Synopsis: Nightwing and Robin fight while Nightwing tells Robin that the Lazarus pit only causes madness. Robin insists that he's just trying to get a sample to study. Nightwing says that it's wrong to try to bring ppl back to life, and Robin says that ppl come back to life all the time and he just wants to find a way to help his loved ones. >.>
Damian dresses as a ninja and sneaks aboard the White Ghost's plane. The White Ghost knows this and let's him b/c it'll make it easier to deliver Damian to Ra's. :o
More fighting ensues and then I-Ching interferes and beats them both up, telling Robin that he shouldn't bring back his loved ones, while telling Nightwing to let Robin make his own decisions. e_e
Robin scoops up a sample of the Lazarus water, and then throws it away and hugs Nightwing, crying into his chest (awwww xD)
They go outside while I-Ching destroys the pit (I can only giggle at how he plans to make the waters unusable xD) Talia shows up and says that they need to rescue Damian but that they'll never reach Nanda Parbat fast enuf. Suddenly Alfred appears with a plane and picks them up and flies them to Nanda Parbat. However there they find Ra's alrdy transferring his soul into Damian! :O
Review: Dear DC editorial staff. What did I just say about not being able to keep things straight within a single story arc!? >:|
So Robin wanted to join Ra's by stepping into the waters last issue, and now all he wants is a sample to study!? >:| Before his motivation was that Ra's was able to defy death even without the Lazarus pit (by turning into a spirit basically) and now it's simply to get a sample of the pit? e_e
If that's so, why did he even consider joining Ra's? Why did his thought boxes say that he needed to join Ra's? Why did he even need to tell the White Ghost that he wants to join Ra's if it was just a "trick" to get to the pit? It's not like it's HARD for him to access the pit and take a sample!
In fact I'm sure Batman has a 100 different Lazarus water samples in the cave! >:| I'd be SHOCKED if in all this time, Batman's never once analyzed what's in there! >:O
But now that Robin's not trying to join Ra's as much as just get water samples, why is Nightwing so adamant in stopping him? What's the HARM in just getting samples? At worse, they find NO way to bring ppl back to life, at best they find a way to do it without harming the person's sanity! xD But Robin's totally right! SO MANY PEOPLE have come back to life, why would it be so horrible to try to bring back Spoiler or Conner or Jack Drake? >.>;;
It's more editorial fiat (like the Booster Gold "omg you can't change certain events" thing) where they just want a quick and dirty way to give a reason why all the cans of worms they've opened previously with resurrections can't be applied to change deaths they want to keep permanent. >:| And instead of coming up with real good reasons why you can't ressurrect them (or reasons why a good guy WOULDN'T want to do it) they just kinda avoid it and are like "well it's bad!"
So if Robin found a way to bring people back that didn't make them insane, that'd be bad just cuz ppl shouldn't come back from the dead? o_O What about Donna Troy? Or Superman? Or Green Arrow, or Hal Jordan, or Ice? Should they be re-killed? >.>
And Nightwing telling Robin that Conner "wouldn't have a soul" if he brought him back was hilarious b/c Conner's a clone. xD Many ppl would argue that clones wouldn't have souls either. >.>;; And besides, so it's okay for Robin to try to reclone Conner but not okay for him to bring Conner back to life? >.>
So could he clone Stephanie too? Or would that be bad also cuz she wouldn't have a "soul"? xD
It just seems like a very arbitrary reason for Nightwing to try to stop Robin for. xD Now if Robin was still trying to join Ra's, yus that'd be bad, but Robin's not even committing to throwing Conner's dead body into the Lazarus Pit! He's just saying "I wanna take a sample to analyze it". Why would trying to get more knowledge be this awful thing that Nightwing wants to stop!? >.>
So illogical. xD
And what's with I-Ching? First he says he doesn't want to get involved, then he gets involved, then he claims he's not being involved, when he totally is! He told both of them what they should do and they did it! Without him doing that, they wouldn't have backed off! >:\ He should just stay out of it :D I think Tim and Dick could have worked this out on their own (and honestly in other portrayals they WOULD have, without even needing to fight).
And wtf, why can't Robin turn ebil? I guess a lot of ppl prolly figured it was a fake out b/c they'd be like "but then Tim's character would be ruined!" ORLY!? AND HOW DO YOU THINK BATGIRL FANS FEEL? It's okay to turn Cass ebil and make her look weak for choosing ebilness, but not Tim? :\ Personally it'd be way more interesting to me to have Robin be Ra's' sidekick for a few issues (or mebbe half a year to a whole year) and be this thorn in Batman's side and stuff rather than the "omg ebil dragon lady Cass" thing that made no sense. >.> PLUS Robin issues could then focus on Robin as an agent of Ra's and stuff and how he feels about it and it'd be neat to see from THAT pov for once. :D *sigh* Ebil Cass, a-ok, ebil Tim, no. >.>;; I wanna see an ebil slutty Tim tho walking up to like... Supergirl trying to seduce her xDDDD
Mo well :(
However, Talia is awesome and it's great to see her completely kick ass like this, esp given that she was so easily injured by ninjas the first time with Batman (in order to give Batman angst) :D
She is totally kick ass awesome and hot there :D See her costume's all ripped up showing her abs and it's clinging to her and her boobs are as big as her head, but I'm not complaining! xD She looks wicked cool :D She has muscle definition, she's confident, she's hurt, but continuing on, and she's focussed :D
*cheers* :]
I think everybody (feminist, anti-feminist, anti-anti-feminist, anti-anti-anti-feminist, pink elephants, etc) would prolly be happy with this image :D It's sexy, it's kick ass awesome, and it rly captures what the writer is trying to show about Talia ^^
Neways... so I guess Ra's is about to take over Damian's body? o_O WHY does he want it again? Is it cuz only Damian's body can hold his essence (ew xD)? If so, why is that? Is it b/c Damian is related to him? :o If so, why did he want to use Robin's body? Robin's not related to him at all! And even if he was trying to put stress on Batman (to choose a son), Batman would know that it'd make no sense for him to choose Robin as a host and would just have picked Damian to save, daring Ra's to go use another unsuitable host. xD
I still have no idea exactly what the circumstances of Ra's revival are or why he's a spirit apparently, and why he doesn't LIKE the ability to possess whatever body he wants :\ Also, why Damian is so important to him if it's not b/c of blood.
I wonder if ultimately he will take Damian's body tho? But since Damian's supposedly Batman in the future, mebbe he wun :o I guess Ra's will find SOME way to still be Ra's. Damian is far too young for him to look proper that way :\
I'm just dissapointed that this is 2 issues where barely nething happened when these should be the 2 most IMPORTANT issues since it's leading up to the final chapter. What happened could have been easily summed up in 1 chapter! Plus I have to agree with IGN that this probably seems to be caused by an insistance to stick to the title character of the book for each chapter (i.e. Robin has to be about Robin, Nightwing has to be about Nightwing). As they said, I'm sure nobody would get upset that a Nightwing book that was part 6 of 7 of the BATMAN story "The Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul" would involve Batman and the resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul. xDD
Neways, 1 more issue left :D The ONE good thing I'll say about this (besides that the beginning of the story was wicked awesome up until the last issue of Robin >.>) is that it's been coming out every week like clockwork and that's something a lot of "event stories" have not been able to do lately (The Sinestro War had to be altered and delayed and we got that stupid filler Ion vs SBP story, Infinite Crisis, Civil War and WWH all had big delays in it's publishing schedule, etc). :) This is an event that promised a certain schedule for it's story to be told in and delivered. :D It's sad that having books come out on time is now something special to be praised. xD
This story, btw gets an extra .5 of a point from the score I'd prolly give it, b/c of Talia :D YAY TALIA! :D
Angelwings Rating: 2 wafflely Robins out of 5 super awesome greats Talia Al Ghuls :D
Recommendation: Ppl following this arc should def check it out, but it's definitely a step down from the momentum this series had at the beginning. :\ However, I recommend this book to fans of Talia just for the last few pages :D

Wait, how does Nightwing know who gets a soul and who does not?
Batman told him :o
Batman is the shepherd of souls. He will weigh your soul against the weight of his dead parents, and if found wanting, will call you dense and retarded. ^_^
I didn't really mind the Sodam Yat issue, but I gots to say the padding of Sinestro Corp was really dumb. And it caused a critical story beat to be spoiled in CountDumb a month before the relevant GL issue. Hooray for editorial mandate...
BTW, that reminds me, I need to find a pic of Stuporboy Prime getting smacked around from that issue and lolcat "SODAMIZED!" onto it. I'm easily amused.
Here Owesome :) I scanned in all the panels of that issue where Sodam actually has the advantge over SBP xDD It's only 4 :\ SBP actually just completely owns him for most of it :(
Also I included the cover b/c I think that's the most "one sided" picture involving Ion beating SBP. :)

If needed I can get much bigger versions of any of those :)
So glad I chose to skip this one!
I always enjoy reading your stuff, Ami! Glad to have such a force for good in the comic booky world! :)
