>.>;;
I just got home from a goodbye party for a friend. :*(
On the subway back I was reading my comics and this old guys in a business suit next to me starts talking to me! :O First he asked if I read comics to learn English which already made me go o_O;;;
I like how he just assumed I couldn't speak English b/c I was Asian XDDD But then he kept asking me questions, like where I'm from >.>;; Where I live... trying to guess my height... then talking about my height (cuz I'm 5'9" and supposedly talk for an Asian e_e) then trying to get my name (apparently I look like a Gloria XDD)
NEWAYS
It was VERY creepy! >:|
And I quickly got away from him once my stop came. He kept bugging me for my email address too. >.>;;
This happens to me a surprising lot tho! :O But not usually with men hitting on me XD Tho everybody thinks they can just sit next to me and start talking to me about China or Japan or Korea. :\ Once a woman just started telling me that she had a neighbour who was Korean. >.>;; And I'm like... why are you telling me this? XD
I just dunno why my race is such fascinating discussion!
NEWAYS >.>
Moving on :D
Today was supermegacrossoverweek! >:|
Everything was crossovers! :( *sighs* I miss my regular stand alone comics. :(
So here's what I got :D
Amazons Attack - #3 (of 6)
Blue Beetle - #16
Countdown - #44
Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special - #1 (one-shot)
Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes - #31
Teen Titans - #48
Wonder Woman - #10
Except for Legion of Superheroes, everything was a tie-in. :( Blue Beetle ties in with Countdown, Titans and Wonder Woman ties in with Amazons Attack. :\
Oh! I'm getting VERY annoyed at how DC is leaving GAPING PLOTHOLES in their books to force you to read other books. I'm OKAY with having tie-ins that explain plot points in MORE DETAIL, but not when the plot points aren't even mentioned at all in the main book! >:|
Now I have to read the Flash and Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters!?
No thx. >.>;;;
Neways here are my super short reviews :)
Amazons Attack - #3 (of 6) - Things are just happening now. It's hard to follow the story b/c it's being told in a hundred different books! >:| Oh and there's a Countdown crossover too :( And the US government is being bad too! YAY! It's Civil War also! >.>;; Amazons Attack is almost like a manual on everything that's wrong with Crossovers. :\ On the bright side there's finally some implication that all is not as it seems. :) I hope they somehow save the Amazons reputation at the end of this :( 1.5/5
Blue Beetle - #16 - Eclipso! Traci 13! :O This is sort of a cute book XD But there's far too much going on and not enuf explanation as to why it's going on or who the ppl involved are. :( However, the book is worth it just for the scene where Jaime becomes his ultimate power fantasy! XDDD 3/5
Countdown - #44 - Countdown is SOOOO on the bubble for me. :\ It's just getting to the point where I'm rdy to drop it. :( Things keep happening, but the story telling is just so convoluted and jumpy. :\ Also, it's just so inaccessible to new readers AND current readers unless you're reading EVERY SINGLE DC book! I'm reading MANY, and I'm still lost b/c I'm not reading ALL of them >:| 2/5
Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special - #1 (one-shot) - Another crossover mega-event! :o However this is a promising start! :D I have only one problem and that's what happened to Kyle Rayner. >:| But still... this is a very Geoff Johns crossover, like Infinite Crisis where he has a lot of "big moments" to make the event seem important, and it DOES work :D Also even tho the big reveal at the end is a bit illogical, it's incredibly satisfying in a fangirl sort of way :D 4/5
Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes - #31 - AMI WINS! :D I WAS RIGHT! :D *does the I was right dance* XDDD Hehehehehe :D And everybody was predicting something else! :3 Neways! I miss Waid and Kitson :( The art is not bad, but not nearly up to Kitson's standards. :( The writing is off too. :\ The characters are no longer loveable and charming and they're all too eager to get mad at each other, but not in the fun way as before. :( Also Supergirl's character has undergone another personality shift under Bedard. :\ It's nowhere near Kelly tho, so this is promising since Bedard is taking over Supergirl. :) 3/5
Teen Titans - #48 - The Teen Titans fight each other! Again >.>;; This hero vs hero stuff is getting so old! This is all about Amazons Attack and Supergirl. :\ *sigh* Neways, this issue is rly a lot of fighting. :( 1.5/5
Wonder Woman - #10 - Jodi Picoult completely doesn't get Wonder Woman and I'm glad she's leaving the book. :D Everybody acts out of character again and events here seem to contradict the events in Amazons Attack, which is weird since Amazons Attack tells you to read Wonder Woman to find out what happened! >:| *sighs* 1/5
>:|
I JUST WANT ALL THESE EVENTS TO STOP!!!!!!!!! PLEASE GO AWAY!!!!!!!!
Amazons Attack, Monitors Attack, Sinestro Attacks! *sighs* This is building up to another Infinite Crisis event. :( This is similar to the 4 mini-series before Infinite Crisis happened, except THAT was done in a cohesive manner and we were told what they were building up to. This is just chaos. It's not CONTROLLED chaos, and if it's DC's plan to throw the DCU into chaos for a year without telling fans and then springing an event to make it all make sense it's a bad plan. :( At least before we knew that the darkening of the universe, the OMACs, etc were learding towards Infinite Crisis which would resolve it all.
However, now DC is just having event after event and if fans dunno that there's a plan, they'll start getting tired of it. Like I am. >:|
Esp since DC is planning ANOTHER year long weekly series after Countdown! Which is making me want to drop Countdown just so I dun encourage them >:\
I might start reading Marvel again since World War Hulk is actually quite good (so far) and Amazons Attack + Countdown is just making my brain explode :(
Neways, longer reviews coming later :D

I was planning on getting Wonder Woman, but I paged ahead in the shop and saw that it resolves in...Amazons Attack! I thought Picoult's story, for all its faults, would be fairly self contained, since it was promoted as a "prestige" run -- but instead she's thrown in the crossover meatgrinder with everyone else! I can't imagine how they convinced her to write five issues of a comic that don't even tell a complete story.
As for Countdown, this was the first issue I skipped. Reading it in the store (and skipping the Monarch/Forerunner hoo-hah) made it SO much more palatable.
