52 - #47 Review

52 - #47

Synopsis: In Nanda Parbat, Tim Drake is waiting for Bruce Wayne who is finding himself in the caves on a spiritual journey :O A monk comes by and tries to help Tim meditate by asking him a confusing riddle. :o

In Gotham, Intergang is still trying to find Batwoman and fails despite using magic spells to try to find her :O The leader is angry, but the girl who is casting the magic spell realizes that the prophecy in the Crime Bible says that Batwoman's name is Cain and that they can track her down by finding a woman who has the funds and power to be Batwoman and whose name is "Cain" (or Kane I guess xD).

On Oolong Island, Professor Magnus is building some sort of robot and complaining that Black Adam's screams from being tortued by the other scientists are making him upset and that when he's upset he creates horrible things :O The robot awakes and seems scary and the pocket Metal Men that Magnus made tell him to turn it off and he does!

In space, Animal Man meets the aliens that give him powers and they tell him that he's entered Space-B which is outside normal space. They show him the future which is his wife and some man that we can't rly see out on a date. The man says that he's glad that she's finally moving on. :O This upsets Animal Man. :(

Wonder Woman, also in Nanda Parbat, DCU Party Town that it is, is also on a spiritual journey to find her path and who she is. :O

Back in Gotham, Renee shows up at Kathy Kane (Batwoman)'s apartment to find it ransacked! Nightwing shows up and says that they have to rescue her O_O;;;

Beast Boy is with Steel and Natasha Irons as they open up their new superhero team: Steelworks :D The scientist that was helping Steel before shows up and says she quit her job and then they kiss >.>;;;

In Nanda Parbat, the monk tells Robin that Bruce has come out (no, not in THAT way XD) and he comes out and seems all happy! :O See! When you come out you feel a lot better! :D XDDD

Okay, I'll stop XD

Review: :O I wonder if we can afford to have these kinds of issues when there's only 3 weeks left to World War III? O_O;;;

This week, I realized (with a little help from IGN) that Animal Man is Odysseus :O He totally is!!! I can't believe I didn't see it until this week! But then again, it took the vision of another man courting his wife to rly make the analogy work :O

But if you look at it, Animal Man leaves his wife and family behind to join his friends and allies in battle in a far away place (in this case space). :o In the aftermath, he gets seperated from his friends on his way home and has many adventures, being tossed this way and that. His family gives up hope on him and presumes him dead. He's also being guided by powerful beings (aliens instead of gods here) who help him along and now provide him with guidance. :O And now his wife has suitors!!!!

>.>;;

I wonder if Animal Man and his son are gonna end up killing a whole bunch of suitors... XDDD

But yus! Now I wish we had more adventures of Animal Man earlier!!!!

:(

I love the Odyssey ;-;

I wonder if he makes it home at the end of 52 or will we get more issues of him in a seperate book or something? :O

I like Animal Man, and I like him even more now that he's Odysseus :D

Hmm... everything else was sorta blah :\

What exactly is the point of Batwoman btw!? I've been annoyed about this from the beginning >:| All we know about her is that she's Jewish and a lipstick lesbian. And now she's been captured to give Renee motivation.

And why is Nightwing involved? :| This is one of the plotlines that RLY should have been fleshed out more and instead it got totally ignored and now we're left with very little to go on :( Intergang is bad and they worship a Crime Bible now. Batwoman is a lesbian and now she's been captured. But there's no substance :(

Blah :\ Apparently Batwoman survives beyond 52, but we never see or hear from her OYL... so I'm still worried for the character, even tho we know nothing about her. :|

I've heard a theory that Darkseid is behind everything relating to the Crime Bible, including Intergang and Oolong Island and WWIII (and maybe even Skeets?) That would make a lot of sense actually! Esp since Darkseid is involved in Countdown (according to the ads neways) and that the Crime Bible references Apokolips a lot. Starting a war on Earth would also be something he'd do. :O

I hope he's back b/c I love Darkseid :D He's like DC's Dr. Doom :3

However, I dunno what's going on with Darkseid and the New Gods :( Was Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers canonical? Is Darkseid rly a mob boss on Earth now and Granny Goodness a Madam? :o Or did IC wipe all that out or what? :O I'm confused :(

Nanda Parbat is very busy for a monastary that is supposed to be hidden from the world xD

I wonder what's going on with Batman? :O I think he looked so happy cuz he realized that how much money he could save if he just hired ex-prostitutes as employees for Waynetech XDDDD

And Diana's vision quest helps her find her true calling as a ditz who doesn't know how to order coffee or pump gas XD

>.>;;

<.<;;;

Steelworks seems cool :O

Why are all female scientists always super young and super hot? :O I work in a medical research building and none of the scientists look or dress like that :O

At least everybody's happy in Steel's plotline now tho! :D

What's going on with Booster Gold!!!?????????

*sigh*

He's been gone for a long time :(

Hmm... that is all :] I apologize if my synopsis was a little wrong or things were out of order. I'm doing it by memory :(

Honestly, looking back at the other issues now, I realize that even tho some issues (like this one) are sort of "blah" at points, that together it reads rly well :) Cuz it's just one big long plot and there will always be "blah" parts of a plot. :] And when it's finally collected it's gonna be so awesome! :D

Angelwings Rating: 3 Animal Men out of 5 Odysseys
Recommendation: A solid issue but not as great as some of the recent ones :]

Batman - #664 Review

Batman #664

Synopsis: Bruce Wayne gets a call in Gibraltar where he's just beaten up what looks like hundreds of Man-Bat ninjas XD The woman on the other line wants to meet up with him :O

Bruce parachutes onto a high mountain top where she is and then they go skiing :O He spots a helicopter following her and nails it with one of the ski poles, taking it down! But it turns out just to be Paparazzi. They go to dinner and it's revealed that the woman, Jezebel and Bruce are old friends and her father was assasinated for what he believed in. :O Bruce said that he got over his parents deaths. >.>;;; LIAR!!! XDD

In Gotham a ridiculous looking pimp is arguing with some cops who want to hire some of his prostitutes. :o They refuse to work b/c the girls that go into this building, die. The cops insist the girls have to go in to pacify "him".

Batman interrupts and beats ppl up! :O

Batman grabs the pimp and roughs him up, then talks to the girls. He finds the youngest girl who he apparently knows, and gives her a Waynetech card telling her that they're hiring secretaries. The other prostitutes them him that the guy inside is a cop. :o

Batman goes into the building and several inner monologues later, he confronts this giant Bane-type guy wearing a Batman cape and cowl :O They fight and Batman thinks about how this is linked to the cop in the Batman costume who shot Joker in the face and how it all relates to the black casebook and how everybody's in danger :O Batman gets beaten up and Bane-Batman steps on his back with a sickening crack! Bane-Batman walks away leaving Batman lying on the ground with a huge footprint on his back!

Review: "Bent Cops. Monsters. Sick sweet smell of human flesh past its sell-by date. The crawling sixth sense that tells me I'm on to something rotten. I'm opening a can so full of worms you could bury your dead in there and they'd be bones by morning."

>.>;;;

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>:O

I thought we were DONE with this! This isn't even a prose issue!!!! >_<;;;

I rly dun think NEBODY actually thinks like this or has this sorta inner monologue.

Batman's rly mean to his prostitute friend :( She says she can't read or write and he says "I don't need to hear excuses. You can talk. You can smile and answer a phone, right?"

Um... and what happens when she has to take a message? What happens when she has to write a memo, or read a memo? >.> Being a secretary isn't just being cute, smiling and saying "HI!" to ppl.

Even a reception girl, which is what he said she can do, should know how to read and write. >.>;; But at least he IS trying to help.. in his sociopathic Batman way XD

He's handing out WAYNETECH CARDS NOW!?

Nightwing got Raptor's wife a job at Waynetech's warehouse. I can't remember the exact situations, but I know Batman and his Batfriends have been helping ppl get jobs at Waynetech and other places whenever they need help. :o

Isn't that just a LITTLE suspicious? And dun ppl wonder why Bruce Wayne seems okay that BATMAN is telling prostitutes to look for work at his company? >.>;;

And is Bruce Wayne PERSONALLY interviewing these girls or something? How can he guarantee that they'll get jobs there? Esp if they have no place to live, prolly can't type up a resume (since she can't READ OR WRITE) and since she can barely talk properly, wun make for a good interview. >.>;;

Also it amuses me b/c of this line from the (rly humourous) Government Manual for New Superheroes:

When in civilian mode, do not tell others that you are a superhero. Conversely, when you are in superhero mode, do not let on who you are the rest of the time with any specificity, even when you must forgo an opportunity to advance your civilian career or that of a close friend or relative. For example if your father is a glazier, you must keep yourself from handing out his business card even after a battle that leaves many large storefront windows shattered.

XD

And here Batman is handing out Waynetech business cards and saying "here, ask them for a job, you'll get hired, promise" >.>;;;

Can't Batman direct her to Leslie Thompkins (is she still evil? I can't keep track nemore XD) or somebody and then THEY direct the girls to Waynetech? >.>;;

Batman is becoming more and more like Ironman XD How long until Batman "works" for Waynetech?

The rest of the story isn't very interesting either, since all that rly happened is that Batman beat some ppl up and then got beaten up by Bane-Batman >.>;;

And broke his back again. <.<;; Manhunter is featuring the old Manhunter becoming the new Azrael, so it's perfect timing!!! XDDD

OH!!! My friend Trish just pointed out something I completely missed! SHE CAN'T READ! HE GAVE HER A BUSINESS CARD!!!! XDDDDDDD That's MEAN! >:O

Neways... I'm thinking of dropping this book. >.>;; Morrison can be a rly good writer, but right now he seems obsessed with the similes and making stories that aren't interesting, are uber violent, and are making me go O_O;; WTF!????

Also Bruce Wayne throws a ski pole perfectly aimed at a trailing helicopter that nobody paid much attention to and blew it out of the sky. >.> Honestly, does he even care about his sekrit identity at all!? XDDD He tries to play it off as an accident. Riiight. How many times has a ski pole "accidentally" flown straight into the air like a bullet slamming perfectly into the rotor mechanism of a helicoptor that's hundreds of feet above the skiers!? I'd be surprised if it even happened ONCE in human history XD

Hitting that helicoptor looks rly hard to do on purpose much less by accident!!!! >.>;;

On a side note, I think Batman rly needs an associate who runs a social work clinic or something, something that he can use to fight the roots of crime while he tackles the symptoms. :)

Actually, it's a wasted opportunity that Diana (wanting to know more about humans and work with them) didn't take something like THAT as her sekrit identity. :( Instead she has a secret agent job that isn't going to tell her how regular normal society works or nething >.>;; Her goal with the identity was to get to know the ppl she's saving better. Yet, she works in an elitist government institution. I'm sure the ppl working there aren't ppl who need her to save them >.>;;;

*sigh*

Angelwings Rating: 2 Bane-Batmen out of 5 Bat-Banemen
Recommendation: If you want a good laugh, you might want to check this issue out. XD There's a lot of rly unintentionally amusing stuff XDDD But for an actual Batman story, this isn't very good at all :(

Week of Mar 28, 2007 and Super Short Reviews!!! :3

Hi! :D

I is back :]

I bought way more comics than I intended to today :(

I rly should stop giving books 2nd and 3rd chances XD

In my defence, I wanted to give Jodi Picoult a chance before I completely throw away Wonder Woman; I wanted to see what Johns would do with the Sinestro Corps; somebody said that Catwoman would tie into Amazons Attack and hopefully improve; and Beechan implanted a mind controlling nanochip in my brain :(

So here's what I got :D

52 - #47
Action Comics - #847
Amazing Spiderman - #539
Batman - #664
Blue Beetle - #13
Catwoman - #65
Green Lantern - #18
Justice Society of America - #2
Justice Society of America - #3
Justice Society of America - #4
Robin - #160
Wonder Woman - #6

Yus, I finally hopped on the JSA bandwagon! I hope somebody saved me a seat >.>;;

I still need to find #1, but I have it on my computer thanks to JD, so I'm caught up :]

I missed #1, and that's why I've been so hesistant to start the series, even tho I know it's good :|

Neways, I think Green Lantern and Catwoman might have saved themselves from my drop list, but Robin and Wonder Woman are prolly done now. >.>;;

Also, so I dun spend more money, JSA is replacing JLA on my pull list :)

I'm actually considering dropping Batman too (*GASP*) b/c Morrison's run rly isn't impressing me D:

Here are my super short reviews! :]

52 - #47 - Kind of a blah issue :( Wth IS the point of Batwoman? Is she just another plot device to get Renee and Nightwing to fight Intergang or something? She's not a character, we know almost NOTHING about her (except she's Jewish and a lesbian). :\ Some interesting things ARE happening tho, and more stuff about Aminal Man! :] I spelt that funny on purpose btw :D Neways... with only 3 more issues before WW3 (aka the shortest World War EVAR), I'm surprised that there are still so many unfinished plotlines :O 3/5

Action Comics - #847 - Do Johns and Donner rly need that much time to write their arc? We've had delays, an Annual and now a filler issue!? :O This is a pointless filler issue, and given what we know of the Sun-Eaters in 52 (that they are animals and not just... some sort of phenomenon), did Superman KILL something?!? But maybe it was all a lie? Either way, it's a pointless issue :( I WANT MEH ZOD!!!! 2/5

Amazing Spiderman - #539 - Are Marvel's heroes even heroes nemore? So basically, after everything that's happened to Spiderman, THIS makes breaking his whole mantra of "with great power..." okay? However, the writing is pretty good. :) I just think that this whole "darkening" of the Marvelverse is a bad idea :( I can't blame a book for the direction of a company tho. :\ 3/5

Batman - #664 - Somebody needs to tell Morrison that the prose issue is over. >.>;; He's STILL doing the run-on similes! Is Batman still super dark and angry or.. not? And does he even CARE about his sekrit identity!? A lot of nothing happened in this story and I dun rly like stories like that :( 2/5

Blue Beetle - #13 - I completely completely completely am in love with this book! :O It's so wonderful I want to marry it! XD The characterization and dialogue is superb as usual, and what I rly rly like is that we know what the characters are thinking and feeling WITHOUT them having to TELL us. In this day and age of the Frank Miller self-narration box, that's rly a breath of fresh air :D 5/5

Catwoman - #65 - Murp. Somehow this issue managed to salvage a sub-par storyline. :O A robotic Lex Luthor that doesn't stop talking about how great he is will do that tho! :D Robo-Lex completely steals the show XD I wish he'd make more appearances! The Deus ex Machina to end the story tho had me scratching my head :( I re-read the dialogue again and again to see if I missed something, but I didn't, so I'm still confused :\ 3/5

Green Lantern - #18 - The second they made Cowgirl such a big part of Hal's life and then threw in Star Sapphire, I think we all knew what was going to happen :( Neways, not a lot happened in this story either! Also the art is weird. >.>;;; However, the back up story about the Sinestro Corps is super awesome! :D That completely made this book worthwhile :] 2.5/5

Justice Society of America - #2-#4 - It's hard for me to review 3 books seperately after I've read them back to back to back, so I'll review them together :) It's easy esp since none of them are esp bad compared to the rest or nething :] I rly like this story, I like the writing, I like the characterization and everything else :D In a way, if they brought the Multiverse back, this would make an excellent Earth-2 cuz I would love to see these heroes stand as the top heroes and not behind Batman, Superman, etc... :o And Vandal Savage on a world without Lex Luthor, The Joker, etc would be a standout villain :D Neways, it's super-awesome and I'm glad I'm reading them now :] 5/5

Robin - #160 - Uber-Robin is back! >.> Last issue, when Zoanne mentioned that her dad worked for a pharmaceutical company, I had a feeling that they would be involved in some crime and then Zoanne would be put in danger and Robin would have to save her. :O Can you guess which pharmaceutical company is involved in crime in this issue? XD I'm also getting rly tired of hearing Robin's thoughts on EVERYTHING in his inner monologues >.>;;; 1.5/5

Wonder Woman - #6 - Why is Wonder Woman portrayed as being completely clueless about life in America? She's only been living here for like 10 years XD Even without a sekrit identity, there's LOTS of evidence that she has interacted with our society before! And.. is she just gonna be fighting the same villain who does the same thing over and over again? e_e It's a rather convenient plot point too considering her "dilemma" in this issue. >.>;; 1.5/5

Neways, that's it for this week :D I STILL CAN'T FIND AMERICAN VIRGIN #12!!!!!! WHERE IS IT!??? >:O

*grrrs*

I'll be putting my in-depth reviews up soon hopefully :D

<3 Teh Ami :]

Detective Comics - #829 and #830 Reviews

Sunday Sidekick Special: Detective Comics #829 and #830

Synopsis: In Gotham, Bruce Wayne is hosting an anti-terrorism summit at Wayne Tower and the various delegates from the countries are bickering with each other. :o

Tim gets bored and leaves for a drink. He gets in the elevator but realizes once inside that something is wrong as he saw some weird goop sprayed on the wall :O He gets out and is about to warn security about it when various explosions are set off in the tower!

Tim finds one of Batman's many hidden closets in the building and changes into Robin. :o Bruce can't change into Batman himself b/c he's trapped in the room with the other delegates >.>;;

The terrorist broadcasts to the world and says that his name is Vox and he's making a statement b/c he wants the occupation of Jalib to end >.>;;

Vox sprays some goop on the wall and explodes it to prove his power :O

Bruce communicates with Robin, trying to help him find Vox. He uses the Wayne Tower speakers to broadcast as Batman, hoping to scare Vox. Robin then attacks Vox, injuring him, but Vox sprays Robin with some of the goop and runs off :O

--End Part 1--

Bruce instructs Robin to get to one of the hidden closets and find a blow torch. :o He says that the goop only explodes with an impact, not on heat, and that Robin has to cut his arm free so he can reach the charge that Vox put on him before it explodes! Robin manages to free himself and get rid of it :)

Bruce has finally had enuf, lets go a smoke bomb and changes into Batman. He pursues Vox and finds him before Vox can destroy the building. :o They fight, Vox flies out the window and rather than be saved by Batman he falls to his doom. The Gotham Police come in and gets rid of the explody goop >.>

Review: >.>;; I rly should stop getting these filler issues e_e Grotesk was horrible (and rly gross) and this story was just boring :\ I'm sure there was prolly something about terrorism that the author was trying to say, but it was completely lost. I'm also getting tired of seeing terrorism being in every other comic plot >.>;;

Terrorism is bad. We get it XD I also dunno why Bruce Wayne is hosting an anti-terrorism summit. I thought usually politicians did that? :o

I hope Tim was joking about getting a drink. Bruce DID say "don't make me lock you in the cave", so hopefully he wasn't going to let him drink? XD B/c Tim is what... 16? I dunno.. he looks newhere from 12 in Beechan's books to 25 in the Teen Titans xD But he's a TEEN right? So he shouldn't be allowed to drink in the States.

I rly dun have much to say about this story. It wasn't interesting, it wasn't creative, and Robin was being uber-Robin again >.>;; Also Batman showed WAYYY too much emotion. I know he cares about Tim, but he was rly losing it in part 1 :\ That's not Batman at all!

Also, I find it silly that Batman can't find a way to change into Batman when Manhunter can apparently change into her full coverage costume by just stepping into the shadows for 1 second. >.>;; Batman's proven that he can change into Batman whenever he wants, even if there's a giant crowd.

And he proves this when he finally gets tired of Robin's inability to stop Vox and sets off a smoke bomb in front of all the delegates. Like THAT'S not suspicious! XD

When I heard of this plot I thought it'd be actually quite interesting, that Batman would be unable to help (for better reasons than being in a crowd) and Robin was on his own in a building with terrorists inside :O

THAT would have been interesting, if there were many terrorists and Robin was forced to sneak around, figuring out how to disable them without alerting the rest and having to free hostages or something :D

It would have been a lot more interesting to read, esp maybe with Batman instructing him a bit too :O

Tho maybe I just play too many video games XDDD

Still, it's better than this one. :\

Also I'm getting tired of the endings where the bad guy dies but it's JUST enuf that it's not the hero's fault :\

Oh! The cover of the first book is hilarious btw XD Me and my sister had such a great laugh about it! :D Robin's covered in white goop! XDDD It's Robin bukkake! We said that it'd have been even better if they had Vox standing over him, with his back to us xDDDD

Mo well. >.>

Dini's back next week! :D Yay! :3

Angelwings Rating: 1.5/5 Voxes and 2/5 Explody Goops for each story :\
Recommendation: Not worth picking up at all :(

Checkmate #11 and #12 Reviews

Sunday Sidekick Special: Checkmate #11 and #12

Synopsis: Both of these issues make up the "Corvalho" arc, and since I didn't review the first one, I figured that the best way would be to review both at once :) Esp since the first one came out just 3 weeks ago :]

Neways, so here we go! :D

In Brazil, 20 years ago, we see a young Beatriz (Fire) practicing her gymnastics on a balance beam but she screws up the landing :O Her dad chastises her and tells her not to cry b/c she just needs to try again and that one day he knows she'll make him and their country proud. :]

In the present, a grown-up Fire helps her father, who is now in a wheelchair, with lunch, something he says is unnecessary. Her watch beeps and she says she has to go. Her father encourages her to go and save the world. :] She says she doesn't work with the Justice League nemore, but her father says that he knows that, he also knows that she still saves the world. :)

Fire (Black King's Knight) arrives at Checkmate and Taleb Beni Khalid (who holds the rank as the Black King) informs her that they have a situation in Santa Prisca. They just held elections and there's been evidence of tampering. One of the candidates was backed by Bane, and he has since declared martial law and moved his forces out. Fire immediately assumes that Bane manipulated the elections and now that he's been caught, he's using brute force. >.> However, it turns out that it's the opposite! Bane's candidate should have won legitimately by a wide margin, but he lost! o_o;;

The Thinker (White King's Bishop) reveals that they recieved a msg from Colonel Computron, who appears to be a floating head, who admits to having rigged the elections. He's in fear that Bane is looking for him, so he wants Checkmate to get him out and then he'll provide proof of what happened!

Checkmate agrees to help, and Tommy Jagger (White King's Knight) volunteers for the mission but is shut down by Mr. Terrific (the White King) b/c his father was Judomaster who was killed during Infinite Crisis by Bane and therefore he can't be trusted for the mission. >.>;;;

After the meating, Amanda Waller (the White Queen) sneaks off and communicates with her bishop: King Faraday. :o During the communication, we learn that she's behind getting Computron to rig the election as Bane's government was anti-American, and altho his rule has been good for the ppl of the country (getting rid of drugs, crime, instituing social programs, etc), it was bad for America. o_o;; She worries that if they get ahold of Computron, they'll discover that she was behind it, and so she decides to handle it herself.

Jagger continues to try to convince Mr. Terrific to go on the mission, but Mr. Terrific is adamant against it, saying that altho Bane may be a thug and a criminal, he's also cleaned the country up and is part of the legitimate government and that he can't have Jagger representing Checkmate (which is a UN sanctioned body) attack Bane out of revenge.

Sasha Bordeaux (Black Queen) and Mr. Terrific go to talk to Taleb about their suspicions about what's going on in Santa Prisca and how they suspect that Waller might be behind it b/c of events in previous issues where various acts have been committed by rogue supervillains (sekritly under the control of Amanda Waller) that have benefitted the USA. :o Taleb also has his suspicions and asks Mr. Terrific to get the Thinker to give him everything on the word "Corvalho".

Sasha then reveals that her knight has burst an appendix and can't go on the mission. :O B/c they dun trust Waller, they can't let her knight go either, that leaves Fire and Tommy Jagger, since Checkmate rules say that they MUST have 2 Knights.

Mr. Terrific talks to Tommy and tells him he has to go, but if he touches Bane, he's fired.

Tommy and Fire get to Santa Prisca via a Blackhawk submarine. On the way they talk about why Mr. Terrific didn't want Tommy to go on the mission. Tommy answers Fire by asking her how much she loves her father :O

They arrive on Santa Prisca and head towards the rendezvous with Colonel Computron.

Taleb meanwhile is asking his Bishop to read out all the connections that Thinker found for the word "Corvalho". After many unlikely leads, his bishop reads out the name of Colonel Ramon Caorvalho, an intelligence officer of unknown nationality who is suspected of being a key figure in Operation Condor. :O Taleb recognizes the significance of this and then realizes that he should never have sent Fire on the mission. :(

Fire goes inside a house to meet Computron and then promptly burns him to death!!!!!!!!!!! :O

--End Part 1--

Tommy comes in and sees the burnt skull of Computron! Fire says that she had no choice and that she was attacked! They prepare to flee but are attacked by Bane! Fire continues on with the evidence that Computron had.

Bane attacks Tommy but Tommy refuses to fight him, but is ultimately forced to disable him with some judo moves, but he doesn't kill him. :)

When Tommy reaches Fire, she's alrdy destroyed the rest of the evidence. :\

They get back to Checkmate, and Tommy accuses Fire of sabotaging the mission which gets her arrested and thrown in the brig where she confesses.

Amanda Waller talks to her sekritly.

Taleb suspects that Amanda holds something over Fire to keep her quiet, and he goes to talk to Fire's father in Brazil. He reveals that he knows that he's Colonel Corvalho, that he was responsible for the massacre that was Operation Condor, and that Fire is going to jail to protect him. Her father is surprisingly uncaring. :(

Taleb then talks to Fire, and persuades her to come clean. He says that somebody is going to go to jail ultimately, whether it be her or her father, but her father is a mass murderer while she is a hero and has proven it time and time again with the Global Guardians, the Justice League and now Checkmate :D

Ultimately, Fire turns her father in, and he's arrested while cursing out his daughter :(

Amanda Waller and Taleb play chess. Taleb beats her, but Waller says that it's not over yet and the last person to try to defy her (Alan Scott, the former White King) got removed from his post. :O Taleb just welcomes the challenge. :D

Review: :D I rly like Checkmate! It's just annoying to write up the synopsis b/c so much always happens and it's hard to keep track of the characters XD Luckily, every issue comes with a run down of who's who and what rank they hold at the beginning :] That's very useful ^-^

I'm glad that the ppl at Checkmate are finally figuring out that Amanda Waller's been using the organization for her own purposes :O Tho she's not exactly evil, she's just working in one country's best interests :|

And I guess that's why I like Checkmate :) It's not like other comic books, but it's still set in the DC superheroverse, so it's not JUST a spy story :] But it has a lot of shades of grey and it's very political :O I like how Bane isn't just shown as being a bad person and that he's actually helped the country, altho he also has anti-American policies :O I guess he's supposed to be like Hugo Chavez XD

I also like the diversity in Checkmate and how there are all sorts of races and genders working together. :] It's kinda like Star Trek actually :O Not in that they tackle ethical issues or nething, but that nothing matters except the job and your rank, so you have women and minorities (including gay ppl) in various positions and nobody cares :D

The revelation about Fire is interesting too, b/c it explains a lot about her. :o During the OMAC Project arc, she surprised Guy Gardner and Booster Gold with her investigative skills, and she's always been sort of an enigma. So I'm glad we learn more about her here and what sekrit she was hiding :O

I feel bad for her for having to give up her father tho :( But Taleb was right, somebody was gonna have to go to jail, and her father DID do something wrong and seemed to have no problem letting his daughter go down for it :(

I'm glad that Bane is getting redeemed a bit tho, b/c he was a good guy and a friend of Batman's actually until he resurfaced in Infinite Crisis to inexplicably work for the villains :O They added line to the Infinite Crisis TPB where he says he knows who he is now and he breaks ppl, but it seems very forced :( It's like Doomsday suddenly showing up again in Infinite Crisis >.>;;

The Tommy and Bane stuff was a bit anti-climactic, esp since Tommy beat Bane so easily when Batman and Bane fight to a draw constantly :O Also since there wasn't rly a lot explaining why Tommy decided not to fight Bane except maybe b/c he was ordered not to? :O At least he follows orders :D

I find it cute that Bane still wears his mask even when he's a part of a legitimate government now XD

The ending was good too as we finally see somebody who's willing to stand up to Waller and take charge of the anti-Waller ppls :) Taleb hasn't rly gotten a lot of character development over the course of the series so far and it's nice to finally see some in him :D I also like how he's a bit old fashioned where he prefers to use cards and a bullitin board to organize information rather than a computer ^-^

Neways, the future of this series is definitely gonna be even more interesting now! :D

Angelwings Rating: (for both) 5 Sekrit Plots out of 5 Even more Sekrit Plots :D
Recommendation: This arc is very worth reading and it gives you a feel for all the intrigue that's been going on in the series :D

Superman - #660 Review

Superman - #660

Synopsis: A man walks into a joke shop in Metropolis and tells the girl at the counter that he's there to see his uncle. :O She asks for the password, and he carefully steps away from what he percieves to be a trap door before answering. The floor opens beneath him regardless and he falls!

The Prankster wakes up, gets dressed and then greets the man who is now tied up in ropes from falling :o The man is a henchman for a new villain and takes Prankster out back to meet him. The guy is a white "gangsta" named Nitro G and he has the ability to create explosive fireballs from his body. :O He proves this by blowing up the car of one of Prankster's assistants. :(

He wants Prankster to create a distraction that will allow him to rob a bank so he can fund his criminal activities (as Superman chased most of his gang away alrdy). The Prankster agrees, taking 10% off the fee for a chance at pranking Superman. :D

Prankster goes back to his lair and organizes his assistants. On the day the bank robbery is to take place, the Metropolis marathon is happening as well! The Prankster arranges for hundreds of soggy banana peels to be flushed onto the streets as the runners run by, causing mayhem!

The Prankster himself flies by in a little floating bubble to get the attention of the cops and sprays them with water from giant flowers coming from his bubble! Superman shows up but his attempt to stop Prankster is thwarted when Prankster's bubble electrocutes him! Superman is ready to try again but Prankster points out that he didn't spurt water at the cops but glue and Superman must hurry to save them before the glue dries!

In the meantime, Nitro G successfully robs the bank of 4 million dollars, spewing curses all the while, something that Prankster doesn't approve of as he likes style and charm over Nitro G's crassness. However, Prankster did get paid, so he ignores it as best he can. >.>

Next morning, Prankster is woken up before the sun even rises by the same henchman who says that Nitro G wants to see him again. Prankster talks to Nitro G again and Nitro G wants to have guns that shoot the glue that Prankster used earlier! He refuses saying that he's an artist, not an armourer, but Nitro G makes threats and the Prankster appears to cave in, agreeing to help Nitro G rob another bank and outfit his goons with weaponry. :\

On the day of the next heist, the Prankster arranges for thousands of 100 dollar bills to be dropped outside the Daily Planet. However, these are fake bills and serve not only to cause chaos, but also contain a message to Superman sending him on a wild goose chase :)

Nitro G robs the bank in the meantime, but his guards keeping watch outside are knocked out by gloves coming out of floating clocks! :O A giant penny blocks the exit, preventing escape! The Prankster then lowers himself from a platform hidden in the ceiling of the bank and mocks Nitro G, who he's discovered is no "gangsta" but a suburban kid who wants a thrill.

Nitro G's men try to shoot the Prankster but their weapons backfire and only spell out the words "You've Been Pranked" when fired! :D

Nitro G lights his hands on fire threatening to burn Prankster, but as Prankster planned, the sprinklers come on when the heat from his hands are detected! More than that, the Prankster has added a chemical to the water that soaks up the Nitroglycerin on Nitro G's skin and he is now coated in dynamite! Altho Nitro G is immune to his own power, he's not immune to the explosion that would be caused when the dynamite is ignited! O_O;;;

For added fun, Prankster puts a fuse on Nitro G! Superman then shows up as Prankser had planned and rips the fuse out, but he discovers that the fuse is just a dummy and that by pulling it out he's ignited the real fuse underneath! Superman flies Nitro G into the air and quickly rips off the rest of the dynamite as they fly! He lands with a naked Nitro G who is now the laughing stock of the city! Nitro G begs for Superman to take him to jail XD

Superman searches for Prankster in the crowd, but cannot find him as the villain has disguised himself with a special projector. :D

Back in his lair, the Prankster watches Superman on TV giving an interview saying that he's still looking to apprehend the Prankster. :O The Prankster then tells us why he loves to prank Superman, that beyond wanting to match himself with the best, it's that Superman gives him free advertising by talking about wanting to catch him to the media. :D As if on cue, his assistants inform him that he has another job offer :D

Review: *claps* I rly liked this issue! :D It was fun and was a good break from the heavy-handed "Camelot Falls" stuff of late :D

Also, it gives new life to the character of the Prankster, who was always a bit of a hard character to involve in the Superman universe :O How interesting is a character who just pranks Superman after all? XD

Well it turns out he can be very interesting! :D I think making him a "distraction for hire" is a great use of the character and makes him relevent to the Superman-verse. :D It's something he LIKES doing (pranks), it allows him to use his intelligence to come up with new and clever ways to keep Superman distracted AND it gives him a reason to do it, since he gets paid to :] Also since he's not out to do harm HIMSELF, it's okay if he gets away with it :D

It's all fun and games with the Prankster :D And I kinda like that b/c Superman's not Batman, and he doesn't need psychopathic murderous villains, and given his vast array of powers, it wouldn't work out very well for him to have Batman type adventures neways xD

I rly like the idea of somebody who just likes to have fun with Superman to see if he can get away with it XD

I also like how Prankster is also more complex than just "good vs evil" and like a non-homicidal Joker, he cares about style and charm and showmanship :D He reveals that he has the power to access the bank whenever he wants, but he chooses not to b/c it's not his style :]

In contrast, Nitro G has absolutely no style, and the story also seems to be a metaphor for styles of storytelling and entertainment, saying that just pure visceral action isn't as effective or as interesting as style and charm :D

Which is also what this story has in spades :D No big fights, no huge explosions, no T&A of ANY sort (all of Prankster's assistants are fully clothed, well dressed ladies :] ), but yet it's a rly fun and charming story that has a good flow and has us feeling good at the end even tho the villain got away :D

Obviously these types of one-shots can't ALWAYS be the norm in comics, but they are a welcome break from non-stop serious story arcs :D

Also it's nice to see things from the villain's point of view sometimes :3

Neways, there's nothing I dislike about the story rly, I just rly enjoyed everything about it :D

Angelwings Rating: 5 Pranksters out of 5
Recommendation: Highly recommended to everybody :] Esp to ppl who like fun and happy comics :D

JLA Classified - #36 Review

JLA Classified - #36

Synopsis: In the first reality, Red King continues to be a hero and has now become more popular than the rest of the Justice League :O Plastic Man has become his #1 fan, and the rest of the League feels that if it wasn't for his affection for Wonder Woman, he'd prolly just leave them behind :O

Superman feels nervous around somebody more powerful than him and J'onn says that he can't read his mind b/c he has mental shields :O

Red King reveals himself to be Darrin Profitt to Wonder Woman, who is overjoyed that his secret identity is of a philanthropist that she respects, and they kiss. O_O;;

Back in Gotham, Batman returns Killer Moth to his cell but discovers that John Dee (Dr. Destiny) is muttering Red King's name over and over and over again. Batman finds this suspicious and questions him. :o

In the hub world between dimensions, the Red King from the now destroyed third reality (where he killed all of the Justice League) is bored and being served wine by the masked Fallback. Fallback speaks of a fourth parallel but Red King ignores him and wonders what happened in the 2nd reality.

In the 2nd reality, Earth has been destroyed but it's biosphere has been successfully saved and put on Mars. To the Justice League's surprise, Batman has managed to survive the destruction of Earth and arrives with Darrin Profitt and his second in command, Falon, in tow. :O

Batman explains to them that he escaped by blowing up a bunch of Thanagarian charges that were laid during the last invasion in order to allow the Watchtower to beam him to the moon, where he grabbed a ship before the moon was destroyed O_O;;;

He goes on to explain what's going on with the various Red Kings and how he has the crystal that allows access to the hub world. However, only one of the JL can go thru and that they have to hurry before the other Kings realize that something is up and destroy their reality. :O

Superman doesn't like the idea of sacrificing this reality to save another reality, and flies off, but Green Lantern convinces him otherwise and he agrees. Batman opens the portal but the Red King in the Hub World sees the Justice League and realizes that the heroes won. He destroys that reality, but Green Lantern is able to keep the portal open long enuf for Flash to send Plastic Man thru at top speed! :O

Fallback is shocked that the Red King was willing to destroy a dimension with another Red King still in it and tries to stop him, but Red King blasts him! Plastic Man manages to sneak thru without being seen, and Dr. Destiny (who is still imprisoned in the hub world) talks to him and tells him to keep hidden and watch. :)

The Red King unmasks Fallback expecting to see Falon but instead sees another Darrin Profitt. :O He's the "back up" from the Fourth Parallel where everything is normal and Darrin Profitt is still a loser and not the Red King. It exists as a "reset button" in case things go horribly wrong. XD

The Red King doesn't want to go back to that life and he destroys the Fourth Parallel and snaps Fallback's neck! He then opens up the portal to the first reality and enters.

Dr. Destiny tells Plastic Man that he's in communication with the Batman from that reality and that he has a plan. Plastic Man doesn't believe him, and Dr. Destiny tells him that despite his criticisms of him, Batman respects Plastic Man and truly believes that he deserves a spot on the Justice League. :) This seems to make Plastic Man believe that Destiny is talking to Batman.

In the first reality, Dee and Batman talk to the Justice League about what's going on and they devise a plan to stop the Red King.

The hero Red King arrives at Profitt industries to see Falon who warns him that the Justice League knows of him! Falon turns out to be J'onn in disguise who hits him!

The Justice League attacks him but he appears rdy for them!

The evil Red King now shows up and he's angry that people aren't scared of him in this reality. :(

The hero Red King defeats J'onn and Green Lantern, but then the evil Red King appears! They bicker and the evil Red King wants the hero Red King to merge with him but the hero Red King refuses, as he likes being a hero! :D

The evil Red King forces him to merge, and the hero Red King drops his mind shields and tells J'onn to read his thoughts to gain information on how to defeat the evil Red King! He then gets absorbed :(

The evil Red King is now the only one left and prepares to fight the Justice League once more, but Batman goads him into fighting them in the Watchtower on the moon so that he wun destroy the Earth fighting the Justice League once more and that he'll still have a world to dominate. :o

On the moon, the Red King appears to be winning, but Batman shows up with John Dee and reveals that he knows how the Red King was defeated in the second reality by the bomb that blew up Earth. :O The Justice League then unveil a replica of the bomb which they activate and will destroy the moon and the Red King with the Justice League in 60 seconds!

Red King readies to leave, but Superman says that altho the Red King was designed to defeat the Justice League in the long run, he can't defeat them within 60 seconds where all they have to do is fight him to a stalemate for a minute :O

Diana stands in Red King's way and he prepares to kill her but he can't b/c the Red King he absorbed had feelings for her and now he does too! :O J'onn uses his telepathy to push all of the heroic Red King's feelings to the surface, stopping the Red King from fighting back!

Diana takes this chance to take the Red King's dimensional portal crystal. As the countdown reaches 0, the Red King begs for them to let him go, but the bomb turns out to be the other Plastic Man in disguise! The dummy bomb distracts the Red King enuf for Wonder Woman to open up the portal and Superman to punch the Red King back into the hub world! Diana then crushes the crystal in her hand, sealing the Red King in the hub world :D

With all the crystals now destroyed, the Materioptikon reassembles itself and John Dee returns to his dream form in the hub world, assuring Batman that the Red King will get everything coming to him. >:D

In the hub world, the Red King tries to find a way out, but Dr. Destiny appears, now free from his prison and having infinite powers in the dream world with which to torture the Red King with!!!!

The two Plastic Mans (Plastic Men? XD) merge into one, and he retains all the memories of the Earth being destroyed. :| He says that he wants to keep them b/c it will serve as a reminder as to what the stakes are and what the Justice League has to lose if they fail. :]

Review: *huff puff* That was a lot of story :O

It was a great story tho! And rly fun! :D

After the last issue, my sister and I came up with seperate predictions for what would happen in this issue. :O

My sister said that the Batman of the explody Earth survived and questions Profitt, finding the way to enter the hub world. :O

I said that the heroic Red King would find that he likes being good and would fight the evil Red King!

It turns out we're both right! :D Altho neither of us were right that this would be the direct way that Red King would be defeated :O But they both indirectly led to the defeat of the evil King :D

I rly liked thie issue, it was fun, and had a lot of stuff happen but didn't seem rushed! :] Also it had Plastic Man as the hero without having him be too goofy and Dr. Destiny also helped out!

I always like when villains help the heroes, and in this story TWO villains helped the heroes :D

Fallback and the 4th Parallel was a real swerve tho :O B/c it seemed like the 4th parallel was a perfect excuse to have everything go back to the way it was at the end, but they didn't use it :D Poor Fallback tho :(

I didn't rly like the Wonder Woman/Red King romance tho :( I didn't like it when it was hinted at in the previous issue with this reality, and I dun like it now, b/c it's going with the whole "women superheroes are still silly little girls inside just looking for a strong man to fall in love with" thing :(

And also that her role in the whole plan was to be the girl that Red King couldn't kill b/c he was in love with her. >.>;; It seems a little blah for Wonder Woman.

Still, the other Leaguers did even less :O Flash and John Stewart did nothing and J'onn had only a cursory role as did Superman who just punched Red King into the portal. o_o

The ppl who rly beat the Red King were Dr. Destiny, the good Red King, Batman and Plastic Man. :O And I think what I rly liked about the story is that it was some very unusual ppl who teamed up to beat him! :D

I also like how the Justice League tried a different approach when they learnt that they couldn't beat the King head on. :) It reminds me of the Star Trek: TNG episode "Peak Performance", where in a sub-plot, Data goes head to head in a strategy game against this super smart alien and loses. :O In his rematch, Data doesn't try to win but instead tries to play to a stalemate, keeping the alien frustrated until he gives up :D

I always like when ppl realize there are other ways to go about solving problems and that even if they can't beat the King in a straight fight, they can still fight him to a draw for 60 seconds :D

And I liked how scared the King was about dying! That's the problem when all you care about is yourself, b/c then dying is the worst thing that can happen to you :O

I also noticed something :O Many members of the Justice League got new costumes on Mars (prolly for environmental reasons), including Wonder Woman. :O

I like this costume and I think that it's not a bad idea if she ever wanted to go with a full coverage suit :D Maybe with some changes to break up the red, but I still rly like it! :D

Neways, this was a fun and rly well written and plotted issue and it caps off what was a great overall story arc :D And as a girl that loves happy endings, I rly liked that the good guys won and that the evil Red King who killed the Justice League in such a brutal fashion last issue got what was coming to him :D

Angelwings Rating: 5 Good Red Kings out of 5 Evil Red Kings
Recommendation: Rly fun read, even if you haven't gotten the other ones :) But picking up the whole arc is recommended! :D

Martian Manhunter - #8 (of 8) Review

Martian Manhunter - #8 (of 8)

Synopsis: Martian Manhunter realizes to his shock that the man in charge of the experiments is human and that he wasn't forced to do experiments on the Green martians, now revealed to be White martians in disguise :O

J'onn is angry but the man says that he has no proof of nething, but then the woman who was working for him shows up and says that she has the proof. :O In desperation, the man tries to shoot himself but J'onn stops him. :O

Three days later, he and Superman talk about the Daily Planet, and J'onn says that he suspects that a Green Martian was behind this all along and has been hiding on Earth all this time.

He goes to talk to Sara and tells her that he has to go find Till'All, the remaining White Martian. Sara kisses him and tells him she hopes he finds what he's looking for. :O

J'onn waits in the open hoping for Till'All to find him, and he does :O J'onn reasons with Till'All and gets him to agree to work together to find the Green Martian behind all this. :) Till'All allows J'onn to scan his mind. While scanning, Till'All falls unconscious and J'onn looks up and sees Sara who is the Green Martian in disguise!

She reveals herself to be Cay'An, and she blames J'onn for the death of the Green Martian race b/c it was J'onn's brother who created the plague that destroyed them :O

They fight to an apparent stalemate.

Afterwards, a newspaper headline informs us that the project has been exposed and that the head person has been indicted. :O

J'onn takes Till'All to see the Justice League. Till'All says he'll Cay'An when he finds her, but J'onn says he wun let him b/c killing her will solve nothing. :)

He introduces him to Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman and gives him Chocos to eat :D

Review: Kk, since Marr Vell asked for it, here's my Martian Manhunter #8 review :D

I was kinda confused by some of the story b/c it seemed like the writer ran out of pages or something :( I wasn't sure what exactly happened at the end of the J'onn vs Cay'An fight. :( They just did a double fireball thing like in Dragon Ball Z, and then.. the next page J'onn was okay and everything was fine, but Cay'An is apparently still out there? :O

So I dunno :O

Also, I was confused if J'onn actually saved the man at the beginning or not, b/c there was still blood coming from his head from the gunshot! :O But, apparently he saved him? :o

Sara being the Martian was rly obvious :( And I dun rly know why we needed 8 issues to get to this point. She was introduced out of the blue and conveniently became an important part of J'onn's life, and when she wasn't killed, I *knew* that she was the villain. >.>;; It's sad that the Women in Refrigerators thing has become so prolific that when a female character is introduced out of the blue and is not killed, we start getting suspicious. :\

I'm still sorta confused about what happened, tho I think what happened was that Cay'An manipulated the White Martians into believing that they were Green Martians in order to test J'onn and see if he cares about his own ppl? :o

I'm not sure how I feel about Cay'An's appearance b/c it's kinda like J'onn's red X on his old costume, but that's.. all there is. >.>;;

And considering J'onn's new costume is fully covering him, why is she wearing so little? :o I dunno... it always seems like Aliens are okay to run around naked XD

Is Till'All going to be Miss Martian now? :o We know that she's a White Martian and friends of J'onn, and unless J'onn has another White Martian friend? :o

I'm glad that they became friends tho! I never rly like the "one race is inherently evil" idea :(

However, I still liked this story for the most part, esp since the previous issues have been so blah. :( And I'm glad that J'onn isn't all anti-human nemore and that he's nice again :D

I wish he'd go back to his old look tho :( I just didn't think there was a need for a change :O

There's also a spelling error in the issue that my friend Elena pointed out :o J'onn says "Cain and Able" and it should be ABEL. :O But this series has been rife with spelling and grammatical errors :(

Also, the art at the end was rly.. odd o_o;;;

What's wrong with Superman!?

Tho I'm amused that Batman is so well endowed :O His briefs are also missing, I guess they rly help to keep it all in!!! XDDD You can sorta see an outline for Batman's different colour patterns actually, but it's BARELY there >.>;;;

Superman's still flat like a Ken doll tho :O But maybe it's cuz he looks so odd!!!

Neways, this was a pretty good conclusion to a storyline that hasn't rly entertained me :| But I'm glad that J'onn made friends with a White Martian at the end and the little bit about Chocos at the end was cute too! :D

Angelwings Rating: 3.5 Chocos out of 5 White Martians :D
Recommendation: If you've been following the series, it's worth picking up :)

52 - #46 Review

52- #46

Synopsis: On Oolong Island, the scientists are working towards stopping Black Adam but nothing they do seems to stop him. :O Meanwhile, Professor Morrow is too busy on ebay bidding on the artpiece made out of Red Tornado to help >.>

Dr. Hale (the female scientist), talks to Dr. Magnus about how they summoned demons into the world (the four horsemen) and how they're getting what they deserve and that the final crisis is coming and humanity is going to come to an end. :O This makes her horny apparently and she jumps Magnus :O

She apologizes shortly after, grabs a gun and opens the blast doors, going out to meet Black Adam, expecting to die, but Black Adam ignores her :O She walks off in dispair :O

A young genius named I.Q. rallies the other scientists together to stand up to Black Adam whom he likens to a schoolyard bully >.> Together, they use their combined gadgets to defeat Black Adam. Morrow joins in, taking a short break from ebay to open up a tesseract in Black Adam's brain. :O

They defeat Adam and drag him off in triumph and Morrow wins the bidding o_o

In Metropolis, Luthor is taken into custody by the police with Steel and Natasha (who now has her own Steel suit) observing. However, Clark Kent senses that something is wrong and leads Steel and the cops into Lexcorp. :O They find Lex Luthor eating a sammich behind the a lead door. He claims ignorance, and says he doesn't know that today was his arraignment, blaming his lawyers :o

Fake Luthor turns out to be Everyman, who Natasha knocks out. :D

In Biyala, the Justice Society try looking for survivors but find NOBODY. They talk about how they need to train the new generation of heroes to be more responsible. Atom Smasher shows up and asks to rejoin the JSA and that he'll help them from Black Adam O_O;;;

Review: :O Very crazy! I find it odd that Dr. Hale would suddenly get a main role. :\ I rly wished they gave us more of her character so we knew exactly what was going on and why she did what she did. :( As far as I can tell, I guess she was feeling guilty? :O

Not much else happened on the Oolong front except that they beat Black Adam :O Poor Adam! I wonder what they'll do to him now :\ And why did Adam ignore her? It doesn't make sense :( It's not like he doesn't allow himself to kill women or nething!

I'm guessing the JSA might free Black Adam? :O

The Luthor thing was weird o_o They actually let Luthor free? He's a total flight risk! And I find it odd that the best he could come up with was using Everyman as a decoy XD This is Luthor :O

I like that Superman is being useful without powers tho! And I also like that Natasha got a new suit :D And it has the Superman S on it! :D

Next issue promises to be good tho and show Batwoman! I hope we learn SOMETHING about her. :O I hope she doesn't die, tho DC did say that she continues after 52 o_o

Neways, not that much happened this issue, which I guess is going to start becoming the norm as 52 winds down and we focus only on a few plotlines :O

Angelwings Review: 4 Black Adams out of 5 Scientists :O
Recommendation: Another good issue, but not as deep in plot as some of the others :( Still interesting to read tho :D

Supergirl - #15 Review

Supergirl - #15

Synopsis: Supergirl and Powerboy make out above Captain Boomerang's hospital room. e_e

Boomer wakes up and Supergirl goes to talk to him. Powerboy gets jealous and beats her up >.>

At the stone henge, mysterious villain #2164-A summons Felix Faust for something involving Supergirl.

Supergirl wakes up in power dampening bracelets in Powerboy's stalker room. >.>;;

Powerboy says that he wants to make Supergirl perfect for him. >.<;;

He explains that he's from Apokolips and he followed Supergirl back to Earth b/c he fell in love with her.

Supergirl breaks free and beats him up.

Powerboy flies into space and Supergirl follows and kicks him in the balls. She interrupts his fatherbox and it threatens to explode o_o She throws it into a red sun and it explodes before it reaches the sun. She wakes up alone next to a red sun.

Review: What shocks me about Supergirl is how SO LITTLE HAPPENS in every issue. >:| It's usually like "Kara makes out with somebody" and then "there's a fight, Kara loses, then she wins" and some sort of angsty ending where she's alone or hurt or something XD

I KNEW this was going to be an abusive relationship and that it was gonna end with Kara beating up Powerboy. :\ That's what a lot of men seem to think is female empowerment, overpowering the guy and kicking him in the balls. Violence against women can only be countered by more violence :(

Not that violence isn't necessary, esp to defend yourself! But it's just rly simplistic :(

I grew up in a house where my dad abused my mom :( For 10 years of my life, and it got worse and worse until he died. :\ It's not as simple as just "*whack*, I love you" or that she just needs to kick him in the balls :(

Also, having been in an abusive (but not physically, thankfully :]) relationship myself, I know that this isn't a "things are great, and then he slaps you around" thing :\ Not usually. That's just how it is on TV. Usually there's signs, and it's alrdy very oppressive for a while. And slowly it gets worse and worse and worse. And it's hard to get out.

I dunno... I think having Supergirl stand up to him emotionally while he's trying to subtly break her down would mean a lot more, THEN you could have the fight, and it would mean more. Being hit by a guy, even a guy she likes, as a superhero, means a fight. Esp with Kara. :\ It doesn't show her standing up at all, b/c up until Powerboy out of the blue hit her, he was super nice, completely. And she didn't seem to care about him outside of making out.

But all the dialogue of "stop making me hit you" and stuff like that, clearly indicates that Kelly is thinking to himself "abusive relationship, I'm so clever! The women will love me and hail me as the greatest male feminist evar!"

*sighs*

But regardless of that little gimmick, this issue is the same as all the other issues. No character development for Kara. Another throwaway villain we prolly wun hear about again. >.>

And a fight that goes "Kara loses, then she gets mad and wins thru brute force".

I want Waid's Supergirl :(

Since Fatherbox did some temporal explosion thing, maybe this is when Kara goes to the future? :O

I'm tired of the nearly naked Supergirl all the time btw. :\ Esp the way Churchill draws her. e_e

Neways. I'm holding out that either Kelly will be taken off this series, or that Sable will give us a breath of fresh air and introduce something that Kelly will continue :)

And can we plz change the costume a little? :\ Esp if the character is changing? :D It's not like costume changes are blasphemy for Supergirl or nething. She's prolly changed more costumes than any character in the DCU XD

I like the shoulder cape btw :] Keep that :D

Angelwings Review: 1.5 Kara beating ppl up out of 5 Kara beating ppl up
Recommendation: Rly not worth the money :\ You get so little story for a whole book, and it's not even good art or writing :(

Birds of Prey - #104 Review

Birds of Prey - #104

Synopsis: A mysterious woman walks up a tower in Russia while Oracle thinks about a Russian fairy tale about starcrossed lovers who killed themselves. :O

We go back to 2 days before where Oracle thinks about how the team has changed. :| Canary's joined the JLA, Spy Smasher's now forced herself onto the team and Misfit is still tagging along, while nebody likes it or not :O

On the plane, Huntress notices that Big Barda is shot :O Barda forgot she was shot b/c she doesn't rly feel the bullets very much and treats it all very calmly, asking for some pliers and a knife to take out the bullets O_O;;;

Oracle tells Huntress about Spy Smasher while Barda pulls the bullets out and gives them to Misfit who is thoroughly icked XD

Barda and Huntress are then sent to a former Soviet country and attend a ball. :o Lots of shady ex-Soviet characters are there including the host who is very corrupt and wants to bring communism back! o.o

Catman and Huntress make up.

Scandal Savage, however, wasn't in the car and chases the birds on a motorbike, promising to get revenge on the heroes that hit her girlfriend, Knockout. :D

The Birds realize that there's somebody in the suit and take it off to reveal former Justice Leaguer Ice who is supposed to be dead!!! :OOOO

Review: :O Lots happening! :D I like the inclusion of the Secret Six b/c they're on of my favourite groups right now and I rly like the interaction of the characters :D Also I find Scandal and Knockout's relationship rly sweet :D

Catman's lick was so funny! ^-^ And cute :D I liked it. Awwwwww. :] If Helena doesn't want him, I'll take him! :3

Is that rly Ice? :O It would be a coup to have Ice come back and join the new Birds. Fire would have to be there too tho :O And maybe Guy Gardner would get a guest appearance! Guy and Ice were cute together :]

But that's only if that's rly Ice >.>;;; It's like Beetle coming back in Manhunter :( Are they RLY back or is it just to sell books? :\

This makes me also wonder about something. :o Did Black Canary leave the team just b/c Meltzer wanted her on the JLA roster? B/c I always thought it was odd that she'd leave to take care of Sin, and then she turns around and joins the Justice League. >:|

Poor Gail, if it's true that this is a Meltzer > Simone heirarchy thing :(

Oh... yus... Barda's missing chestplate is still rly glaring :|

I dun mind it rly (tho I still liked it better WITH it, why does every girl have to show her breasts? :( ), BUT, I think just 1 line of dialogue (maybe in a funny way) would help put our minds at ease? :D

It's like when a character just pops in at the right moment to save the day. It makes it easier to swallow if they say "Oh I was nearby buying shoes" or "you were gone too long, I worried", rather than nothing at all and it looks RLY Deus Ex. :\

Given how snarky Helena is with Barda, maybe she could mention that she's missing a chestplate and then Barda can give some fun answer back? :D At least, to show that the characters NOTICE the costume change, and it doesn't seem like pure cheesecake. :D

Just my suggestion :]

Everything about this book was good tho :D I like how Spy Smasher isn't being a total Mary Sue, and ppl are getting their verbal shots in on her :3 And I like how Oracle still runs things. I was worried that Spy Smasher would just end up lording over everybody :(

We need more Misfit!!!!!!!!!!! :D

We do :]

The dialogue again is just great :D Dialogue is one thing Simone does rly well, and it's why I love reading her books, even when the plot isn't all that good. :\ In this case the plot is good too! :D So it's win/win! ^_^

I think this is my favourite bit of dialogue tho :D

Oracle: Beautiful work Hawkgirl.
Hawkgirl: Hated to do it, in a way. That was a sweet-ass sportscar.
Oracle: You help get the team back home safely and there'll be one in your driveway waiting for you.
Hawkgirl: Ha ha ha! Wait, really?
Oracle: It comes in cranberry, indigo, crimson sunset and frost.
Hawkgirl: Anything but Frost. And may I say I rather like how you do business, Oracle?

XDDDD

:D

Such lurve :3

Batman should use similar incentives XD It'd make up for the fact that nobody likes working with Batman XD

If Ice can come back to life tho... I would LUFF to see Stephanie Brown come back to life and join the Birds :D Yay!!!! Too bad that prolly will never happen :( And if she did, she'd become super popular and then Meltzer would take her for the JLA. >.>;;; And then Turner would shove cantalopes under her shirt. XDDDD

Neways, I rly liked this issue :] A LOT :D Yay!

Angelwings Review: 5 Cars out of 5 Hawkgirls!
Recommendation: A great issue to start if you're interested in this series :D Recommended to all!

Week of Mar 21, 2007 Super Short Reviews :]

Hi! :D I'm back! In more ways than one actually :(

I was put on thyroid medication about 7 weeks ago, and the side effects completely wiped me out :( They started 3 weeks in and progressed until I stopped taking them a week and a bit ago >:| However, it takes 3 weeks to leave my system, and my mood just died. :( I got rly depressed last week, completely listless and suicidal too :( It was awful!!!! D:

However, I'm improving now :) I have most of my happy back :D

That's why there were not many reviews :(

Sorries ;-;

Neways, today I got:

52 - #46
Birds of Prey - #104
The Brave and the Bold - #2
Checkmate - #12
Detective Comics - #830
Ion - #12 (of 12)
Supergirl - #15

Hmm.. Yus, I got Supergirl >.>;;

I officially dropped Batman Confidential this week tho :O I just rly am not enjoying that book, and the art is just awful :\ Nightwing is prolly getting dropped too :O

Also Green Lantern, Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Robin and the Teen Titans once Beechan's run starts might be possible drops. >.>;;

The reason isn't that I rly hate those comics (altho there is that too XD) but also that my money situation is becoming a little more tight, and I rly can't afford to spend so much money on comics every week :(

Here are the super short reviews! :D

52 - #46 - Exciting! :D Lots of super-geniuses vs. Black Adam stuff :O The ending is not what you'd expect :| But we're only 4 issues away from WW3. What happened to Batwoman (who still has no character XD) and Booster Gold? :O 4/5 Angelwings :)

Birds of Prey - #104 - One of the best issues of this series I've read recently :D I greatly enjoyed this one, and the inclusion of the Secret Six makes things more fun :D The ending is interesting tho! :O Are they rly bringing another long dead character back? :O 5/5 Angelwings

The Brave and the Bold - #2 - Waid needs to write Supergirl ALWAYS. :D Clearly, he's decided to ignore Kelly's Supergirl and just write the Kara that's in his Legion series :D I also rly like how this plot is shaping up with all the heroes pairing up and then getting split up, and then meeting new heroes to team up with :3 Plus Supergirl is super cute and helpful! This is a Supergirl I can like :D Also lots of panty shots of her tho :O However, I think that's better than what Churchill does which is NEVER show a hint of underwear on her, almost like she doesn't wear any o_o 4/5 Angelwings

Checkmate - #12 - The plot thickens! I rly liked this issue and that sides are now being drawn in Checkmate. :) As well we finally get an "anti-Waller" to oppose Amanda Waller :D A great story with excellent characterization of Fire :] 5/5 Angelwings

Detective Comics - #830 - These filler stories aren't very good XD This is another story involving "uber-Robin" (as Lostintube put it) where Robin is super good at everything and Batman is always super nice to him. >.>;; I dun rly know what the point of this story was other than "terrorism = bad". >.> 2/5

Ion - #12 (of 12) - Poor Kyle :( I feel rly bad for him :\ His friendship with Donna grows tho, and I rly like seeing those two together :D Awwwwwww :] Sadly, this is the end of the series, but there's no resolution. We rly dun learn much about what's going on with the Monitors or what the Guardians are keeping from the Lanterns :( I was hoping to learn SOMETHING! B/c of that, this story is a bit of a dissapointment :\ Ion went on some adventures, but ultimately we're back where we started, mostly. 2.5/5

Supergirl - #15 - I predicted at the end of #14 what would happen. :\ And I was right :( It's a very simple, very cliched take on an abusive relationship, complete with typical Supergirl ending. >.>;;; However, Churchill is finally forced to draw panties on Supergirl, proving that she DOES wear something down there >.<;;; And then he draws this. e_e It's strange that that's actually the least thin she's been, yet she looks rly wrong :\ Joel, some help? :] 1.5/5

Neways that's about it. :O

I'll put up the super short reviews soon! :D Hopefully I'll have time this week to put up back reviews too! :D

Take care! :D

Teen Titans - #44 Review

Teen Titans - #44

Synopsis: Ravager and Jericho see the New York Titans Tower and are concerned :O They investigate and meet Slade who says what he's about to do to them is out of love o_o

The siblings attack their evil father!

Wonder Girl wakes up in a room made to look like the Fortress of Solitude. :O She sees a person who looks like Superboy but turns out to be Match, the Bizarro clone! :O He beats her up e_e

Kid Devil wakes up tied to a wooden cross. :O Kid Crusader casts a spell which removes Devil's devil powers and appearance :O However, he says that the spell is temporary and he has to kill Kid Devil now o_o

Batgirl seductively (!?) crawls up to Robin who is telling her she's drugged >.> She prepares to inject Robin with the crazy serum. XD

Slade beats up his children. >.>;;;

Batgirl attacks Ravager and gets beaten up for her troubles o_o

Jericho plunges a sword thru Deathstroke's chest :O

Batgirl and Ravager keep fighting with lots of crappy dialogue being thrown about :\

Raven is trapped in a room of mirrors where Riddler's and Joker's daughters mock her driving her crazy o_O They attempt to draw the evil crazy side out of her >.> (Why is it always the girl characters that have these angst evil sides they try to control?)

Risk tortures Cyborg, hanging him from the ceiling after taking all his limbs off o_o He says that he doesn't want ne of Cyborg's parts to make up for his lost arm, but he just wants to hurt Cyborg cuz he's angry at the world >.>;;

Sun Girl tortures Miss Martian with fire while Inertia watches. Slade calls for them and they zoom off. o_O

With Sun Girl and Inertia, Deathstroke and Batgirl gain the advantage on Ravager and Jericho. :O Robin escapes from his bonds and injects Batgirl with anti-crazy serum XD

Cass comes to her senses, takes off her mask and declares she's going to KILL Deathstroke *sigh*

Review: Plz plz plz tell me that next issue will NOT have Robin or (more likely) Ravager talking down Batgirl from killing Slade :\

Why do I feel it will? :\

As I feared, it was Robin who "saves" Cass. And not even talking her down but conveniently having anti-crazy serum handy in his belt e_e

Altho I know that Cass might just be expressing anger about what Slade did to her, the big thing about this arc and all the outcry online has been about her killing. So if Johns meant her to say it as in "I'm gonna make him pay", this was the wrong way of doing it :\ And if Johns did it to shock readers and make them go "omg she's still killing!" then.. okay that worked but it's not to a positive effect :\

Lots happened in this book, but not a lot HAPPENED. :\ I felt like I was just watching ppl do things, but I felt nothing for the situation or story :( Also, it's dissapointing for Batgirl to be treated like she's a C-list character and rly not very important to what's going on :\

Watching Cyborg being hung like a piece of meat was very disturbing tho :| I know that he's okay, but watching somebody without limps being strung from a ceiling is ick D:

Why IS it all the girl heroes (Supergirl, Raven, Batgirl apparently now) who have these "crazy dark sides" that they need to control constantly, and if they "let their emotions go" they go all crazy and angsty and emo? :\

Nominee for worst dialogue of 2007:

Batgirl: I beat you before. I'm better than you.
Ravager: Let's find out for sure Bat-Bitch.

e_e

I feel like Johns was just instructed to "fix" Batgirl, and that aside from that, he's more focussed on other projects (like Action Comics and 52) to rly care too much about Teen Titans :\ Esp since this book has been so delayed. :(

That serum was very fast acting XD But serums seem to always be fast acting in these stories xD

Neways... I'm dissapointed in this book, and that this is clearly a Ravager story with some Robin thrown in, and all the other characters are just there to move the plot along :\

Slade is surprisingly okay for a man that was stabbed thru the chest o_O;;;

Angelwings Rating: 2 Crazy Homicidal Batgirls out of 5 Slightly-less Crazy Homicidal Batgirls :(
Recommendation: I dunno if I'd rly recommend this story. >.>;; Batgirl's more or less fixed, that's what this arc was important for honestly... and other than that this is a typical heroes vs villains fight :\

52 - #45 Review

52 - #45

Synopsis: Black Adam and the Marvel family participate in the funeral procession for Isis and Osiris :(

After the funeral, Renee approaches Adam and tells him she understands his pain. Adam gets angry at her but spares her life b/c of her friendship with Isis! :O

Black Adam tells her that she should take care of Intergang back at Gotham and flies off to Bialya which has given Death asylum :O

In Bialya, the president yells at Mannheim (the head of Intergang) for betraying them. :O Bialya has followed Intergang's "crime bible" philosophy in governing, and instead of being rewarded, they now have to harbour Death, who Black Adam is chasing :O

Black Adam attacks, killing everybody in his path as Death escapes! O_O

This attack causes other countries like China and America to rdy their forces in case Adam attacks them :O

Alan Scott, Mr. Terrific and Sasha Bordeaux of Checkmate await a UN resolution to step in and stop Adam. They worry that by the time it happens, it'll be too late :\

Amanda Waller prepares to recruit a new Suicide Squad of "one hundred strong" to stop Black Adam. o_o Atom Smasher refuses to help her, saying that if she doesn't pardon him, he'll tell Checkmate about the Suicide Squad and says that he's going to stop Black Adam seperately and with his own team. :O

Meanwhile, back in Bialya, Black Adam slaughters millions of ppl, military or otherwise looking for Death. D:

In China, the August Man in Irons tells his team, the Great Ten, that they have to be prepared to move against Black Adam. :o The Accomplished Perfect Physician and Thundermind disagree that they need to use violence and believe that Adam was provoked intentionally. Thundmind reveals that he knows that the Chinese government tried to have Black Adam killed and is shifting the blame elsewhere. August tells him that it doesn't matter and that the team must prepare for their biggest fight ever :O

Black Adam, having killed just about everybody in the country, finds Death who has grown strong off of all the killing! :O Adam fights Death visciously and uses the lightning from his transformation to strike Death down! :O

Adam tortures Death until he tells him who built him O_O;;;

On Oolong Island, the scientists realize that Black Adam is coming after them and panic, except for Dr. Sivana who welcomes the challenge of fighting a Marvel! :OOOO

Review: O_O;; This issue was very crazy! Poor Black Adam! :O Still, he killed lots and lots and lots of ppl D:

*sigh*

It's sad to watch characters I like do things like this :\

I def see how WW3 is starting tho, and how every country is now preparing to stop Black Adam from doing whatever he wants :O It's funny, that THIS would have made an excellent catalyst for Civil War, since this is exactly what ppl fear, that a Superhero, out of grief, or whatever else, would just abuse his powers. :O Black Adam's basically as strong as Superman, and right now he's unstoppable O_O;;

I think the issue was done well, esp the feeling of "omg" that everybody has, and it's kinda like when you know a storm is coming and you're preparing for it. o_o Seeing Waller desperately try to cobble together a force strong enuf to oppose Adam is eerie, since she's normally so composed and in control :O

I'm interested to see what Atom Smasher is trying tho! I have this fear that he'll be killed trying to reason with Black Adam :(

However, since this is a WAR, maybe Black Adam will have allies? :O Atom Smasher's allied with him before o_o It would be kinda one sided if it was just every hero vs Black Adam >.>;;

Where's Batman when you need him!? XD

Why isn't Captain Marvel doing nething? :\ Esp since he now has the power to banish Black Adam to some other realm (as he threatened to do 2 issues ago). Why isn't he doing this now? :O Or why isn't he at least stopping Adam since he was at the funeral and seems to genuinely care about him? :\

It's hard not to feel Black Adam's pain and rage :( But he's still not justified in exterminating an entire country D: Esp innocents that he could avoid killing :\

I wish Superman was here :( He's the perfect blend of compassion and power to stop somebody like this. :\

Or maybe Supergirl should attack him for being more angsty than her and getting more hits on his Livejournal than she does? XDDD

Neways... altho 52 is kinda losing the whole "real time" narrative lately, it's def very interesting! I can't wait to see waht happens next? :O

One question tho: what happened to Booster Gold, Dr. Rip Hunter and Skeets? o_O

Angelwings Rating: 4 out of 5 Black Adams
Recommendation: An important issue! :O Surprisingly very little violence and gore for a mass slaughter so it's not gross :)

Week of Mar 14, 2007 Super Short Reviews :D

Hi :)

I still can't find American Virgin #12 :( >:| I dunno where it went or why no store in Toronto seems to have gotten a shipment when it was supposed to arrive :\

Neways, I got 8 books this week :) I was pleasently surprised by many of them :D

So this is what I got ^-^ :

52 - #45
Gen 13 - #6
JLA Classified - #36
Martian Manhunter - #8 (of 8)
Spiderman Reign - #4 (of 4)
Superman - #660
Teen Titans - #44
Wonder Woman - #5

Neways, many of those issues surprised me :) But one of them dissapointed me :(

Still, the good issues outweighed the bad this week and made me happy ^_^;;

Here are my super short reviews :)

52 - #45 - Lots of fighting and violence and death :O This is clearly how WW3 starts, but you can't help but feel bad for Black Adam :( 4/5 Angelwings :)

Gen 13 - #6 - The character development seems to come out of left field XD But I still enjoyed this issue and I rly liked seeing the bad guy get what he deserved :) This opening arc has been shaky but I'm excited to see where we go from here :D 3/5

JLA Classified - #36 - This is a great issue and very fun :) It also makes me happy as a fangirl cuz it was all very logical and the bad guy gets punished at the end :D Also, whenever ppl work together against a common enemy, it makes me smile :D Also, my prediction for this issue was right! So was my sister's :O It's very fun that way :3 5/5 Angelwings of happiness :D

Martian Manhunter - #8 (of 8) - A surprisingly decent ending to this otherwise forgettable arc. :\ I like the happy ending and I always like when heroes and villains make friends with each other :D The ending line is fun too! 3.5/5

Spiderman Reign - #4 (of 4) - >.>;;; At least it's over XD This was prolly the best of the 4, but that's not rly saying much. :\ It's very confusing and there's a lot of death and violence in it :( I dun rly get what the POINT of this story was tho... it just seems to be a lot of flash and no substance :( 2/5

Superman - #660 - I rly enjoy these standalone Superman stories :) I think this is the best way to do Superman, with fun, light-hearted stories that dun take themselves TOO srsly :D This story focusses mostly on the Prankster and it rly makes us like him :D 5/5

Teen Titans - #44 - So Cass was fixed last issue, and now she's.. broken again? :\ Very dissapointing :( But I guess it's also expected since Johns, for better or for worse, has a very workmanlike way of doing his stories. :o Sadly, Cass comes out of this looking just as bad as before :( The rest of the story isn't very interesting either... :| 2/5

Wonder Woman - #5 - An interesting story :) It would have been a great standalone if they didn't have the cliffhanger ending which was totally unnecessary :( The "message" of this episode seemed very forced tho :\ However, at least they show that Diana inspires ppl :D And this issue wasn't delayed! :D 2.5/5

:O

Hmm, so it wasn't as good a week as I thought, but I think the two 5s rly made me like it :D

I'm always happy when I read a comic that seems to have it all and makes me happy :D

Kk... so my longer reviews are next :D

Bai! :D

The Mighty Avengers - #1 Review

The Mighty Avengers - #1

Synopsis: The new Avengers (Ms. Marvel, Ironman, Black Widow, Wonder Man, Sentry, Ares and Wasp), are sent to Manhatten to fight off an invasion of strange creatures! :O

A flashback to four hours ago, shows Ironman asking Ms. Marvel to become the leader of the new Avengers and to help him pick the new team :O

During their discussion, Ms. Marvel asks why they have to track down the rebel heroes, who she doesn't consider a threat, and Ironman says that if the Avengers dun then "they" will but doesn't specify who "they" are. o_o;;

As the Avengers fight the monsters, we're also shown how Ms. Marvel and Ironman decided on who was part of the team. :)

Wasp was picked b/c Ironman misses her and Carol considers her the best of the former Avengers. :)

Wonder Man was picked b/c Ms. Marvel considers him the second best Avenger.

Ms. Marvel is against picking The Sentry but Ironman overrules her saying that altho he has mental difficulties, he also has a lot of potential and Ironman wants to be there when he comes into his own. :]

Black Widow's chosen b/c Ironman believes that in this day and age you need a ninja on the team XD

While they are talking, all sorts of weird weather and volcanos are happening all over the world which Ms. Marvel finds odd >.>;;

Ironman still thinks they need a "Wolverine" and a "Thor" on the team, which gives Ms. Marvel an idea and she takes him to see Ares, who is working at a construction site o_o

After some macho arguing, Ironman and Ares reach an agreement that Ironman matches his construction pay and Ares joins the team. :o

Much fighting ensues, where the team gets to talk to each other while fighting. XD Ironman, who is in communication with SHIELD during the fight, realizes that the monsters and the weird weather phenomena are all connected and deduces that it's the Mole Man who is behind this :O

He wants to dive into the ground and get him, but Ms. Marvel orders him not to as he's their connection to the situation around the world, and tells Wonder Man to go :D

Wonder Man is caught by a giant hand from the ground however and hurled away! O_O;;; The Mole Man then appears and says that he warned ppl to stay out of his business and since they didn't, he's going to fight back!

Ms. Marvel says that they haven't done nething to him, but he says that they destroyed his home :O

Ironman then starts "melting" and warping, something the Mole Man says is not his doing :O

There's a huge explosion and when the smoke clears we dun see Ironman nemore, but a female Ultron :O

Review: Before I start my review, I just want to say that I dunno that much about the Marvel world. :o I know SOME, but much much less than I know about the DCU, so my opinions would be more of a general comic fans then a Marvel fangirl's :3 Just making sure ppl know where I'm coming from :D

I dunno who Ultron is, and even wiki-ing him (her now? XD) didn't help me much. :o So I dun rly know what the significance (if any) is of her popping out of Ironman's body (presumably? XD)

I also dunno who Ironman might be referring to when he says that "they" will apprehend the rebels if the Avengers dun. :o Maybe SHIELD? (there was a big SHIELD text behind Ironman when he said that line) or maybe the Thunderbolts? :O I dunno o_o Maybe something else is going on? :o

It's entirely possible that Ironman's actions lately have been b/c he knows something worse is threatening the world? :o

I rly dunno o_o

I do rly like that Ms. Marvel is the leader of the Avengers tho! :D I've always liked Ms. Marvel and I've always wanted to see her get a bigger role in stories :]

I also like how that they're moving beyond Civil War, in that these new Avengers aren't treated like "sell outs" or enforcers of the government or nething, and that it's just like reading any other story about good guys :)

The selection process was cute, tho I think some of the back and forth dialogue between Ironman and Ms. Marvel was a bit forced :\

I did giggle when Ironman said that they needed a ninja tho XD

I also liked how he described the Sentry. :O It's like picking a team for sports, and choosing somebody who is still a young player and isn't that good but has the potential to be a superstar :D And I like how he made that case ^-^

I rly like how the team interacts tho, and how they seem to get along but also are kinda new to working together? :O It's fun ^-^ And I like how Ms. Marvel is a good leader and willing to order Ironman around :]

I also like the use of thought bubbles and words to let us know what ppl are thinking instead of the "Dark Knight Returns" first person narration boxes that everybody and their dog seem to do now :\

Something DID confuse me tho :O According to the narration, Tony and Carol started to pick the team 4 hours before the fight with the monsters. :| It took them less than 4 hours to pick the team, talk to Ares, assemble the rest of the team, and then get them all to Manhatten to fight these monsters!? :O

That seems.. unlikely XD

The art by Frank Cho is in general pretty good :) Ms. Marvel looks very.. fluffy sometimes tho XD Esp her booty :O

Also I would never wear a costume cut that thin at the bottom :O I'd have to wax there every day to fight crime! :O What's with artists and wanting to draw as much of the pelvic area as they can? XD It's still not as bad as Ian Churchill with Supergirl tho! :O

In general, I was pleased with the art tho, and at least the legs are all pretty realistically proportioned and not like.. twice the size of the person's body :)

Given what turned me off from the recent Ms. Marvel series tho...

What's with Ms. Marvel and tentacles!? :O

XDD

I AM enjoying this book tho, at least the first issue neways ^^;; And I hope that they keep this team together for a while so we can get a feel for them and see if they rly click :)

Maybe I'd be more critical of the story if I knew more about the Marvel U? :o It's possible! XD But from just me as a comics fan, I enjoyed this one :)

Angelwings Rating: 4 out of 5 Ultrons
Recommendation: Ppl who are sick of Civil War and want to return to stories about superheroes saving the world will prolly enjoy this story :)

Superman/Batman #32 Review

Superman/Batman - #32

Synopsis: Confronted by Superman and Supergirl (who are under alien influence), Batman uses Kryptonite against them and escapes :O Superman melts the walls which are made out of lead with his heat vision and uses it to encase the Kryptonite o_o

Batman finds Plastic Man who is very hurt from the process Luthor used to try to take the Blackrock out of him. :O

Batman melds with the Blackrock and ignores the Alien call and goes to Gotham to wreak havoc :O

Supergirl suddenly has an angst attack where she says she wasn't sent to Earth for this reason (presumably she again is thinking about her dad sending her to kill Superman) and then flies into space. >.>;;

Superman goes to see Lois and Lois talks him back to his sanity. :|

Superman then goes to rescue Batman from the Blackrock. :o

Outside the Daily Planet, the various alien heroes that are under mind control gather. A hail of rocks falls from the sky and one of them hits Jimmy infecting him with Blackrock! :O

Review: o_o;;; This plot started off so interestingly and the last issue had so much packed into it with the promise of more that this issue was a bit of a let down :(

I was hoping for Batman to rally the human heroes together to try to stop the alien heroes. :O It would have been interesting to see. :|

But now Batman is infected with Blackrock? I dun even know why. It seems like Plastic Man infected him? But then Alfred said that Batman did it on purpose to survive fighting Superman. o_O That doesn't seem right tho. And Batman would never give himself over to evil just to "survive".

I was very amused tho when Supergirl had another trademark angst attack and she became SO ANGSTY THAT MIND CONTROL DIDN'T AFFECT HER NEMORE XD

I lurve it! XD

But yet she doesn't help Earth, which.. is also consistant with her character I guess e_e

Supergirl has a new power tho! Superangst!!! Which is still better than Superlandscaping XD

So are the alien invaders related to the Blackrock or are they just using it to infect humans? :O

I find it odd that the human heroes who use alien devices (like Blue Beetle) would be THAT controlled :|

Neways... not a lot happened this issue, which is dissapointing, not just cuz last issue promised a lot, but also b/c the book has been rly delayed D:

I hope that Superman frees Batman quickly and the story can pick up again :)

Angewlings Rating: 2.5/5
Recommendation: Not rly worth it to pick up if you're not a big fan of this arc or Superman/Batman in general. :o
