Wonder Woman - #8 Review

Wonder Woman - #8

Synopsis: On Themyscira, Circe performs a spell that brings life to the skeletal remains of Hippolyta :o

Hippolyta rises and asks where Diana is. :o

We see that Diana is being held by the government.

Circe shows Hippolyta (who appears to be on drugs, or hadn't gotten enuf sleep or something) that Diana is being held captive. And Hippolyta says that enemies must be crushed.

At a bar in Washington, Nemesis can't get into contact with Diana, and then is called by Sarge Steel, and leaves.

He's told that Diana has been reassigned and the Wonder Woman assignment has been closed, with Wonder Woman having been taken into custody by the defense department. o_o

Nemesis is told he's being reassigned too. He gets angry and leaves.

Circe shows up in Wonder Woman's cell and talks to her about how similar they are and how humanity fears them both. She says they both fight for things they love. Diana says that Circe doesn't care about right and wrong and Circe says that right and wrong and law are made up and change. She points out bad laws in the past (slavery, etc). :o And then she says that murder and love are the only things that make ppl human. She leaves as Wonder Woman protests.

Sarge Steel runs around defense headquarters beating people up and hiding them o_o

He rescues Wonder Woman and reveals himself to be Nemesis >.>;;;

Guards show up and Wonder Woman knocks him out O_O;;;

She beats up the guards and takes Nemesis away.

In Washington, the Amazons attack. XD

Sarge talks with Batman. And Circe appears behind him. Sarge says he's delivering the heroes to her.

Wonder Woman and Nemesis walk thru the sewers where Nemesis complains about how she knocked out his tooth. They have annoying and out of character romantic tension. >:O

Explosions rock the sewers and they fly off and see Hippolyta alive. >.<;;;

Review: >.>;;;

This was actually worse than the actual issue b/c we didn't learn nething new AND the characterization continues to be wrong. >:|

You'd think if Wonder Woman got captured, the JLA would do something about this. Imagine if Superman got captured by the government!?

Wonder Woman continues to be written wrong. She's impulsive. She's silly. She makes rash and stupid decisions. And Nemesis seems to be the clear headed one >:| Diana being upset about having her costume ripped is STUPID. Modesty, whatever >.>;; I've seen Wonder Woman in much worse condition and not care! She's a warrior born. She'd fight naked if necessary. >:|

If modesty was so important to her, she'd wear another costume wouldn't she? XD

I also hate the whole "hello" "hi" thing when Wonder Woman and Nemesis fell on each other. Again, this isn't some new character who showed up. This is WONDER WOMAN. >:|

Has she ever done this with Batman? Or Superman? She works with men ALL THE TIME, and doesn't act like a silly girl who's never met one before.

The romantic tension is forced :( And I'm also tired of how a man and woman can't work together without the writer putting them into romantic situations and having them fall in love. :\

Srsly!

Why can't ppl just work together!?

Hitting Nemesis was stupid. She said it was to protect him b/c she didn't want ppl to think he was helping her. Which would have made sense had she LEFT him there. Since they escaped together, it makes hitting him pointless. >:| Also hitting him HARD and knocking a tooth out is unacceptable for Wonder Woman who can do that a lot better. >:|

Again, it's trying to set up an implausible situation (romantic tension) by making Wonder Woman do things she wouldn't otherwise do.

This isn't the Wonder Woman I know >:|

And is Themyscira just.. back now? o_O

Everyman is clearly Sarge Steel >.>;; He's working for Circe (as shown in Manhunter) and he can turn into other ppl. :\

If Circe had been planning this for a long time tho and had a person with the ability to formshift, having the Amazons attack Washington to bring the heroes is not actually a very good plan :\ She could have spent a year setting things up and manipulating the heroes more and taking out the key heroes like Batman and Superman o_o;;;

Circe's talk with Diana was okay... As usual, she has a point, but doesn't make it very well. :o Also Diana would NOT act like a stupid naive girl when arguing. She knows FULL well what she's fighting for. At least, the REAL Diana would! >:| She'd say that it's not enuf just to force changes. In order to make lasting change, you have to win the people and inspire them. And that's why you have to do the right thing, not according to the law, but according to your heart. You can't kill b/c it's wrong, and it sets a bad example. >:|

Instead she's just like "no no.. we must follow the law!" Which opens her up to Circe pointing out that the law isn't always right. >.>;;

*flails*

I'm rly upset about how Wonder Woman is being portrayed. She has SO MUCH EXPERIENCE, and NONE of it shows thru with the way she's being written! She's been thru SO MUCH, and none of that shows thru at all! Instead it's like... she's just stupid >:|

*flails more*

Blah. >:\

I think I'm just gonna pick up the Amazons Attack main and ignore WW until Gail starts :)

Angelwings Rating: 1.5 out of 5 stupid Wonder Women
Recommendation: This isn't even worth it to learn more about Amazons Attack b/c we learn nothing we didn't alrdy know! Instead we just get more crappy characterization of Wonder Woman :( Not recommended :(

Small update :O

Hi! :O

In an unusual move, I got Wonder Woman #8 today :O

I got it mainly cuz IGN said it was rly good and told more about Amazons Attack than the actual issue :o

However, I didn't find it very good :(

Here's my super short review of it :D

Wonder Woman - #8 - IGN lies. >.<;;; Or doesn't understand Wonder Woman. :o Jodi Piccoult still writes her as just some silly girl who reacts to things purely emotionally :\ The "romantic tension" between her and Nemesis is completely forced and I hate how Wonder Woman is portrayed as just some girl in a Hugh Grant movie :( *sighs* Nothing is actually revealed about Amazons Attack that we didn't know alrdy. >.>;; Plus, Themyscera is just back for no reason >.> All in all this book was more of the same mischaracterization of Wonder Woman and the Amazons that we've seen lately :( 1.5/5

:(

*sighs*

What bothers me is that Wonder Woman pre-IC wasn't broken! Rucka was writing her well and I liked her portrayal :O But now she IS broken and they need Gail to fix her :\ But they wouldn't need to fix her if they didn't break her in the first place! >:O

*flails*

Oh... and Sarge Steel is Everyman. >.>;; At least, I'm fairly certain he is XD Since in Manhunter, Everyman is shown to be working with Circe.

>.>;;

I hope Darkseid shows himself soon XD

Blue Beetle - #14 Review

Blue Beetle - #14

Synopsis: Jaime is thinking about the Reach while worrying about his midterms when Guy Gardner shows up :O

Jaime immediately attacks him since he and Guy fought in the first issue :O

However, he's unable to hurt Guy and he panics and flies back home where his family and friends are having a BBQ :O

Jaime shows up but knocks over the BBQ trying to warn ppl! :O His mom introduces Guy Gardner and says that he was looking for Jaime.

Jaime shoots Guy again and prepares to attack him but his mom breaks it up and lectures him XD

Guy says that he fought Beetle the first time cuz he was still angry about the death of Ted Kord (the previous Beetle) but that he's not here to fight him now. He says that he talked to the Guardians of the Universe and found out more about the Reach. :o

It turns out that 40 or 50 thousand years ago, the Guardians fought the Reach to a draw and they signed a treaty that stipulated that the Reach could stay around and sell stuff, but that they couldn't take over any more worlds :O

They stop at a bar on the way to Antarctica where Guy initiates a bar fight XD

After the fight (which we never see XD), they arrive at Antarctica and Jaime can see a giant Reach outpost but nobody else can :(

Suddenly they're attacked by robo attack Penguins which spray them with some gunk! :O

After they fight them off, the Ultra Humanite attacks them! He explains that the Reach is hiring villains to help them. :o

The Ultra Humanite however blinds Guy and Jaime by screwing up their nervous systems using his telepathy in conjunction with the gunk :O

He increases his attack and causes them paralyzing pain! :O

However, Jaime blasts him since the Beetle is unaffected and can still fight :O He explains to the Humanite that if he dies, nothing will control or hold back the scarab nemore and then it'd be free to kill Humanite like it wants to :O

This scares the Ultra Humanite and disrupts his concentration long enuf for Guy Gardner to break free from his telepathy and defeat him :D

A Reach alien then shows up and pretends to be friendly and peaceful again :O He threatens Jaime with more supervillains in a subtle way, and leaves. Since Jaime can't prove that the Reach are involved or even have a base (since nobody can see it), he's unable to do nething :(

Guy tells Jaime that they have to go home and prepare for a long battle.

At home, Guy gives Jaime a book on strategy that Ted gave him as a gift, as well as a list of other intellectual books that Ted wanted him to read. :o

Jaime complains about being overpowered by the aliens and all their technology and ships but Guy explains that Ted Kord had no powers and he was always overpowered by more powerful enemies, but he defeated them by being smarter than them and using his brain :D

He tells Jaime that he's gotta stop thinking like some scared kid with a suit, and start thikning like the Blue Beetle :D

Review: :D

Yay Guy Gardner! :D

This is the type of portrayal that Guy rarely gets, where he's not just a jerk, but he's a hero who just has rude and jerky tendencies XD It's kinda like how Batman isn't just a dark, angry person XD

A lot of writers seem to forget that these heroes are multi dimensional, and that even if they hide it, they're all good, caring ppl inside :D

This is more of the evolution of Jaime as a hero, where he's now learning that not all battles are won immediately and that just having super powers isn't enuf to win every battle :D

Also... yay for mentioning Ted Kord! :D

It's nice how Ted is being remembered so fondly now and stuffs :D

The Ultra Humanite wasn't that interesting tho... :\ I only rly know him from the Justice League animated series :o

However, it's interesting that the Reach are using super villains to counter the number of super heroes on Earth :O

Next episode features Superman! :D Which should be another fun team up! :D

I hope tho that this isn't an excuse for Jaime to team up with every single hero in the DCU and fight other hero's villains :\ Mainly cuz I worry that DC is scared about the (supposedly) slipping sales of the book and will just keep sticking Jaime with various name heroes against various name villains :(

That hurts Jaime as a hero, and also the book in general, since what I rly liked about the stories so far is how self contained they are, and how Jaime has his own friends and family and villains to fight :D

It would be bad if they make it seem like he can't star in his own book and needs a constant influx of other characters :(

I was talking about this with my friend JD (Average Comic Nerd) recently about the Blue Beetle and how I think that DC should make a Beetle tv show :D Just cuz... it's PERFECT for an animated series xD

It's the type of concept that animated shows seem to love. :o It stars a teenager who gets powers from an alien suit and has a male and female friend who supports him, and the whole thing takes place in it's own enclosed setting (since in theory, he doesn't need to be part of the rest of the DCU to be interesting XD)

Also, the rights to the Blue Beetle being in radio/tv, expired in 2006 (which is why he was never in the Justice League animated series) which is perfect too :D

I just think it'd be rly fun if done right, and can appeal to all ages :) They could make it like the 90s Spiderman series where he often has an internal monologue going :D

And like Spiderman, he can also make all sorts of fun witty comments XD

*pokes DC*

Do it. >:O

DOOOOO ITTTTTTTTTTT

XD

Oh! XD And the bar fight was hilarious cuz we never saw it happen XD The person just was about to hit Guy with a chair and then the next page they're in Antarctica with the narration box: "Antarctica, Later. After the really cool bar fight."

XDDDD

That's cute :D

And also nice, b/c it wastes pages to show a meaningless bar fight XD

NEWAYS :D

Other than the beginning, which is a little annoying b/c even if Jaime WAS paranoid about Guy, he wouldn't just immediately attack him. >:| It's good that his mom told him off tho! XD Go mom! :3

Oh, and Jaime said that the other heroes didn't believe him about the Reach being evil (he apparently talked to Oracle). But that's silly :\ Not even Batman? :o And now that Guy can confirm what happened, shouldn't the other heroes be concerned? :O

According to an issue of the Green Lantern last year, the rings automatically record everything like a camera in a police cruiser :O Shouldn't this provide proof to the heroes that they DID fight the Ultra Humanite and that the Humanite DID tell them that the Reach hired him? :O

>.>

I just hope that the other heroes believe Jaime rather than ... not believing him XD

Neways.. next is Superman! :D

Angelwings Rating: 4 Guy Gardners out of 5 Ultra Humanites
Recommendation: Another good issue :D And another good reason to start reading Blue Beetle if you aren't alrdy! XD

52 - #51 Review

52 - #51

Synopsis: In California, Animal Man's wife is taken home by another man who says he understands how she feels b/c his wife left him too. She points out that his wife left him b/c he was cheating on her with 3 different women o_O;; She says she's over the grief but not over her husband :D

She goes home and suddenly Animal Man appears in a flash of light! :D She and his children are so happy to see him as he shines on the lawn b/c he's still using the Sun Eater powers :D

Above, voices are heard planning an attack in the name of Lady Styx. o_o

At the Superman/Superboy memorial, hundreds of heroes gather in the aftermath of World War III. Wonder Woman as Diana Prince is also in attendance.

Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent meet and discuss Wonder Woman's new identity.

Ravager talks to Robin and they bicker a bit. Robin leaves and Kid Devil appears behind Ravager, asking to be introduced to Robin o_O

Jimmy Olson talks to Robin about his new costume colours. Robin spies Wonder Girl and tries to talk to her but she flies off crying :(

On Rann, Adam Strange wakes up in the care of 2 Green Lanterns (including John Stewart) and his father-in-law, Sardath. Apparently Rann is under attack by fire creatures and they need Adam Strange to protect them once more. He says that it's easy to beat them, just cut off their oxygen XD

He's told by John Stewart that Starfire flew off after powering up to return Animal Man's jacket to his family :O

He's also informed that the Emerald Eye of Akron is a prototype of the Green Lantern rings and that it could be a devestating weapon in the wrong hands :(

Lobo returns to the dolphin planet where he brings the Emerald Eye to the fish god and asks to be released from his pacifist vows. He asks why the eye is so important and the god tells him that according to prophecy, it's the only weapon that can kill him :O

Lobo then fires the eye :(

Back on Earth, there's a small gathering to celebrate the return of Animal Man in his home when aliens show up at the door to attack but they're zapped by Starfire who returns Animal Man's jacket before fainting :(

In the Rocky Mountains, Skeets appears in Dr. Morrow's lab. He says that Red Tornado caught a glimpse of the "garden" and made a map and he wants that map :O

Booster and Rip Hunter show up to stop him and Booster says that he knows Skeets' data got corrupted. But Skeets says that the real Skeets is dead, and that he ate him from within to make a cocoon. :O He reveals himself to be Mr. Mind! The Caterpillar creature that escaped from Dr. Sivana's laboratory at the beginning of 52 :O

Rip grabs Red Tornado's head and says that it's too late again, and tells Booster to grab what's left of Skeets. :O They head back into the Time Sphere and escape. Booster asks where they're going and Rip says back to where it all started :O

Review: O_O;;;

Crazy :O

The ending ALMOST made up for the lack of nething interesting happening in this issue. But it didn't quite :(

I know that we're winding down, but we still dunno what happened to Renee and Batwoman, and too little was devoted to Booster Gold. :( Also, you'd think there'd be more about the aftermath of World War III :\

Instead, we get stuff just to explain more of OYL (Titans, Wonder Woman, etc). Which is again... something they should have done EARLIER in 52, but seemed to have forgotten to do XD

I knew Mr. Mind would show up at some point :D I thought he was Sobek, but I was wrong :(

Poor Skeets tho :( At least they'll fix him up :D

I hope :O

So Lobo killed the Fish God? :( Poor Fish God :(

And poor Fishy!

I liked him :(

I dun have that much to say about this issue rly, cuz not a lot rly happened. :\

I can't wait for the double sized last issue tho b/c hopefully (HOPEFULLY) we'll finally find out all the sekrits of 52 and what Booster Gold and Rip Hunter are up to :D

I was just hoping that we'd have found that out earlier and that these last few issues will be tying stuff up. :(

Mr. Mind is gross :(

Ick Ick Ick...

Angelwings Rating: 2.5 out of 5 icky bug creatures
Recommendation: You either are reading 52 or you aren't XD So if you are, you should get this issue too :D But if you're aren't, there's nothing fantabulous about this issue that you should get it :\

Amazons Attack - #1 (of 6)

Amazons Attack - #1 (of 6)

Synopsis: In Washington, DC, a father and son are looking at the Lincoln Memorial when there's an explosion :O Suddenly, thousands of Amazons and beasts and weaponry appear :O

One of the Amazon's kills the father and then as the kid is crying, she kills him too :(

Another Amazon asks the first one who Lincoln was, and she says that he was just another man and that the city is filled with them, but not for long :O

At the White House, the President is being briefed when the Amazon's burst in and try to capture him, but Black Lightning defeats them :O

In the Smithsonian, Queen Hippolyta asks Circe where her daughter is. Circe tells her that finding her takes time and that her daughter was captured by men.

Hippolyta calls for her troops to tear the city to shreds. O_O

A guard talks to Circe and mentions her daughter. This enrages Circe and she kills her :O

Hippolyta talks as the White House explodes behind her o_o She chops of the head of the Lincoln statue and then they attack >.>

Jets fly above readying to bomb them. o_o

Sergeant Steel talks to Batman at D.O.M.A. (Department of Metahuman Affairs) headquarters and Batman says that the heroes and esp Superman are on their way. However, he wants Sarge to find Wonder Woman.

After the conversation, Sergeant Steel goes to a private area where he pushes a sekrit button which opens a wall and reveals the real Steel who is tied up and gagged. He tells him that he'll be blamed for everything happening outside.

Outside, Wonder Woman approaches Hippolyta, shocked that she's alive. >.>;;

Review: >.>;; Was this "event" rly necessary!? :O

Also, for a giant event, there was no build up at all. They just appeared and started to kill ppl :(

Also, if these ARE the Amazons, then there's no going back after they just slaughtered a whole bunch of innocent civilians in cold blood :( There's no way we can sympathize with them, or have the ending not be "everybody beats them up and sends them back" :(

And is that all the Amazons are now? Just another group of enemies for the heroes to use as punching bags so DC can sell more splash pages of ppl getting ripped in half, and stuff? :\

WHAT IS IT WITH ALL THE BLOODY MURDER SCENES LATELY!?

I thought Infinite Crisis was supposed to be DC addressing the darkness in their world. :( It seems like post IC, there's MORE darkness ;-;

This is Circe's FOURTH "big reveal" scene in the past year. >:|

In the first Wonder Woman arc she was revealed as the villain. And then in the second arc, she was revealed as the villain. And then in Manhunter just last week, she was revealed as the villain.

And she's revealed as the villain again here. >.<;;

Does DC realize that Wonder Woman has OTHER villains!? >:O

Right now I have 2 theories. :\ One is the multiverse theory which thanks to 52, might end up being the explanation for everything :( These are not OUR Amazons (I thought they faded away for a thousand years during IC), and that's not OUR Hippolyta. :|

The second theory is that this is the work of Darkseid (who we all know is going to make a big comeback this year in Countdown). :O I think it's him b/c of the big BOOM before they suddenly appeared which seems to suggest a boomtube :D

I HOPE that's the case b/c a) Darkseid is a lot more interesting as a universe-threatening villain than Circe and b) it means that these aren't the Amazons at all :D

Darkseid also likes to use female warriors, so doing something like this would be right for him. *nods*

It would be like him to bring back Hippolyta as a villain neways >:|

I just HOPE that that's the case and this isn't just DC bringing in the Amazons to be punching bags and to tell a rly stupid "feminism is bad" story :(

I find it odd that the Amazons show up and kill ppl and stand around DC making speeches and Batman's like "oh we're on our way".

>:|

In 52, we saw how fast all of the Earth's heroes pounced on Black Adam every chance they got. And here they're just "on their way!?"

How come the world isn't more prepared for this kind of attack after World War III? :\

I just dun see this event as being very interesting. :( It seems like just an event to have an event.

I'll give it a chance, but the next few issues better do more than just show more killing and fighting :(

Angelwings Rating: 1.5 out of 5 mean Amazons
Recommendation: This is definitely no Infinite Crisis. >:| If you dun want to spend money on this series and it's various tie-ins, I wouldn't blame you >.>;;

Week of April 24 Super Short Reviews :3

Hi :)

Today was a busy week for comics :O At least for comics that I read XD

There were some good ones, but also many not so good ones :(

Here's what I got :D

52 - #51
Action Comics - #848
Amazons Attack - #1 (of 6)
Blue Beetle - #14
Catwoman - #66
Justice - #11 (of 12)
Justice Society of America - #5
Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes - #29

Yus, so there they are XD

I dun have much to say so onto the Super Short Reviews :D

52 - #51 - I was surprisingly dissapointed with this issue, mainly b/c this is the 2nd to last issue and it seems like a lot is still unresolved and this issue spent most of it, not resolving nething :( It seems like that 52 hasn't went off the way DC planned for it to, and they're using Countdown (and the popularity of a weekly series) as an "out" to continue the story. :O Still, these last few issues are supposed to be the big payoffs of spending 2.50 a week, and it's sad when we're not getting those payoffs :( 2.5/5

Action Comics - #848 - Umm... is Donner and Johns still writing this series? :\ It seems like it takes months and months just to get another issue of the Superman vs Zod storyline :( We had 1 filler last month and now we're having a filler ARC. The arc actually is interesting :D Kinda... Ppl have always wondered about how much Superman's wholesome American upbringing might have included Christianity, and this issue talks about that and also about what happens if a hero is driven by purely religious ideals :O Which is interesting... and I think they do a fairly good job about it without being preachy or political :D Still... WHERE IS MY ZODDY!!!??? >:O I miss him :( 3/5

Amazons Attack - #1 (of 6) - When did DC become Marvel? :O This had the feeling of a very Marvel-esque event. There's no build up. There's no real characterization and there's tons of violence just to show us "OMG VIOLENCE!" :\ This feels like an unnecessary event. Like an event just to have an event :( And... how many times can a villain show up as the "big reveal" in a year? >:| I was wary about this storyline when I heard about it, and this issue hasn't quelled my fears :( 1.5/5

Blue Beetle - #14 - It starts off a bit slow, and Jaime is uncharacteristically emotional, but it picks up a lot :D The characterization of Guy Gardner is teh awesome tho :D I rly like how he's portrayed, b/c like many of the more "negative" characters in the DCU, a lot of writers focus too much on the negative (like with Batman), but here Rogers captures him perfectly :D The ending is also rly sweet :) 4/5

Cat Woman - #66 - The issue was actually not that bad until the death of a character at the end which was unnecessary and wayyyy too convenient :\ It had a very Deus Ex Machina feel to it :( Otherwise, the story was okay but not spectacular :o However, b/c it involved Holly as the hero rather than Selina it was more interesting than it would have been just b/c it's more fun to watch young, inexperienced heroes involved in a "standard" storyline than somebody like Batman XD 2.5/5

Justice - #11 (of 12) - >:| I rly wish Justice wasn't so confusing and hard to read :\ It makes my brain hurt just to figure out who's doing what to whom and who's saying the dialogue :| There are some clever parts tho, which I enjoyed :) However, there's also a lot of like... STUFF... that happens. XD And a lot of it seems just there for Alex Ross to draw it XD There also no longer seems to be a theme to the story... all the original philosophical undertones are gone, and now it's just... craziness... >.>;;; 3/5

Justice Society of America - #5 - Honestly, I rly dun like Meltzer's JLA but I rly like John's JSA, so I would rather see more of the JSA than the JLA. >.> Still the story is interesting :) I can't wait until the JSA get back to their own stories tho :) 3/5

Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes - #29 - I thought Waid and Kitson were leaving the book at #30 :( Neither of them are creditted for this issue, and it shows as the art varies a lot from okay to >.>;;; A lot of the time the characters look 40 instead of teenagers >:| The dialogue isn't as sharp as it was under Waid, and a lot of the "fun" of the book seems to be sucked out of it as a result :( I DID however like the explanation as to why the Dominators want to invade Earth XD It ties into 52, and explains a lot :O I'm rly dissapointed by how SUpergirl seems to be completely pushed aside now tho :( In fact, none of the Legionnaires get any characterization in this book rly :( 3/5

:|

I hope it's not b/c I'm in a bad mood and kinda sick today that I'm giving lowish marks :(

It's just that except for Blue Beetle, nothing rly grabbed me today and most of it was just... yah.. okay >.>;;

I hope Waid and Kitson come back for Legion of Superheroes #30 tho :(

Neways.. that's all.. :\ I'll be back with the longer reviews soon hopefully! :D

The Brave and the Bold - #3 Review

The Brave and the Bold - #3

Synopsis: Blue Beetle and Batman are trapped in an icestorm in El Paso caused by the alien and his weapon! :O Beetle manages to create an explosive blast that frees them :)

Batman explains that the weapon is the Haruspex and it alters the laws of probability to increase the chances of a kill. The alien didn't count on Blue Beetle which is why Batman managed to survive, b/c the weapon didn't take into account Blue Beetle as a variable :3

They try to track down the weapon but Beetle is unable to find it. He panics at his failure and fears that Batman will kill him but Batman calms him down :)

Batman finds a weapons dealer and does his best Frank Miller Batman impression until Blue Beetle hears him say that the weapon is like "magic" and then he realizes that La Dama might be involved :D He tells Batman and they leave XD

In space, Supergirl is trying to find her way to Rann but ppl are too mad at her for costing them their money (since they all bet against her in the last issue) that they refuse to talk to her. She finally manages to get help by paying ppl off with diamonds (which she made from putting pressure on coal with her powers). They direct her to Lobo whom she rescues from a firing squad.

Batman and Beetle spy on La Dama who is negotiating with the alien for the Haruspex.

Then Cal Ripkin Jr. shows up and fights the Penguin with Batman O_O;;

Oh wait... that's that annoying comic-advertisement insert! XDDD

>:O

I rly hate those things!

Things go haywire inside the mansion and the LORD OF TIME shows up XD He brings with him the Fatal Five!

Batman and Beetle arrive and they battle the Fatal Five!

La Dama has a chance to kill Batman with the Haruspex but doesn't b/c she wouldn't be able to keep a low profile after killing one of the top superheroes in the world :O

Instead, she turns the Haruspex on the villains! The LORD OF TIME automatically warps away after being beaten up by Batman. Tharok (the Cyborg villain) deduces that he may be back for the weapon and tries to get it! Batman intercepts him as the Haruspex fires!

Blue Beetle reacts in shock as Batman and Tharok have been merged into a single being!!!! :O

Review: O_O;;;

Crazy! :O

Also hilarious! :D

This issue had some great lines from everybody involved :D

Including Supergirl talking to aliens like a stereotypical "American" might talk to foreigners:

Supergirl: Raan. RAAAAAAAAANNNN. I have to get there? But I don't know which direction? Okay, let's try this. I'm Supergirl. SUUUUUUUPE--

Alien: I speak interlac you nimrod. I'm just ignoring you. We're all aware of who you are.

XDDD

Or how Jaime freaks out talking to Batman XD

Blue Beetle: My armor should be able to spot this whatchamatrix's energy sig. But tracking's all kablooey. Proabliity-alteration factor maybe?

I'm sorry! I'm not making excuses. I swear! I know you hate excuses! I'm trying, I promise! I just--

Batman: Jaime... relax.

Blue Beetle: Ohmygod you'renotreally Batman... ohgod Isaidthatoutloud

Batman: Jaime...

Blue Beetle: WHAT? Don't kill me. It's weird seeing you be-- I don't want to say "nice" but... unterrifying kind of? I'M NOT COMPLAINING REALLY, but... *sigh* I'm so confused.

XDDD

Poor Jaime! It must be rly nerve wracking for a teenager to suddenly become a superhero and then have to team up with BATMAN :D

I think the characterization of both is spot on :D

This is something Johns pointed out in Infinite Crisis when Batman first met Jaime and which Waid is continuing here: Batman should be good with children :D

He's raised 3 of them! And that's not counting Barbara or Cass or *sighs* Stephanie >.>

But at least with the boys he SHOULD be good with dealing with them :) And he's not ALWAYS mean. He's nice too! And I'd like to think that children are his weakspot :)

I rly like how Batman is nice with Jaime and understands that he's a rookie and a teenager :3

This is also one of my favourite lines:

Batman: You have nine bones I could break in a second, Max. Three would paralyze you. Four others would NEVER heal. And the last two would...

Blue Beetle: *taps Batman on the shoulder*

Batman: ... what?

Blue Beetle (whispering loudly): I think I know where the weapon is.

Batman: Really.

Blue Beetle: It didn't hit me until you mentioned the magic part. But when you described it like that. I figured it out.

Batman: For future reference. If you KNOW the answers, it's not really detective work.

Blue Beetle: I didn't mean to take the fun out of it. Sir.

XDDDDD

The characterization is SO SPOT ON that you would think it was Dini writing Batman and Rogers writing Blue Beetle XD

THIS is what we want when we read team ups :D Not a bunch of Brad Meltzer-trying-to-be-Frank-Miller thought boxes. Not heroes trying to beat each other up.

But heroes being friendly and relaxed around each other :)

And I like that Batman's meanness is an ACT (as it should be) meant to terrorize villains, but he doesn't use it on other heroes since he doesn't need to terrorize them :)

THIS is the Batman I like to see :D

And Blue Beetle is totally Spiderman without the angst XD

Blue Beetle: That would be me! This way, Superman and Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, who are all right behind me, so you should all just give up! Yeah. You heard me! Titans Together! Or whatever... I'm a terrible liar.

XDDDD

Oh Jaime :D

He's so adorable!

Everything about this book was wonderful and fun :D

I wish Mark Waid would just write every superhero in the DCU now XDDD

Angelwings Rating: 5 scared Blue Beetles out of 5 Friendly Batmen
Recommendation: If you aren't reading this series YOU SHOULD BE! >:O If you ARE reading this series you get a cookie :3

Nightwing Annual - #2 Review

Nightwing Annual - #2

Synopsis: We flash back to Infinite Crisis when Dick Grayson proposed to Barbara Gordon at the airport :)

Then we flash forward to Dick getting shot by Alex Luthor while protecting Batman :(

Wonder Woman and Dr. Midnite take him somewhere else where Barbara watches Midnite try to save him :O

Dick has nightmares involving the Joker and demons and other bad ppl trying to keep him away from Barbara.

He wakes up with her at his side and she brings him a sundae from the restaurant that they had their first "date" at back when she was Batgirl and he was Robin.

Batman was with the JL in space, and Robin and Batgirl skipped patrol duty to have lunch. However, they hear sirens and run into their car to change. Robin peaks in the mirror as Batgirl strips O_O;;;

They burst in on Crazy Quilt, who is some gimmicky robber who hypnotises ppl :O He hypnotises them and locks them in a safe together where Robin gets (apparently) his first erection evar. >.>;;;

Batman rescues them and Robin tries to hide his shame in his cape >.>;;;

In the present, Dick tries to get back into shape by doing gymnastics as Barbara watches. They talk about the past again.

As Robin, he began to fall in love with Batgirl and confesses his love to her, but she pretends to be sleeping. :O He walks away dejected, thinking that she didn't hear, but she didn't.

However, she waited too long to act and when she finally did knock at his dorm room, Starfire answers wearing only her underwear and Dick's jacket :O Barbara runs off crying and Starfire tells Dick (who's in the shower) that it was a wrong address :(

Later, when Barbara got shot and paralyzed by the Joker, Dick couldn't visit b/c he was in space with the Titans (as my sister points out they seem to be perpetually in space XD). He visits her 6 months later, and they kiss, and then they have smex.

In the morning, Dick gives her..

AN ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR HIM AND STARFIRE!!!!

>:O

OMG WHAT A JERKFACE!!!!!!!!!! >:O

Barbara is rightfully angry! >:O

But then apparently she forgives him!? :O

In the present, she screams at Dick to escape from some chains, and he does, but barely :O

Batman calls for Nightwing and tells him that he's going away to find himself and he wants him and Tim to go with him :O

Dick wants to stay with Barbara, but Barbara tells him to go with Batman, and gives him back his engagement ring, and that Dick has to do what's best for himself :O

Barbara gives Dick a note that tells him that she cares for him but that Dick has to stop doing thins for other ppl and care about himself. :O

Dick leaves Barbara and envelope with a picture of them together and a chain with the ring on it :)

He says he'll be back for her one day and she say she'll hold him to the promise. :O

Review: I would say that this was sweet, b/c it was... if... Dick.. had.. not... did.. that... to.. her... >:O

THAT WAS TOTALLY CLASSLESS!!! >:O

I dun care that Barbara initiated it! Or that she even seems to blame herself!

DICK HAS FREE WILL RIGHT!? He doesn't HAVE to smex her! And, after he did so, the proper thing to do would be to either apologize, or wait a while before giving her the notice :O

But right after is so... HORRIBLE! >:O

*SMEX* "SORRY I'M ENGAGED!!!!!!"

>:O

I'd have killed him.

I'm surprised Batman didn't kill him XD

OR SUPERMAN!

Or Diana >:O

The erection thing was... >.> strange XD Cute I guess? But also weird. And Batman was being very 60s with his "chum" :O

And Starfire is so mean, not telling Dick that it was Barbara (since she recognized her) :(

I feel so bad for Barbara :( Esp... seeing Starfire.. and stuff :( My self esteem would have just died ;-; I want her boots tho :O

She deserves way better than Dick >:|

DC seems to hate Nightwing now XD His OYL stories have been awful. He's been losing to C-list villains and now he's portrayed as a horribly insensitive person! >:O

I guess this is what happens when your fanbase doesn't let Didio kill you off XD

Me and my sister have been talking about who's been having it worse OYL in terms of portrayal: Nightwing or Wonder Woman. :O And we both have a hard time deciding :(

I think Supergirl and Nightwing are a OTP (One True Pairing XD) tho :O

They both have this sorta "popular kid" mentality going, and they're both horribly callous and uncaring, and want purely smexual relationships :O

SO THIS IS PERFECT FOR THEM!

Other than that, the story isn't that bad :) There's some sweet moments, and you can see that they rly do like each other... if you ignore that Dick is a horrible person XD

But I dun get that Barbara tells Dick to be his own person, and so he goes off with Batman b/c Batman told him to.

e_e

*sighs*

BATMAN is always going to be Dick Grayon's true one and only XD

Neways, it's not a bad story :) It's nice in places and explains why they're no longer engaged without making it overly dramatic and promises that they might be back together in the future :D However it's also 4 dollars so... it's not exactly super worth it :|

Angelwings Rating: 2.5 out of 5 jerkface Dick Graysons
Receommendation: If you like the Barbara/Dick pairing this is not a bad story :) But it's also 4 dollars US, so you may want to save your money :|

52 - #50 Review

52 - #50

Synopsis: In Egypt, Black Adam beats up the Marvel family :O

The JSA tries to track him down and finally does. He's in China :|

In China, the Great Ten try to stop him but they fail. August General in Iron refuses to allow outside help and insist that the Great Ten can stop him.

However, Adam reaches Beijing and August General is forced to call for the other heroes to help!

Every hero in the DCU rushes over the border and attacks Black Adam :O

Much fighting ensues and Atom Smasher keeps trying to get Black Adam to say that he didn't kill the civilians in Bialya. :]

Captain Marvel crashlands in the Rock of Eternity and tells Zatanna and the other magic users that the gods have refuses to take away Black Adam's powers.

Natasha Irons and Steel prepare an AI Nanite missile to infect Black Adam but Booster Gold appears, takes it and leaves, telling them that he needs it more than they do and that it wouldn't have worked on Black Adam neways :O

The heroes are being defeated by Black Adam, and the JSA say that they need help. They spot Nuklon and Infinity Inc lurking nearby, but they flee, saying that they're not going to risk their lives fighting Black Adam :O

Zatanna gets in touch with the heroes and let's them know of a plan to stop Black Adam :O They distract him long enuf for Captain Marvel to call down the lightning of Shazam and hold it, throwing it at Black Adam, changing him human :O

Black Adam tries to change back but fails. He's caught by a giant hand. When the dust clears, nobody can find him and Atom Smasher (who is conveniently around) says that Black Adam escaped in the chaos.

Captain Marvel explains that he couldn't take away Black Adam's powers but he could change the magic word, and that Black Adam will never guess it now :(

In Kahndaq, Black Adam in human form, moves about saying various words, hoping to stumble upon the new magic one :O

Dr. Morrow flies back to Earth using Dr. Sivana's robot, and goes back to his lab to restore Red Tornado. Booster Gold and Rip Hunter appear and tell him that they're out of time and they need him :O

Review: This was actually a more interesting take on World War III than the actual World War III mini-series. :O

I'm still dissapointed that World War III wasn't rly a WAR. It was just Black Adam running around killing ppl :\ It's more of a crisis than a war. :|

I rly liked how the heroes amassed on the border of China. It was very tense and you could just imagine being there and waiting, and both wanting to cross, and also not wanting to, b/c it means certain doom to fight Black Adam :O

I dun remember Black Adam being THIS strong that all the Lanterns and heroes couldn't hold him :O

I feel rly bad for him at the end :( It must be torture to have power that you can't reach b/c you dunno the magic word and spend the rest of your days muttering different words :(

Maybe it's Shazam backwards :O

It reminds me of that character in Welcome to Tranquility tho, who forgot his magic word and is now an old man looking thru dictionaries trying to find it :(

It's nice to see that Captain Marvel is gaining wisdom tho and can come up with such a clever plan :D

And poor, loyal Atom Smasher :( He believed in Black Adam to the end. So much so that he saved him and helped him escape. :O It's not shown that he saved him, but what other giant hand could that be :O And it's convenient that they said he was thrown across the Earth during the fight, but then he showed up again at the very end :o

But I feel so bad for Black Adam :( He found happiness... and then lost it... and now he's just a regular mortal who doesn't know the words to change back :(

But he still killed millions of ppl :( I rly wish Atom Smasher was right and it WASN'T him.

*sighs*

I also feel bad for the Great Ten b/c they were so useless against Black Adam, and I can understand why they wouldn't want help b/c the US heroes are ALWAYS being the heroes, and they want to prove that they're equal to them :\ But I guess this was the wrong challenge to try to do alone :(

Nuklon and the other heroes running was actually good :D I was worry they'd be cocky and brash, but this actually shows that they dun lack training, they lack heroism and confidence and caring :| And that being a hero isn't about having powers or about having training, but about having courage and compassion :)

I wonder how they got to China tho :O

Booster Gold appears to be at least partially robotic at the end :O I'm not sure, b/c it could be his suit, but it seems like he is? :O

At least we finally get to find out what happened to him! But with only 2 weeks left, it seems like... it might be rushed? :\

I dunno... I think 52 has worked out well but it seems like they dragged things on for a while and then realized that they had to wrap it up and started to rush. :O

Still, I think it's been very entertaining and definitely when it's collected in TPB (and I wish they'd just make ONE BIG COLLECTION and not 4 seperate ones), it'll be rly fun to read :D

Angelwings Rating: 4 out of 5 tricky Captain Marvels
Recommendation: A good read :D

World War III - #1-4 Review

World War III - #1-4

Synopsis: Black Adam is walking thru the remains of Bialya after having slaughtered millions of innocents :( A girl approaches him and asks why he killed all these ppl when they had nothing to do with his family's murders :o She then picks up a giant steel girder and hits him with it! :O

It turns out to be Martian Manhunter, and he tries to mind control Black Adam! However, Black Adam's mind is too powerful and he breaks free and hits J'onn with the Marvel lightning twice!

He picks J'onn up and then gives him all of his hatred and anger and memories of killing! :O J'onn freaks out and flies away! :(

All over the world ppl react in fear and panic to the impending threat of Black Adam :O

The American military tries to stop him and he crushes them and rips off Father Time's face!! (EWWWWWW >.<;;;)

He picks up an aircraft carrier and hurls at it New York City :O

Some thieves are taking advantage of the panic and are stealing money when Nightwing (Jason Todd) shows up and kills them, then takes the money. >.>

Firehawk merges with Jason Rusch to become Firestorm and they manage to intercept the carrier in time and turn it into snow which harmlessly falls on the city :o

Black Adam beats up lots and lots and lots of heroes while Deathstroke convinces Batgirl that Batman hates her >.<;;;

J'onn is in space freaking out seeing all of these events in his head. :(

Supergirl returns from the 31st century and falls thru J'onn before falling onto Earth :o

In Gotham, Harvey Dent beats up Killer Croc while Deathstroke and Batgirl watch.

J'onn watches and gets angry at humanity. :\

In Italy, Black Adam fights with the Doom Patrol. Booster Gold appears and then dissapears xD

Donna Troy becomes Wonder Woman and goes to Sydney, Australia and sees tons of destruction b/c of Black Adam :(

In Sub Diego, Aquaman bargains with the sea gods to save the ppl of the city. He uses the power from the bones of his broken hand to raise the city above water and save everybody in it. However, the price is that he becomes a squid XD

An old man finds Supergirl lying in a crater and tries to do something to her but Power Girl takes her and flies away o_O

J'onn continues to watch, thinking about human nature and the paradox of hope and despair :\

He comes back to Earth and disguises himself as the girl again. He watches as the Justice Society appears and helps and saves ppl :)

Black Adam beats up the Teen Titans and rips off Young Frankenstein's arms :( Beast Boy orders the Titans to pursue Black Adam as Raven freaks out about young Frankenstein :(

Sasha Bordeaux and King Faraday talk about how they (Checkmate) should have killed Black Adam. However, Sasha also expresses her distrust of Amanda Waller :O

In Detroit, Amanda Waller meets up with Ben Turner and talks to him about freeing Rick Flag and reforming the Suicide Squad.

Black Adam continues to battle the Teen Titans when Terra smashes him with rocks :O In anger he punches Terra thru the chest. :O Raven panics more and Beast Boy agrees that they should take care of their own first instead of going after Black Adam.

Director Bones of the D.E.O. talks to Manhunter (not Martian Manhunter) and agrees to fund her own law firm. In the meanwhile, her partner is fired to put pressure on her to admit to stealing the Manhunter equipment and costume. In response, she quits herself, and starts the law firm. :o

Martian Manhunter despairs at all of the lies and deceit that heroes use to do good. :\ He goes back to his old precinct where he used to be Detective John Jones. He reveals himself to everybody as the Martian Manhunter b/c he can't stand lying nemore, and then he leaves o_o

He goes back to his old office and blows it up shouting "LIES".

All of the heroes of the world get together at the Chinese border and watch Black Adam fight the Great Ten. They are unable to act b/c China refuses to allow outsiders to help. :o

J'onn joins them. Alan Scott announces that the Chinese government has asked for help and every hero in the DCU attacks Black Adam! :O

Black Adam fights them all as China debates whether to drop the bomb on the whole fight. The US decides that if China goes nuclear, that they wun respond in kind.

The Spectre watches, helpless, as Crispus Allen hasn't agreed to bond with him yet.

J'onn and Black Adam battle one on one, and Black Adam says that they are alike b/c they are both powerful outsiders whom the humans do not trust and that one day they will turn on J'onn too :O

J'onn uses his mind powers to show Adam all of the ppl he's killed and distracts him long enuf for Captain Marvel to hit him with Shazam's lightning and turn him back human! :O

However, J'onn is forever changed from being in Black Adam's mind and becomes the current mean J'onn :(

Watching from space, the Monitors say that the heroes have to evolve and change as their darkest hour is not yet upon them :O

Review: :O

That was crazy o_o;;;

52 was initially supposed to explain why the heroes were all different in One Year Later, but they got sidetracked b/c the characters in 52 were so engrossing :D But this meant that we never DID find out why the characters all changed :o

So we find out in World War III. But this means that everything is rushed and in a period of about a week, everybody changes :\ Aquaman becomes a squid, Harvey Dent takes up crime fighting, Jason Todd becomes evil Nightwing, J'onn and Supergirl become bad, the Titans become alienated. :\

Apparently Supergirl absorbed some of the hatred that J'onn had from Black Adam?

At least that's what I THINK happened :O

It just seems like crazy justification for confusing plotlines :|

It's a little dissapointing in a way b/c the great thing about OYL was that everything was different and we didn't know why. And now we do, and the "why" isn't very interesting :(

It's all Black Adam's fault XD

I now am angry at Crispus Allen. The Spectre COULD have stopped Black Adam but Allen spent his time moping instead. :\ And millions and millions died :(

I find it odd that without Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, the heroes seem so confused :\ Can't SOMEBODY lead them? They seem like they're all scattered about. Instead of trying to take on Black Adam in small groups, they should have organized and attacked him as a team, which they ultimately did xD

But by then many ppl had died :(

I'm getting tired of the gory deaths :(

When Deathstroke speared Phantom Lady, it was shocking and set the tone for Infinite Crisis and how dark the DCU was getting. :o

When Superboy beheaded Pantha and ripped of Risk's arm, it was shocking to see such a good person go so bad :(

But now... Black Adam is regularly ripping ppl in two, or killing ppl, etc :\

*sighs*

I guess I'm just tired of seeing it ;-;

Also he tells the Titans that he doesn't like killing children but if they persist in chasing him, he might develop a taste for it :O

I thought that he murdered thousands of children in Bialya. :O

Sadly, it seems like he did kill all of those ppl there b/c J'onn read his mind and confirmed he did :(

*sighs*

And the Deathstroke/Batgirl thing was just thrown in to justify Beechan's writing. >.<;; It was meaningless and felt very forced. And Batgirl's not STUPID. J'onn says that Deathstroke was taking advantage of her need for a father, but Batgirl's never been THAT one dimensional. >:\

I was a bit dissapointed by this, not b/c I didn't find J'onn's narration insightful or nething, but b/c I paid for 4 issues, and everything rly could be packed into one :( It seemed very drawn out and there was rly only one point hammered home: Black Adam is a bad person and nobody can stop him.

And they try and he kills them :\

Also... I would prolly have enjoyed the J'onn narration more if I hadn't heard it alrdy over 8 months in his own mini-series. :| All he does is talk about how bad humanity is and how we all lie and cheat and steal, etc etc... :(

However, the story is definitely very compelling and even tho it's only one person, the threat is still very real and I can see how ppl would be scared :O What a time for Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman to be gone :(

EXCEPT THAT WONDER WOMAN ISN'T GONE! She's just in Nanda Parbat moping! :(

;-;

So is Batman for that matter.

And Spectre is moping too :(

I RLY hate when heroes are too caught up in their own thing to save millions of lives :( B/c that's rly more important.

I also wish that they showed reaction from Clark Kent in Metropolis :( It must be so hard for him to sit back and watch this happen to ppl and not be able to help ;-;

What would have been rly nice to see would be if he donned the Superman costume and provided inspiration and leadership to the heroes, even tho he couldn't fight :) It would also show that Superman is important not just b/c of his powers but b/c he's a symbol of what's good in the world and that he's also a leader that ppl look up to and listen to :D

So it's sad not to see him there :(

Ultimately, World War III is an entertaining read in some parts, but in other parts it seems to be a rush job to explain OYL. :\ Also it's $2.50 US for each issue, so it's ultimately 10 dollars, and it doesn't add much to the events described in 52 :| So, that kinda works against it.

Plus it's so violent :O

Angelwings Rating: 3 crazy Black Adams out of 5 angry J'onns
Recommendation: If you have 10 dollars to spend and you're interested in reading about why the characters changed in OYL and seeing the fight with Black Adam in more detail, it might be worth it :) However, it's not a MUST READ, esp given the price. :\

Week of April 18 super short reviews :D

*deep breath*

Okies... I think I'm over all the crazy controversy about me now XD

Actually, today and yesterday have been two of my highest days in terms of how many ppl visited my reviews page! :O And what's even crazier is that I haven't posted a new review since the weekend and usually these are my slowest days :O

So I guess there's no such thing as bad publicity after all! XD

Neways, as I keep stating (over and over again, and nobody seems to pay attention), I didn't start my blog to attract attention, or to become something "big". >.<;; I NEVER advertised or nething else! I did it for b/c my friends were interested in what I had to say about comics and wanted to know what happened in the stories :D

The fact that other ppl read it and that I've made new friends b/c of the blog, is just a big huge happy bonus :D

I just dun see what the big deal is :\ Nobody's forcing nebody to read my blog.

I HOPE.

If ppl ARE forcing other ppl to read my blog, then plz plz plz stop! >:O

I write b/c I like writing :)

ANYWAYS <--- :D

So today I got:

52 - #50
Birds of Prey - #105
The Brave and the Bold - #3
Justice League of America - #8
Manhunter - #30
The Mighty Avengers - #2
Nightwing Annual - #2
World War III - #1-4

It was a lot more comics than I planned on getting. :o I officially dropped Robin, b/c, altho Robin is an extremely fun book to review and poke at, it's also not very good and comes off as just Beechan's fan fiction >.>

Kk, so here are my super short reviews :D

52 - #50 - World War III!!!!!! :O Also, like.. the shortest World War in history! XD It's just one rly rly rly big long fight >.<;;; It was kinda anti-climactic since it was rly just ppl against Black Adam, but it was also very exciting! :D I still feel bad for Black Adam even tho he apparently DID kill all of those ppl :( ALSO THE RETURN OF BOOSTER GOLD! For... a few seconds neways XD 4/5

Birds of Prey - #105 - Kinda confusing b/c there's so much going on and so many characters being juggled. :\ I've kinda lost track of the plot and what's actually going on. However, the characterization is still fun and the dialogue is great as usual! :D 3/5

The Brave and the Bold - #3 - Waid should write the entire DCU! XD He gets both Batman and Beetle down so spot on you'd swear that it was Dini and Rogers that were writing :D Also... Supergirl is hilariously cute here XDDD 5/5

Justice League of America - #8 - I can't wait for the JSA part of this story b/c I want to see Johns write this :D I still dun rly like Meltzer's writing and the narration boxes just drive me crazy! But the story itself is interesting and the book is worth it just for Mr. Terrific playing 2 chess games at once :D 3/5

Manhunter - #30 - I rly dun think that Wonder Woman would drive a hummer, but at least she can DRIVE, which means she can PUMP GAS. XD Also, the villain is... predictable... srsly... Wonder Woman has OTHER VILLAINS!!! >:| Other than that, it's a good book and has great characterization :D 3/5

The Mighty Avengers - #2 - I'm soooooo confuzzled :( Very much so :( Esp at the end. :\ And I hate how lost and confused Ms. Marvel is. I know she's a newbie leader, but I think that given her military background she'd know how to deal with crisis situations. :| Still, I'm kinda interested to see where this story goes :D 3/5

Nightwing Annual - #2 - Nightwing does something that's rly rly... horrible here. And Barbara seems to be trying to take the blame, but no.. srsly... Nightwing... >:| Ami doesn't approve! >:O *sighs* And you're such a hottie too! This book is basically about Nightwing's smex life. >.> But it tells a good story (aside from that one thing he did) and makes it believable how he and Oracle can still love each other and yet not have married. :D 2.5/5

World War III - #1-4 - Basically this is the "OHMYGAWD WE HAVE TO JUSTIFY ALL THE CHANGES IN ONE YEAR LATER NOW!!!" story XD Even Didio admits as much in his DC Nation thingie :O It's all narrated by J'onn, and apparently everything in OYL is Black Adam's fault >:| Including Supergirl and J'onn being meaniepants! xD It's 4 issues of fighting, fighting and more fighting :\ But there's also nice character moments, and you get to see how ppl are reacting to Black Adam going crazy :O It's still a LOT of money tho :o 3/5

:O

Lots of 3s :O

I guess I'm in a 3-ish mood XD But yah, nothing was especially bad this week :)

Neways! In-depth reviews coming soon! :D

But prolly not now... I need a nap :(

<3333

Teh Ami :D

Detective Comics - #831 Review

Detective Comics - #831

Synopsis: Harley Quinn is at a hearing to determine if she should be freed from Arkham Asylum. :o She tries to convince the panel that she was a victim of Stockholm Syndrome but Bruce Wayne also sits on the board and votes against it. :O

She's led back to her cell by a policewoman who then pulls a gun and goes to free her :O Harley protests, not wanting to be freed this way, but she's knocked unconscious and taken away. :O

In the Batcave, Batman and Alfred talk about who could have kidnapped her. Alfred wonders if she staged it, but Batman says that she seemed genuine about wanting to do her time. They suspect that it's the Joker behind it as he might be nursing injuries from his encounter with Robin (several issues back). Batman fears that if it is the Joker, despite her best intentions, Harley will succumb to a life of crime again :\

Harley wakes up in a bed and sees Scarface and the new ventriloquist. :o Scarface says that he needs Harley for a job b/c of her acrobatic abilities. He explains that she and the ventriloquist have a lot in common b/c they both fell in love with creeps who were no good for them o_o

Scarface wants Harley to rob a prominent mob family. She breaks in and knocks out the boss and his minions, but then she calls Commissioner Gordon and tells him where the robbery is taking place and to bring Batman! :D

Harley brings the money to Scarface but turns against his minions, who were rdy to kill her as Scarface was planning to betray and kill her neways. :O Harley accuses the new ventriloquist of stealing the old one's gimmick o_o

Batman shows up and together they beat up the bad guys, but the ventriloquist escapes after blowing up a car (with the Scarface dummy which is rigged to explode) and shooting 2 cops :O

Harley is returned to Arkham by Batman, and she explains to Batman that the original ventriloquist was rly nice to her when she first got locked up and made her feel less alone :D She felt bad b/c he was a slave to his split personality (Scarface) :(

Two days later, Bruce Wayne changes his vote and allows Harley to be free :D

Review: Bruce Wayne is on EVERY board. He's on the bank board, he's on the parole board, he's on the Arkham Asylum release board... >.>;;

Batman has so much control over Gotham! I wonder why that doesn't worry nebody >.>;;

I'm a little concerned that Batman was unable to stop the new ventriloquist from escaping even tho he KNEW that she had rigged the Scarface dolls to explode >.<;; It seemed very.. unlike Batman.

But then again, Dini writes Batman has not being super invincible b/c if he was, there'd be no story XD It's like the Animated Series vs. the Justice League series. In BTAS, Batman was rountinely knocked out by thugs. In JL, Batman was nigh invincible and no meta human, no matter how powerful, could lay a glove on him :O

This new ventriloquist is still very mysterious :O We dunno what her link to the old one is, or why she seemingly shares his split personality o_o;;

I like that Harley is being portrayed as a human being (like she was in the Animated Series) and not just as some crazy person like Morrison seems to think she is. :] I'm also glad that she's joining the Secret Six and being good and stuffs now :D

YAY! :3

I like how she, Bane, Riddler and Penguin have seemingly reformed :D I like the idea that villains can reform b/c it means that putting them in Arkham WORKS. If they just keep escaping and killing ppl, and stuff, then we wonder why they aren't being put in a new place or KILLED. >.>;;

It's the difference between how Dini writes the Batverse, which is that Gotham has a lot of crime, and some psychopaths, but in general the body count is low, compared to how some others write it, which is that Gotham is this insanely horrible place where ppl die on a regular basis and whenever Joker attacks, hundreds die.

>.>;;

It's hard to have a fun story when you know that in order for Batman to have adventures, thousands of ppl die :(

It's amusing to me that Morrison only references his own stories and Dini only references his own as well. >.>;; In Detective Comics, the Joker showed up during Christmas and was stopped by Robin. In Batman, the Joker was shot in the face, recovered and then was stopped by Batman in that horrible prose issue >:O

Hmm... I dun have much else to say except this was a rly great and fun issue, like almost all of Dini's are :D

Angelwings Rating: 4 out of 5 Harley Quinns :)
Recommendation: Another great stand-alone issue to get :D

Superman - #661 Review

Superman - #661

Synopsis: Wonder Woman rips apart a truck for an arena full of ppl in Metropolis o_O She's doing this for charity for a woman's shelter >.>

Lois watches with Clark and gets all jealous xD

They go to the Museum of Art to look at a new exhibition and Diana joins them. A woman tries to take one of the artefacts saying that it's hers. Clark tries to stop her and the woman realizes he has a lot of power and turns him into Superman o_O

She throws Wonder Woman across the room and then leaves with Superman >.>;;;

Diana tells Lois that the woman is Khyrana, a woman who had no interest in men in the past and spurned Zeus' advances. Zeus cursed her to need a man in order to live. So now she goes around sleeping with men b/c she has to >.>;;

Zeus is a jerk. >:O

This of course makes Khyrana the villain of the story, so Diana and Lois do some research and find out she's been living under many different guises over the years with different men that she uses.

Diana bursts into Khyrana's penthouse and finds a weak Superman. Khyrana and Diana fight, then Superman tries to fight and Khyrana beats him up cuz he's weak. He falls into a room with the severed heads of her former lovers. o_O Khyrana steals Diana's powers but conveniently Superman and Diana's powers dun like each other and it makes Khyrana woozy. Superman and Diana knock her out o_O

Diana says that she'll talk to the Gods (!?) to see if they can help Khyrana.

Lois takes them home where they fall asleep together on the couch. o_O

Review: How do all these ppl like Khyrana run around and not be known to Wonder Woman!? You'd think that she would know of her and alrdy have tried to help her!

Also... how does Khyrana who's been living and interacting in our society for ... ever.. not know who the 2 biggest superheroes are? :o

Mind you, Wonder Woman is also acting stupid again, not knowing what a cyber cafe is.. etc

I'm tired of this new idiotic Wonder Woman! >:O

Wouldn't hitting Khyrana, who has now absorbed the powers of the two most powerful ppl on the planet, RLY RLY HURT!? Even if Superman and Wonder Woman still have some power, it would still hurt b/c Khyrana has super invinciblity now!

Considering the frequency of superheroic activity in the DCU, Wonder Woman showing up at an event to crush cars shouldn't be all that special >.>;;

Zeus is a jerk >:O A big mean jerk! >:O Srsly, that's HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! It's like making it so a woman has to be raped in order to live b/c she doesn't WANT to have smex with guys, she's FORCED to.

And all this is okay b/c she keeps the guy's heads in jars.

It's the old fiction thing where despite the villain's origins and motives, it's what they DO they we should focus on. :\ Like Circe in the previous Wonder Woman arc. Her point (which is that Wonder Woman has the power to save millions of women and children from slavery and prostitution but doesn't) is ignored b/c she's EBIL. >:|

And I thought the Gods left the world during Infinite Crisis. How can Diana ask them for help? >.>;;

OH AND CLARK TURNS INTO SUPERMAN IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY!

It's played off like ppl can't remember who he is.. like "was it the guy in the glasses or did he have a moustache?"

Right. >.>;;

Clark Kent is a best-selling novelist and a pulitzer prize winner. In Metropolis, EVERYBODY knows him. Him and Lois Lane XD The fact that her husband was turned into Superman in front of everybody wouldn't make ppl go "who is he?" They'd go "OMG CLARK KENT IS SUPERMAN!"

Plus museums have security cameras.

e_e

What a bad story. XD

Esp since we had 2 rly good standalone Superman stories before this :(

And Lois is just NOW jealous of Wonder Woman!? Superman and Wonder Woman have known each other for like 10 years!! >:|

I love how Superman is just draped on Khyrana's bed thing when Wonder Woman walks in XD He's not tied up, and he clearly has the energy to get up and punch her and stuff. So, why doesn't he just escape? Maybe he can't fly, but he can drop out of the window can't he? He should still be invulnerable enuf to survive that. :o

Given Khyrana's propensity for going after rich men to use their money to fund projects to help women (again, this is glossed over b/c she's EBIL), I'm shocked she never ran into Bruce Wayne or Lex Luthor XD

The cover is also horrible XD It's got words on the actual cover which I rly dun like. I know it seems campy, but it's never done well, it's just like "I'll kill you Superman since my name is ANNIHILUS!" or something like that >.>;; And Wonder Woman looks more like she's trying to feel up Khyrana than stop her O_O;;;

Neways...

What a bad story. XD

Angelwings Rating: 1.5 out of 5 incompetent Wonder Women
Recommendation: Definitely not worth the money >.<;;;

Teen Titans - #45 Review

Teen Titans - #45

Synopsis: Batgirl attacks Slade. Jericho takes over Inertia's body and attacks Slade as well :O

Riddler's daughter and Joker's daughter attack Raven. Raven offers Joker's daughter membership in the Teen Titans and she accepts and beats up Riddler's daughter! :O

They free Cyborg who wants them to help the Titans but Raven says that there are others :O

Kid Crusader tries to kill Kid Devil but instead takes his demon form! :O Kid Devil (in human form now) escapes and is led to Miss Martian via telepathy and frees her too :D

Match (Bizzaro Superboy) beats up Wonder Girl and Batgirl and Robin. Wonder Girl gets all mad at him and beats him up and then he beats her up >.>;;;

Robin tries to get ppl to organize but they dun listen and the bad Titans show up >.>

Much fighting ensues. >.>;;

Ravager and Jericho are defeated by Inertia and Deathstroke. The Titans lose to the evil Titans off panel XD

Deathstroke orders them not to kill the Titans until his children can watch them die.

Nightwing, Beast Boy, Raven, Donna Troy, Cyborg, Flash (Bart Allen) and Duella Dent show up to stop him :O

Review: The only thing worthwhile in this issue was the old Titans showing up XD

That was a fangirl moment :D I wish it was Wally and not Bart tho, but both were still Titans :D

The rest of the issue was just a lot of back and forth fighting :( The good guys lose, win then lose again >.>;;

I did like that Miss Martian told Sungirl to tell her what she did in the future to hurt humanity so she can not hurt humanity! :D That's what I would do! :D

Wonder Girl continues to annoy me :\ All she has on her mind is Connor. That's ALL. >:|

The Titans suddenly tune Robin out when it's their most important fight? :o

Having them be defeated off panel is silly :( I rly hate when important (and improbable) things happen and we dun see it happen. :\ How did the bad Titans who dun work together beat the good Titans who SHOULD work together? XD

And Batgirl is treated as just a bouncy fighter. She has no personality or character of her own. And she gets knocked out by Risk right at the beginning of the fight. :\ Also she inexplicably lays off Deathstroke after Jericho gets involved XD

Risk's dialogue says everything.

"Finally stopped bouncin' around so we could get our hands on you, huh, girl?

Too bad for you!"

And then he kicks her in the back of the head and she's out for the rest of the fight :\

Batgirl would not be taken down so easily. >:O

Neways... the next issue promises big things... and hopefully they'll deliver :\ I rly am not a big Beechan fan, and I've alrdy dropped Robin. :| I'll see if I'll drop the Titans too :(

Angelwings Rating: 2 meaningless fights out of 5 kicks to the head XD
Recommendation: You could (and should) prolly ignore this issue and not miss a beat in this story XD

52 - #49 Review

52 - #49

Synopsis: Egg-Fu a.k.a. Chang-Tzu is talking to Alan Scott and the JSA who are standing outside of Oolong Island, unable to enter b/c of their shields.

Alan Scott threatens to break thru, but they are interrupted by the Great Ten, the Chinese superheroes :O Socialist Red Guardsman tells Alan Scott that he is on Chinese territory and that if they attempt to enter it'll be an act of war against China :O

Egg-Fu revels in the power he has and how the world is in his hands now :O He goes to talk to Will Magnus to find out how the Plutonium Man that he's supposed to make is going. Will tells him that his creations are brought to life by the Responsometer and that it gives life and personality to metals based on their properties. Egg-Fu notes that many metallic objects have gone missing, and Magnus says that Egg-Fu has been monitoring him but that he should have been looking elsewhere and that Metal Men create themselves and can be any size :D

The mini-Metal Men attack Egg-Fu with their powers, disrupting his circuitry :D

Dr. Morrow hear's the fighting and grabs a weapon to investigate.

Alan Scott tells the Great Ten that the JSA doesn't work for a government, but they dun believe him b/c it's called the Justice SOCIETY of America >.>;;

Atom Smasher wants to barge in but Alan Scott tells him to stop and asks why the Great Ten is willing to risk World War over Black Adam. :o Thundermind's eyes glow and Alan Scott says that China is trying to cover up the fact that Egg-Fu is actually a member of the Great Ten! :O

Mercury is talking to Magnus when he's blown apart by Dr. Morrow! He tells Magnus not to disable the shields but Magnus says it's too late and that this has to end. He gives Morrow Dr. Sivana's teleporting device that will take him to an Omnibot that's orbitting Earth :O Morrow asks why Magnus is willing to help him after how awful he's been to him. Will says that it's b/c despite being a super villain genius, Morrow was still the best teacher he'd ever had. Morrow beams away. :o

Sivana rummages thru his stuff while Black Adam is lying nearby. He can't find his teleporter XD He mocks Black Adam while Black Adam threatens him.

Alan Scott continues to expose the Great Ten's secrets saying that Oolong Island was a Red Chinese stronghold in the past and that under orders from Beijing, Egg-Fu used Intergang's money to fund projects to assasinate the Black Marvel family. :o However, Black Adam was not supposed to escape, and his existence threatens to expose China's sekrit plans. The Great Ten are here to make sure that nothing gets out.

Egg-Fu knows that he has leverage so he's playing all sides against each other :O

August General in Irons wonders how Alan Scott can know all this, but Thundermind's glowing eyes tell us that he's feeind Alan information :)

The shields drop, and the JSA go in. :O

Dr. Magnus confronts Egg-Fu and the other mad scientists :O He shoots Lead at Egg-Fu and Lead is able to shatter Egg-Fu's suit :O He threatens the other scientists with a gun and sends them fleeing :D

He shoots Egg-Fu killing him! :O Then he surrenders himself to the JSA.

Atom Smasher sees Dr. Sivana trying to sneak away and grabs him, threatening to grind his bones to dust if he doesn't tell him where Black Adam is :O

Atom Smasher breaks into Adam's cell and frees him. He tells Black Adam that he's here with the JSA to tak him into custody and protect him, but Black Adam will have none of it! :O Atom Smasher begs Black Adam to tell him that it wasn't rly him that killed all of the ppl in Biyala but that it was Death. Black Adam doesn't answer, just saying that they wanted war and he's going to give it to them. He flies off to go after the ppl responsible for killing his family :O

In Metropolis, Nuklon and the remaining heroes from the Everyman Project talk about what they're going to do now. Nuklon thinks that they should continue to be heroes and prove to the world that they're the future and all they need is a chance.

His thinking is overlaid with Black Adam flying towards us :O

Review: :O

YAY!!! :D

A lot in this book made me cheer :D Seeing Will Magnus stand up for himself and not let nething get in his way was rly nice :D I feel bad for him, esp since they took away his medication :(

Watching the Metal Men in action is always a delight too! They're so fun and stuffs :D

I hope Mercury isn't dead tho :(

I hate Egg-Fu and I'm glad he's dead... even tho I still dunno what he is XD He exploded like an egg! Was he a living egg? :O

I also cheered when Thundermind helped Alan Scott :D I like how he did the right thing without being overt about it :)

China's the ppl behind it tho? :\ I KNOW my sister will hate this. She's very pro-Chinese and interprets a lot of stuff as being anti-Asian (for instance she refuses to read the Atom b/c she believes it's racist). >.>;;;

Mind you... Amanda Waller and the US government is also up to bad things too :( Both China and the US tried to get rid of Black Adam and his family, just in different ways...

Poor Black Adam :(

Is he going after China now tho? :o I can see how this starts a World War :O Tho I can't see how it ends in a few weeks xD

I also like how Infinity Inc is being tied into this too and it seems that they're going to try to stop Black Adam to prove themselves and that will just lead to worse things :( And I can see why the JSA decided to train young heroes after WWIII now :)

Where's Booster Gold? :(

I still hope that Black Adam didn't murder everybody in Biyala. He didn't say that he did or didn't. :o

I rly liked the look on Atom Smasher's face when he talked to Black Adam b/c he normally looks so grim and mean and he looked panicked and scared and worried for his friend :O

Stupid governments and stuff :( *sighs* None of this would have happened if ppl just left Black Adam alone!

It reminds me of the season finale of Battlestar Galactica where Lee Adama points out that the good guys are forgiven for everything they do, but the "bad guys" (Baltar) have everything they do held against them. :\

That's very meta... Black Adam's villainy can't be forgiven, but Batman building Brother-Eye can? Some villains can be forgiven if they're attractive, or charismatic, but not Black Adam b/c he's not apologetic? :\

It rly plays to the fact that we are willing to forgive ppl we like over ppl we dun like, regardless of what the facts actually are. :|

Neways this was a rly good issue with lots of drama built into it :D You rly felt that things were heading towards a climax and that there was desperation in the air :)

GO MINI-METAL MEN!!! :D

Angelwings Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Mini-Metal Men
Recommendation: A great issue :D Definitely a must read!

Week of April 11 super short reviews :3

Meow meow! :D

I is back for another week of comics :D

Today was a light week :3 Which is good b/c my wallet is getting mad at me :(

I also finally found Justice Society of America #1 which made me very happy :D My comic store bought more :D But they cost a little more than usual :( But I still have it :3

I also officially dropped Wonder Woman and Gen 13, one b/c I just can't stand being dissapointed by more issues and the other b/c the first arc didn't rly grab me and I need to cut down on how many comics I buy :(

Also it was something about Fairchild running around half naked in a land of dinosaurs .. >.>;;

So today I got:

52 - #49
JLA Classified - #37
Justice Society of America - #1
Teen Titans - #45

Yay for a light week! :D

Hopefully this (and the fact that my stupid meds are FINALLY wearing off) will let me get to some back issues reviews :D

Neways, here are my super short reviews! :D

52 - #49 - This was a stand up and cheer issue :D After all the bad stuff that's been happening in the DCU, it was nice to the good guys win a battle :D Everything that happened made me go YAY!!! :D WWIII is starting tho and that's sad :( Poor Black Adam ;-; But I like how another arc links into WWIII at the end and we can see why the JSA was reformed as it was :) 4.5/5

JLA Classified - #37 - A new arc :O This story seems interesting altho right now the new protagonist seems a little boring :( But it's just one issue and I hope he'll get more interesting :D It's an interesting thing tho... :o What would YOU do if you suddenly got all of the powers of the Justice League? 4/5

Justice Society of America - #1 - It's not rly fair for me to review this after I've read 2, 3 and 4 XD But I will neways! >:D I liked this issue and I rly liked how they recruited the members. :] It was a LOT better than JLA #1 and Cyclone makes me so happy XD Cyclone and Misfit should have a Brave and the Bold adventure together! :D There's a lot of narration boxes tho, but Johns manages to make ppl's thoughts seem normal and not chock full of simile :] 5/5

Teen Titans - #45 - I blame Beechan XD This story is running in circles and I rly dunno what's the point of nething :\ The only good part is the surprise ending, but without Wally it's not as good :( This issue was very pointless b/c while a lot of fighting happened, nothing ACTUALLY happened. Also Batgirl is being treated as fighter and seemingly has no character of her own XD 2/5

And that's all! :D

YAY FOR LIGHT WEEKS!!!! :333

I'm pleased :D

I think I'll order a pizza >.>;;

Neways... I'll be putting up my longer reviews soon! :D

The Brave and the Bold - #2 Review

The Brave and the Bold - #2

Synopsis: Green Lantern and Supergirl are flying thru space and Supergirl is talking about how Superman had to put out a volcano and she didn't want to. :O She also flirts shamelessly with GL XD

Hal explains to her that they're chasing somebody who stole a book that has all of history (past, present, future) written in it. :| The alien criminal who took the book, fled to a giant planet casino and that's where they're going :O

They arrive and Supergirl sees a guy being thrown out a window and catches him! He claims that the casino cheated him of his money and when he complained they threw him out the window :O Supergirl asks a cop where he can go to complain but the cop is Hal in disguise! He explains to her that the planet has very tight security and nobody can get away with cheating :O

To make his point he points out a guy who beams in from the future hoping to make a fortune but these dogs that can sniff out time travellers attack him and he has to beam out again :O

They talk about the book again while the guy that Supergirl rescued is sekritly listening in :O

In Texas, a Waynetech plane is flying unknown cargo from Las Vegas to El Paso. As the plane flies by, Batman sekritly leaves it :O

One of the other alien criminals is tracking Batman from afar and about to shoot him when Blue Beetle interrupts! He flies by Batman and Batman tells him to go after the assassin but Beetle's lost track of him and the weapon he was using >.>;;

The weapon is then aimed at them again while they're talking and fires! :O

Back on the gambling planet, the person with the book is staying ahead of the authorities by reading it and he's in a room filled with pretty alien girls >.>;;; However, he sees in the book that an alien girl is behind him but when he turns around it's actually another girl and when he looks back at the book it changes! :O

In the arena, ppl are placing bets on a fight while Hal and Kara watch :O Kara keeps flirting with Hal and he tells her to stop and hurts her feelings >.> She flies off and Hal thinks he's on his own, but she returns as a challenger, wearing a little pink schoolgirl outfit :O

Ppl expect her to be destroyed easily, and they all bet against her except for 1 person, who is the person who has the book of destiny :O This allows Hal to find him while Kara beats up the giant rock creatures she has to fight :O

Hal reaches the criminal's room but is too late and has to fight off the police instead! Kara arrives and uses her x-ray vision to find the person but before they can act, the person is attacked by the man that Kara saved earlier who steals the book!

Green Lantern catches him but he says that he's from Rann and that he was here to get funds for the Rann-Thanagar war, but that this book is more valuable :O He Zeta Beams out with GreeN Lantern as Supergirl tries to catch up but is too slow!

She lands in the middle of the arena again where her costume is torn and reveals her Supergirl costume :O Since everybody in the universe knows who Superman is (apparently XD) they all freak out and realize she's a ringer. :O

Review: Why would Kara's fake clothes rip from smashing into the ground but her real clothes be okay? :o If we go with the "super-aura" thing where her clothes (and cape) are protected as long as they're near her, wouldn't this also apply to her pink clothes? :O

I guess if this was Kelly and Churchill, her real clothes would rip right off too XDDD

Is the Rann-Thanagar war STILL going on!? :O

I liked this book tho :D Altho I thought Kara was a bit over flirty >.>;;; But it's still fun :D

Plus Kara is portrayed as a good person! :D She saved the person from falling and then tried to find a cop for the person to complain to about being cheated :D That's something that the OTHER Supergirl would NEVAR do >:O

Batman and the Blue Beetle was cute XD They were both in character and I like that :D

I think that's it's rly important in a book like this to get all the characters right since you're using so many, and you should make sure that they're being portrayed right :D

I guess there's not a lot else to say XD It was a fun story and the banter between them was rly good :D I also like how Waid doesn't use the DKR thought boxes XD I'm honestly getting annoyed by how prolific they are >.>;;

I wonder if there's a hero out there who doesn't keep a running monologue in their brain XD

If this were Morrison it'd go:

Lantern: Her skin, so soft, like peaches in the midday sun of a beautiful summer's day, glowing, mocking me, making me think dark, impure thoughts, thoughts that invade my mind like demons from the netherworld, out to suck my soul dry like a well, a well in a desert city...

>.>;;

XDDDD

Neways :D

GOOD BOOK!!!

YOU.

READ NOW!

>.>;;

:D

Angelwings Rating: 4 out of 5 Pink Supergirls :D
Recommendation: A fun book :D And this series is promising to be a bunch of rly good and amusing team ups :D Def check it out!

Amazing Spider-Man - #539 Review

Amazing Spider-Man - #539

Synopsis: Peter Parker clutches his aunt in his arms as she's been shot by a sniper bullet meant for him :O

Parker runs outside, grabs a car and flings it at the direction of the sniper o_O

Mary Jane panics and tries to dial 911, but Peter says there's no time, grabs Aunt May and swings off >.>;; He takes her to a hospital by breaking thru a window and then hides as various nurses run in o_o

In jail, Kingpin is informed that while they didn't kill Mary Jane and Spiderman, they did get Aunt May o_o

Peter meets Mary Jane in Times Square and tells her to use Aunt May's maiden name for the hospital. He then leaves to go hurt somebody e_e

Peter goes to the apartment where the sniper is and when stopped by a cop, he viciously webs him to the wall >.>

He finds a piece of a scope and swings off for more answers >.>;; He interrupts a weapons deal and beats everybody up in a vicious and bloody style and then grabs the last guy and breaks his hands and bones until the guy starts to tell him about the scope >.>

Mary Jane goes to the hospital and finds that May has slipped into a coma which she might NEVAR come out of!! (dun dun dun >.>)

Peter swings to a gargoyle on a building and takes out the infamous black costume that he's apparently had webbed there for a long time. He puts it on and said that he's gonna find whoever did this and kill them >.>

Review: o_o;;; For a second I had to check my calender to make sure it was 2007 and not 1997 XD Now Spiderman's all hardcore and mean :(

But as much as some ppl like it, I dun rly :\ First off, this is Peter's fault. He keeps making decisions without thinking about the consequences and then he gets mad when there are consequences :\

As my sister says, he acts like a teenager, it's everybody's fault but his own.

He joined the pro-reg forces without thinking or finding out exactly what he was getting into. And when he didn't like what was going on, he decides that he can just snap his fingers and leave. And when Stark offers an amnesty, he doesn't take it, and then blames other ppl when his family is now under attack and has no protection :\

It's a no-win scenario in some ways... but he still made the decisions :| He could (and should) have sent MJ and May away when this whole thing started, allowing him to choose sides without feeling pressured. Once he decided to expose his identity to the world, he must have known there was no going back and somebody was gonna go after his family now. So when he just decided to switch sides and lose that protection, this was just inevitable :\

Yus, it's still evil to go after his family and stuff... but Peter made the decision to join Tony and be the first hero to reveal himself. And he made the decision to turn against Tony and put his family in danger :\

And he made the decision to stay in America instead of leaving like some other heroes.

If Peter wants to play government hero, then rebel hero, then saviour of America hero, that's fine, but if he wants his family around too, they will get hurt :\

He webbed the cop's face and torso so tight that I wonder if the cop could breathe? :(

And like... why is he now killing and torturing ppl? I think it's cuz he knows that he was being irresponsible by putting his family at risk and that he just wants to take it out on ppl :(

I thought his webbing eventually deteriorated? How could he have a web bag holding clothes that he put there "a long time ago"? o_O

I dun like this new murdering, torturing, Spiderman :( This is a hero we should cheer for? He's worse than Batman :(

I wonder if taking an elderly victim of a gunshot wound thru the cold night air at incredible speeds is better than waiting for an ambulance? :\

I didn't like how MJ was all panicking and couldn't call 911 and just muttering to herself "gotta call 911". >.>;; She's more capable under pressure than that!!!!

Murr... despite my problems with stuff in this book tho, it wasn't that badly written, and is prolly enjoyable to ppl who like a darker, meaner, more violent Spiderman. And it does set his life on a more interesting course :O

I just dun rly like it :(

Angelwings Review: 3 out of 5 Angry Spidermen
Recommendation: If you've always wanted to see Spiderman merge with DKR Batman, then you'll prolly like this book :) But if you dun like this darker new Marvel Universe, you should skip it. :|

Catwoman - #65 Review

Catwoman - #65

Synopsis: Lex Luthor catches Catwoman trying to take his snow globe :O He talks a lot and Catwoman tries to kick him in the throat to shut him up but Luthor bends backwards and avoids it :O He then grabs her by the throat and she has to get free by slashing his face!

This rips off some skin and reveals that he's a robot!

Catwoman runs off and finds a bazooka and shoots it at him! She assumes he was destroyed and tries to warp herself out but her teleportation device fails :( The Lexbot (which was not destroyed) throws a car at her and then approaches to kill her. :O

In desperation, Selina runs into a machine that warps her 4 minutes into the past which is how she met herself in last issue :O

She warps back 12 seconds later and Luthor explains to her that it was a failed attempt at time travel that the real Luthor tried :O It only lasts 12 seconds. >.>

The Luthor robot beats her up when she returns and then takes a picture of her baby from her and says he'd like to meet her. This spurs Selina to attack Luthor, trying to puncture a weakspot she spotted on the back of his neck >.> However this activates some electric field and she's thrown off!

Lexbot gloats some more and Selina stabs him thru the ear and then rips out his neck thingie :O Lexbot then says he's been programmed to explode in case he was defeated and that there's nowhere for her to run. :O

Selina grabs the snowglobe again and runs into the teleporting beacon, allowing her to skip the explosion (apparently >.>;;)

Conveniently enuf, the explosion blows a hole in the ceiling and she escapes. :O

She beats up a guard and takes his outfit and leaves Lexcorp as ppl react to the explosion. :o

Superman shows up as she leaves and tells her that the globe doesn't belong to her. :\ She tells Superman that all she did is steal a snowglobe and that it'd help somebody that means a lot to her. Superman believes her and leaves. >.>;;

Selina talks to Calculator who agrees to erase Holly's name from the police files. He is about to tell Selina about the escaped Russian duo who are out to get her when Warp shows up behind Selina demanding his technology back :O

Review: By far the best part of this comic was the non-stop chattering of the egomaniacal Lex Luthor robot XD I think that thing has more of an ego than the real Lex XDDD

I find it funny that Lex and Superman both built robots of themselves :O Maybe they're not so different after all!

THe time travel thing confused me :( In Lexbot's own words:

"That device sends you four minutes into the past and a two dozen yards to the east. Unfortunately, the effect only lasts twelve seconds. Traveller's bounce back to where-- and WHEN-- they started."

So it shouldn't allow her to skip the explosion! It didn't say that traveller's come back 12 seconds later. It says that travellers come back WHEN they started. So if she vanished, even if 12 seconds pass for her, she'll show up EXACTLY when she left, and she'd STILL be killed by the explosion :\

I kept re-reading the line trying to find some way to interpret that the traveller vanishes for 12 seconds, but it wasn't there :(

That's kinda sloppy writing. All it takes is to change the line to have Lex say that you go away for 12 seconds and come back 12 seconds later. >.>;;

Does Superman know who Selina is? He SHOULD. Selina's identity has never been a sekrit since she was arrested before. :o Also he has x-ray vision XD But it's confusing if he does or not here :\ If he doesn't, then why does he just let Selina get away? Superman wouldn't accept stealing even if it's for a good cause unless somebody actually explained to him that it was. Simply b/c a criminal believes in what he or she is doing doesn't mean that it's right or they believe correctly. :|

The idea is that Superman believes her b/c he can tell by her heartbeat she's not lying. But first off, there are trained liars, and a trained thief could very well be a trained liar. Secondly, as I said, some bad ppl do believe in what they do, and they wouldn't be lying when they say that they're doing it for a good cause. :| That doesn't mean that they are. :o

So why would Superman just say "oh okay" and go away unless he knew who she was, but if he did, neither one said nething about it >.>;; And if he did, he's going to mention this to Batman, and then Selina's whole "going around Batman" thing would be for moot >.>;;

I'm getting tired of having Selina go nuts whenever somebody threatens her baby. :\ I'm just tired in general of the idea that women are somehow more powerful when they have the "motherly instinct" thing. :| It IS true that it would inspire them, but I would think that Selina would be inspired regardless. And I'm just tired of seeing it over and over again xD

It's the same as Lex picking up Lois' photo and going "mmm I want her" and then Superman going NOOOO and fighting back XD

It's used and it's tired and it implies that the hero wasn't trying XD

So if Lexbot hadn't blown a hole in the ceiling then Selina would just be trapped forevar? XD

Neways, Lexbot stole the show :D He just wouldn't stop talking! XDD It was very fun :D If not for him this would have been a forgettable issue and arc :(

Next is the Russian duo, but I'm not very excited about that plot at all :\ I may drop the book until the Amazons Attack tie-in :|

Angelwings Rating: 3 out of 5 Lexbots
