollie laments making a fool out of himself and suggests going on the trip to Fiji with Hackett to invest his money like Hackett suggested. Hackett tells him not to but he insists. >.>

On the trip, he practices shooting with the arrow saying that Hill actually taught him how to shoot as a kid and that if he actually gets good at this one thing his whole life might not have been a waste after all.

However, Hackett then reveals that he was planning to run off with Ollie's money (14 million) and never have to take another order again. That's why he didn't want Ollie coming along! Ollie prepares to shoot him with the arrow but Hackett mocks him for being a spoiled rich kid. Ollie snaps and tries to attack him but Hackett pulls a gun on him! :O

Ollie refuses to believe that Hackett could kill him in cold blood and hits him! They fight but Ollie loses. Hackett calls his mysterious "boss" and says that it's done. The boss tells him to shoot Ollie twice in the head before getting rid of the body. Hackett realizes that Ollie was right and that he can't kill somebody in cold blood. However, he tosses Ollie's body overboard neways, reasoning that the sea will kill him.

Review: Ollie's a jerk! XD He's like the anti-Batman. >.>;;; His parents died leaving him billions, but instead of using it to help ppl, he just squanders it. :O

It IS obvious where this is going, but then again it's not like Green Arrow's origins are a big sekrit or nething!

I like how it sets him up as a real spoiled rich kid who doesn't care about nebody tho. :D I also like his speech and how he says at least he's honest about it, cuz I AM tired of ppl who say that!

Like... I'm just sick of how being a jerk is okay cuz "at least you're honest about it". It's like if you say "I'm a big jackass" and then punch somebody in the face, it's somehow better than just punching a person in the face cuz at least you admit you're a jackass!? :\

Honestly, if some rich ppl CLAIM to be generous, and give millions to charity when in fact we know it's a PR thing, and that millions dun mean nething to them, it's STILL BETTER, than somebody who just says "I'm a selfish bastard! At least I'm honest" and gives nothing.

How is admitting that you're a bad person somehow a good thing? Ultimately, even if rich ppl are not serious about being generous, at least they DO give some money. I doubt the ppl getting money rly care about whether the person giving it cares about them or not >.>;;

Or ppl who are cruel and mean and insulting to ppl, and then say "at least I'm honest!" >.>;; Or "telling it like it is". I'm just tired of it. :(

It's like an excuse to soothe their conscience, that at least they're not pretending to be good, so they've accepted that they're bad. :\

Rant over!

I hope Ollie learns his lessons tho! But I think he will? :D

Are we going with the story that Ollie became a superhero afterwards for the thrills (and only later when he lost his fortune did he become a good person) or are we going with the story that he comes back a changed man and becomes a superhero to be a good person? :O

I hope it's the latter! :D

I dun think ppl need to become poor to care about the poor. :(

Hackett is interesting!

I dunno much about Green Arrow. Is Hackett an important character or just created for this mini? :O

I hope he turns out to help GA or something? At least not get killed. >.>;;

Is "China White" a real person or did he make her up? He never answered Ollie's question about that, and he refers to the person on the other end of the phone as "bitch", so it implies that his boss is a woman? :O

I hope she's not some Dragon Lady stereotype. :(

I can't wait to see Ollie change on the island tho and stuff! :D

*cheers* :)

I also like that this series is bi-monthly so we dun have to wait too long for the next one! :D It's weird tho! On the cover it says it's 4 issues, but according to DCcomics.com, it's 6 issues? :O Maybe they thought they needed more issues to tell the story and that's why it's bi-monthly so it wouldn't take 2 extra months to wrap up? :O

At least it's only gonna last 3 months! I hope there are no delays. :( I'm tired of these books being so delayed. :(

It's still a good start tho! :D

Angelwings Rating: 3.5 out of 5 spoiled Ollie Queens
Recommendation: Worth checking out, esp if you're a Green Arrow fan :D

Green Lantern - #21 Review

Green Lantern - #21

Synopsis: Hal Jordan kneels amongst the ruins of Oa as lanterns gather their wounded and the death toll continues to go up. :(

Jordan tries top help Tomar-Tu but the anti-Jordan Lanterns tell him to go away. This makes Guy angry. >.>;;

In the Hall of Great Service, the various Guardians gather together to with the book of Oa. They want to destroy it, but Ganthet thinks that they need to read the final chapter to stop what's to come. He says that they need to seek out emotions once again instead of ignoring them. The others disagree and destroy the chapter of the Blackest Night saying that it was told by Abin-Sur out of fear and that it was recorded out of fear, therefore it's false and ebil. >.>

All over the universe, Lanterns are being killed. :(

Ganthet and the female Guardian (now known as Sayd) appear to Hal Jordan and try to convince him to lead the Lanterns but he refuses saying that they dun like him. Poor emo boy. :(

Ganthet insists that Hal is the only one who can lead and then vanishes.

Jordan, Stewart and Gardner charge up their rings in the central power battery but discover that Sinestro's laid a trap in it for them!

Jordan sees a yellow vision of his dad's death and feels fear that his dad died in fear. >.>;;

Kylax appears and taunts Jordan. Jordan says that they beat him before but Kylax reveals that Jordan is now on Qward, and Jordan sees hundreds of Sinestro Corps members behind him! :O

Review: Why must heroes be so unaccepting of their destinies! XDDDD

I vote for Guy as leader! >:o

Or John. >.>;;; I think John would make a great leader :)

Emotions are good! Ppl who get rid of them are bad! Didn't Enterprise teach you nething!? XDD

Those Guardians are dumb! Srsly dumb. How DID they become Guardians of the Universe when they're THAT DUMB! OMG THE PROPHECY CANNOT BE TRUE B/C WE DUN WANT IT TO BE! What? Lanterns dying everywhere? That's not proof that it's true!

I'm tired of stupid leader ppl who are willfully ignorant b/c it suits the plot for them to be so. >.>

But I still liked this story! Lots and lots! :D

Whenever I read a Johns mega event, it's like watching a summer blockbuster. XD You can't think about it too hard, b/c it's not meant to be nething more than it is. :D This is a fun event with lots of death and fightings and good guys and bad guys and Kylax! :D

I hope Kyle breaks free tho :(

I would like to see Guyax (Guyallax? Guax? Garlax?)! I bet not even Parallax could keep control of Guy >.>

I also like how everything goes back to Abin-Sur? :D I like the fact that he wasn't just some random Lantern who died, but that he is key to this even tho he's dead :D

I hope that Jordan takes command in a natural way tho and not just some thing where he saves ppl and the Lanterns that hate him go "omg we love you now plz lead us!" I just think that it'd be too forced if b/c Jordan beats Sinestro at the end that everybody is okay with him again. :\

I like the idea that many dun like him. :D It makes him less of a Gary Stu, and also gives Guy fun reasons to be mad! :D

Neways! I can't wait for more of this! I wish that THIS event was overlapping with other DC stories and NOT Amazons Attack >.>;;;

Angelwings Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Kylaxes
Recommendation: Get :D

Superman - #664 Review

Superman - #664

Synopsis: Trickster watches the news which says that the area around Arion and Superman has been evacuated. :o

Arion tries to take over Superman's mind with his spell but Superman resists, having trained with J'onn after the Max Lord mind-control incident. He starts to break free when suddenly a bunch of soldiers in funny armour attack him!

2 New Godlings watch on. :o

Lois tries to question the person in charge of the assault but he says it's a government operation.

Arion watches the fight but when the soldiers attack him (thinking correctly that he's trying to mind control Superman), he flees.

Superman manages to free himself from the assault and pursues Arion when he's hit by a giant pie courtesy of the Prankster (who is helping to stop Superman)! :O

The JLA and JSA then appear blocking Superman's way.

Superman finally convinces them that he's not under mind control and he tries to follow Arion but loses track of him. :o

Superman notices that Batman didn't try to stop him and figures that with the loss of his Kryptonite ring, Batman is trying to develop new ways to defeat Superman. XD

Superman confronts the leader of the attack squad who turns out to be Col. Perseus Hazard, and the team is called Squad K, put together to stop Superman if he ever went rogue or became the victim of mind control. Superman understands why they exist, even if he feels a little annoyed about it.

He flies off and breaks into the underground liar of the Prankster, capturing him and his girl helpers. :o Prankster promises to have a lawyer ready to help prevent his girls from having to go to jail. :)

Superman listens to the city in the rain promising to stop Arion.

Review: :D

I liked this story! A lot! :3

Esp how even if there's a hint that Superman's gone ebil, suddenly everybody jumps into action!

It makes sense given what's happened lately and what Max Lord did with Superman in his control :D

It also makes sense that Superman would take lessons from J'onn to fight mind control after that! :D

Tho... can nebody rly blame Batman for coming up with anti-JLA plans now? It seems like everybody else has anti-Superman plans, so it turns out Batman's fears were justified! :o

I've never blamed Batman for having anti-JLA plans tho. :o And if I was a Superhero, I'd understand why ppl would have anti-me plans, just cuz having that much power carries huge consequences if I were to use that power for ebil. :( And the risk of Superman snapping or being mind control is prolly too big to take b/c he could easily kill millions before ppl even realize what's going on. :\

Squad K was cool! :D I esp like how desperate they were! They clearly know their target and know how fast they need to act to keep Superman down!

I'm confused as to why Batman isn't there tho? I thought Batman has lots of other ways to fight Superman PLUS ways to synthesize Kryptonite (according to the JLA issue Tower of Babel neways), or is that all retconned away with Superboy Prime punching the magic wall? :(

Also, doesn't Batman still have his red Kryptonite isotope that turns Superman transparent and causes him great pain? Or did he throw it away out of guilt? :o

I just expected that after getting away from the JLA Batman would suddenly appear and beat on him as a seperate obstacle! XDD

Or Supergirl! Wouldn't she love an excuse to beat up Superman? XDDD

>.>

I DO feel bad for Superman tho :( It's kind of insulting and annoying that your friends and allies would be standing by to defeat you at any moment, but it's still understandable and I'm glad that Superman understands? :D

Maybe this proves Arion wrong tho? B/c his attempt to control Superman and the fact that Squad K realizes that they still can't stop Superman, will force Squad K to get better and thus humanity to improve? So when Khyber appears maybe humanity will be prepared to fight him alone? :O

>.>

That would be weird! Superman helps humanity by being a threat!

I also rly liked how the Prankster is nice to his lackeys and provides for them and keeps them out of jail! :D I like the Prankster in general! He doesn't seem very ebil, just fun loving and mischievious. >.>;;

Also he cares about his employees! :D

Even Superman admits that >.>

I guess this Arion story isn't ending tho? :( At least it's getting more interesting!

What I rly liked about this whole issue tho is that things aren't STATIC. Ppl LEARN from past events, and instead of "Superman gets mind controlled and goes on a rampage before being stopped at the last moment" every time, now ppl are prepared in case Superman is mind controlled and rdy to stop him! :D

It must be scary to be a member of Squad K tho. :( Fighting Superman :( He's so powerful! :O

Neways :D This is a good issue and should be read by all! ^_^

Angelwings Rating: 5 mind controlled Superman out of 5 Squad Ks!
Recommendation: READ :D

Countdown - #42 Review

Countdown - #42

Synopsis: Trickster has a dream where he sees Bart Allen being killed the Rogues in front of him and Piper. :O

He wakes up handcuffed to Piper with a special sort of cuffs. Deadshot is there and he explains that the cuffs will electrocute both of them if they try to break free from each other. :O

In Gotham, Mary Marvel sees an explosion and Riddler in the vicinity. She captures Riddler who swears innocence since he's a private eye now. :o He convinces her to follow him to find the real culprit! :o

In Metropolis Holly Robinson talks to Harley Quinn who reveals that Athena (the Goddess) started the women's shelter and that there are branches all over. :o

Donna and Jason and the Monitor find Ryan Choi and they turn small to find Ray Palmer.

Mary and Riddler track down Clayface and Mary sends him into space. o_O Riddler suggests that Mary find somebody who can teach her how to use her powers.

Batman watches and the Karate Kid shows up behind him. They bicker and the Karate Kid leaves.

Jimmy draws pictures of superhero costume ideas. Lois shows up, mocks them and leaves.

Trickster detonates an explosive he hid in his teeth and he and Piper escape but when they leave the room they find out they're in a plane and they fall!

>.>;;;

Review: You can tell I rly am not getting into a plot when my plot summaries are just "this happened and then that happened". :\ Cuz there's rly nothing ELSE going on. Things are HAPPENING but we're not rly learning nething about the characters and no real developments are shown or spoken about worth noting. It's just.. they're there.. and they do stuff. =_=;;

ALSO THE ART IS TERRIBLE!

The art for Countdown has been subpar in general but this issue they reached a new low. >:|

Holly is back to being the mallgirl wearing pink. Plus she looks around 40 years old. At the very least she doesn't look like Holly. >:|

The art is also very sloppy. It's like the artist just stopped caring about what he was drawing >:| Her sloth like hands disturb me >.>;;;

And then Holly and Harley's legs become a billion feet long! That's like.. Liefeld length! And then suddenly they shorten and she looks like a zombie.

>:|

I know artists do lose detail when they draw smaller, but this is among the worst I've seen lately. :\

And then there's Atom and Jason Todd. Or should I say kid Mongul and Hank Hill.

<.<

That is the most awful picture of Ryan EVAR!

He stays that yellow for the rest of the panels too. >.>;;

Lois Lane looks like she just came out of a Russ Meyer movie and then when she turns around she looks like a linebacker in Lois Lane's clothes.

=_=;;

*sighs*

RLY HORRIBLE ART JUST ADDS TO MY LACK OF ENJOYMENT OF THIS SERIES!!!!

>:|

It's getting hard enuf for me to even tell who's who. :\ It took me a second to realize that was Jason Todd when I realized Jason wasn't in the panel. XD

And.. Ryan...

UGH

:(

Holly is just a mess too. :\ Does the artist even KNOW who Holly Robinson is?

The plot is still stupid. >:| The only thing I kinda enjoy is Piper and Trickster cuz being on the run is fun and they seem to actually be sorta in character? :o

Or maybe it's just that I dunno that much about them. >.>;;

So Harley immediately quit the Secret Six right after joining them? o_O;;; That sounds like a lame excuse to justify her appearance here. >.>

So... the Goddess Athena came back!? And she's started a health spa for women?

Umm.... shelters for abused women... are more than just a spa for them!!! What about counselling? What about professionals to help you?

This issue seems to imply that all women rly need to get away from their abusive lives is to get pampered in a spa and all will be good! Like.. abuse is just like being overworked, and once you relax in a hot tub, everything goes away and you're fine!

>.>;;;

Holly was in the hot tub last issue when Harley approached her. Now she's back in the clothes she came in. >.> Shouldn't she be in a robe like Harley? o_O

Tho I guess she WOULD need pants to hide those stilts she's clearly wearing. XD

Lois is being quite annoying and vapid in Countdown. :( So far all she's done is bug Jimmy and ask him about his dreams and mock his ideas. :\ She's not actually doing any REPORTING or WORK. In fact while Clark is in Washington fighting Amazons, she's just sitting around apparently with nothing to do. >.>;; Isn't she going to cover the war? I know Clark is doing that, but she KNOWS he wouldn't rly be doing that since he's FIGHTING!

Or does he take breaks to write his story and submit it to the Planet? XD

I guess they DID have time to have a funeral for the Flash during a WAR. >.>

Mary Marvel is just ... *sighs*. It's like everybody's lost the art of subtley. There's no "slow decent into ebil" or nething. She's just crazy and angry and excessively violent now! I always thought that Black Adam's powers weren't EVIL tho. Like... HE was evil, not his powers. That's why the wizard Shazam gave new powers to a boy b/c a boy was more innocent and less likely to be corrupted like an adult.

But now Mary is all OMGEBIL!

Black Adam was good for a while, it's just his PERSONALITY, that causes problems. So how is Mary suddenly ebil now? >:|

*shakes head sadly*

There's also an annoying upskirt scene too but I didn't want to scan it XD

So.. Batman is watching the whole thing and is okay with Mary launching Clayface into SPACE!? Doesn't he still have to breathe? o_O;;

Mary said he'll just come back down eventually. Assuming she didn't knock him into a stable orbit or OUT of Earth's orbit.. yus.. but wouldn't he burn up in the atmosphere!? O_O;;

And... why do we care about Karate Kid? =_=;;

Again, if you're not reading JLA, then you suck, b/c you have to or you wouldn't know why Karate Kid was going back with the other Legion to the 31st century.

For that matter WHEN does this take place!?

Is Batman with the JLA and the Legion during the Lightning Saga, or is he in Gotham City watching Mary Marvel OR IS HE FIGHTING THE AMAZONS AND TRYING TO HELP NEMESIS!?

=_=;;

DC's made this all about continuity and how everything ties in together.

So how DOES everything tie in together!?

*cries*

This is very frustrating >.>

Blah. >:|

If the art is going to stay the same and the story is just going into this direction, then this issue of Countdown could be my last. :\

Angelwings Rating: 1.5 Ryan Monguls out of 5 Hank Todds
Recommendation: DIE COUNTDOWN DIE!!!! >:O

Week of July 11, 2007 Super Short Reviews

Hi :D

It's comic day again which means... it's comic day again >.>

XD

Ignore me.. I'm weird.

I have good news and bad news >.>

The good news is I finally found a copy of American Virgin #12! :D

The bad news is that I can't find a copy of the new Atom. ;-;

It's always SOMETHING. =_=;;;

I'm still going to the cave. >.>;; They're very nice to me actually :D Much nicer than the other place which is less personal...

Too bad it's still a cave tho. :( It's all dark and dank and scary and narrow and scary. :( But it IS cheaper and more.. personal? :o

The other place is so bright and shiny tho with TV monitors! :D And manga everywhere! XD

Kk... so this is what I got :D

American Virgin - #12
Countdown - #42
Green Arrow: Year One - #1 (of 4)
Green Lantern - #21
JLA Classified - #40
Justice Society of America - #7
Superman - #664

^__^

I haven't read American Virgin yet tho. :\ I will however! And then reviews of American Virgin will start up once more! :3

Neways, so here are the Super Short Reviews. :)

Countdown - #42 - The story is at least becoming a little more focussed. >.>;; But not all that interesting? At least they got what's happening in Gotham correct, but given that Dini writes Detective, if they DIDN'T it would be inexcusable. :( The art is ATROCIOUS however! Just.. awful! ;-; You'd think that for such a frontline series, they would have better artists. >.>;; There's not that much else to say tho. Things are happening, you have to read a billion other series to know what's going on, and what's going on isn't very interesting or fun.. or cohesive. :( 1.5/5

Green Arrow: Year One - #1 (of 4) - Not bad! :D It's a little bit of a retcon from what I thought I knew about the Green Arrow origin story, and it's a little heavy handed with the foreshadowing at times, esp with Ollie's character, but I enjoyed it for the most part :) I've always liked Green Arrow as a hero tho, and I can't wait to see how his character evolves and changes thru this story! :D 3.5/5

Green Lantern - #21 - More Sinestro Corps funs! :D I love this arc b/c it's fun and action packed and Geoff Johns at his best! :3 Maybe it's b/c of his movie background, but Johns is very suited to these "summer blockbuster" type of events with lots of fighting, excitement, twists and cool bad guy reveals (that aren't Circe! XD) :D Yay! :D Also it's got great character moments involving Hal and a few with Guy and John Stewart. :) 4.5/5

JLA Classified - #40 - The JLA is still acting very jerklicious. :( They're being all mean and stuff for no reason. :\ Also there's not a great deal of explanation as to WHY a certain character did a complete 180 either. >.>;; However it was still fun to read, and all the Batman moments were just teh smex! XD I still recommend this arc! :D 3/5

Justice Society of America - #7 - YAY NO MORE LIGHTNING SAGA!!!!!!!!!! *CHEERS* :D I'm SOOOOO glad that that's over with and I dun have to feel Meltzer's grubby paws all over my precious JSA nemore! >.> This issue was SOOOOOO good! :D I forgot how good JSA was BEFORE the Lightning Saga. >.>;; What I rly enjoyed were the moments involving Citizen Steel which were hilarious but also well written! Suddenly gaining superpowers WOULD be very difficult for ppl to adapt to! XD Also Nazis! Everybody likes beating up on Nazis. >.>;;; In fact I think they're the one group in the history of mankind that it's rly okay to completely denegrate in fiction and beat on without care or guilt or trying to see both sides. XD As Stargirl says: "Boo Nazis!" :D 5/5

Superman - #664 - SURPRISINGLY GOOD! Busiek WAS telling the truth! :D Things didn't go in the "generic" way that ppl expected it to, and the result is much funs and also logical funs! :D It does make sense that after all of Superman's history of being mind controlled or going crazy, that ppl would be rdy to stop him at a moments notice instead of just letting him get mind controlled again. :3 The whole story is rly good and well written, and I enjoyed it muchly! :) 5/5

:3

So that's it :D I'll put up the super long reviews later! XD

Oh! I have SO MANY MEMES TO CATCH UP ON!

The problem is I forget often who's memed me, and I dun read every blog all the time so sometimes it's a huge shock when I find out I've been memed. >.>;;;

So I need to do that.

Um... neways, that's it! :D

Take cares! :)

Checkmate - #15 Review

Checkmate - #15

Synopsis: Fire attacks Josephine Tautin for abandoning Sasha, Nightwing and Captain Boomerang. XD Tautin defends herself by saying her duty is to follow Sasha's orders and to complete the mission.

Meanwhile, the heroes are still being chased by the Chinese and Immortal Man in Darkness.

In a laboratory, Egg-Fu prepares to torture and examine Boomer and Sasha while August General supervises. August General doesn't want to watch and leaves.

Nightwing sits in his cell listening to the screams of his friends. o_o

Back at Checkmate, Mr. Terrific talks to the other leaders of Checkmate and the ambassador from China. The ambassador claims that China doesn't care about Oolong Island and sees it as an embaressment to their country. He hints that if an outside force wants to do something about the situation, China would not object, but reinforces his position that they are not involved with the situation in Oolong. :o

Mr. Terrific wants to go in and rescue Nightwing, Sasha and Boomer, but Amanda Waller doesn't. However, Mr. Terrific reveals that he knows about Task Force X. :o

Immortal Man in Darkness contacts the Pequod, telling the heroes that his orders are now to escort them to Oolong Island and provide cover fire for them to rescue their friends. :)

Egg-Fu does ebil things to Sasha and Boomer, including forcing Boomer to go at super speed, hurting him. :(

The heroes land on the island and fight things.

The guards throw Boomer back into Nightwing's cell and leave. >.>

Mr. Terrific is in a jet going someplace unknown and talks to Jessica Midnight at Checkmate about the situation there and then tells her to patch him into Tommy Jagger's comms without Amanda finding out.

Egg-Fu marvels at the technology in Sasha's body as he takes her body parts apart! :(

The heroes find the tracker signals of Nightwing and Boomer but find them attached to weird creatures as they've been taken some place else!

Mr. Terrific talks to somebody about the situation and it turns out to be Batman! :D

Review: Da na na na na na na na na na na BATMAN!!!

XDD

He's like in... every book right now!

It doesn't look very good on the Outsiders or Checkmate, both as organizations AND as DC comic series, that they need a guest appearance by Batman to bail them out tho. :(

I never understood why it's so hard for ppl to understand that sometimes it's better to "run away and live to fight another day" tho.. esp ppl who join a military outfit like Checkmate. :\ Sometimes you have to leave ppl behind b/c everybody else needs to survive, and sometimes escaping with information is more valuable than fighting to your death. :( It's just regrouping... >.>;;

I didn't like that Fire accused Tautin of not being loyal! Fire of all ppl has had enuf experience in these groups to know that you have to follow orders and that you need to pull back to regroup sometimes!

Sasha being taken apart was gross. :( I also dunno why August General would tolerate this? It's just weird :( But I dunno nething about him. He's apparently joining Checkmate next issue tho :O Would the other heroes be ok with this? I hope at least we find out more about him! He seems kinda neat. Like an anti-Ironman. :o Or maybe just Ironman now that he's ebil! XD

Even tho Boomer is being tortured too, Sasha being ripped apart and having her various body parts taken away is rly rly cruel and yucky. :( But since she's half machine and she can grow back her limbs (apparently), there's at least a reason that it's her and not Boomer being this viciously dissected. :\

What's wrong with Nightwing!? He's just sitting there while his friends are just being tortured!? In the next issue it's shown that he could escape at any time but he's just "waiting for the right time". You mean when you're locked alone in your cell is NOT the right time?

He didn't attack the guards when they threw Captain Boomerang in his cell and even BATMAN would escape and scout the place out and maybe return back to his cell if he thought it'd be better that way. But in situations where Batman's been captured (which doesn't seem to happen that much neways), he usually escapes to help his friends if he knows they're in trouble!

So it's rly stupid that Nightwing would just sit there feeling bad while he has the ABILITY to escape and save ppl that he knows are being TORTURED!!!

It's a rly shoddy facility btw if Nightwing can hear the screams from his cell >.>;; Either the cell is right next to the lab or the walls are made of paper. >.>;;

Why didn't Checkmate anticipate that the tracking bands that the Outsiders use would be taken off them and put elsewhere? o_O;; Do they think that the Chinese wouldn't search their prisoners or something? :o

I DID rly like the scene involving the Chinese ambassador tho! Esp with the "rotating camera". It was a bit confusing b/c King Farraday and the Chinese ambassador both look very similar so it was hard to keep track of who was who, but it was neat that each panel "rotated" among the characters and the view was always from a different angle. :) Tho I'm sure it works better on TV, it was neat to see it in a comic book. :)

My sister HATES Egg-Fu btw b/c she considers him a racist characiture (esp being yellow XD). Considering his roots, I can't rly blame her. XD At least he doesn't have that stupid moustache nemore! But I dun rly like the character either. :(

It makes me wonder if racist charicatures, esp villainous ones, can be rehabilated for use in modern times, or if they should be best left in the past, even if you take the racism out. >.>;;

NEWAYS :D

In general, I think this was a pretty good issue all things considered, even tho I can't wait for the Outsiders to go away so Checkmate can go back to it's pure Checkmatey goodness. :D But at least there's still SOME political intrigue going on and Batman shows up! Which altho kinda annoying that he always shows up when they need a Deus Ex Machina, I still fangirl over Batman appearances! XD

YAY!!! :D

Angelwings Rating: 3.5 Batmen out of 5 ebil Egg-Fus
Recommendation: Worth getting for ppl alrdy reading the arc :)
