Synopsis: Forerunner beats up Jason Todd and then Donna intervenes, but when she hits Forerunner, it hurts her fist and makes her scream like Vegeta XD
Meanwhile, Jimmy Olson decides to talk give some exposition about the New Gods and Apokolips for newer readers under the rly flimsy guise of taping notes on a recorder for his "story". >.>;;
Much fighting ensues between Donna and Forerunner. o_O;;
Holly talks to the old man she rescued but is approached by a MYSTERIOUS STRANGER. o_O
Forerunner beats up Donna but suddenly good!Monitor appears! :O good!Monitor tells Forerunner that she's a mistake created by bad!Monitor and that she can't harm the Monitors. They also talk about ancient battles and other stuff that make only sense to them but not us. >.>
The Monitor leaves with Donna and Jason. The other Monitors watch and suddenly are against using violence and Forerunner despite wanting to do it an issue earlier. o_O The bad!Monitor is now being yelled at by the other Monitors who 2 issues again just supported him and rallied to his cause. XD
Karate Kid, Dream Girl and the other Legionnaires from JLA are talking to Dr. Midnite on the satellite and complaining about being held captive. Dr. Midnite tell them that they're just worried that they've been sent back in time to do something bad. >.>;;
Despite hating her and finding her dangerous and ebil, good!Monitor doesn't take Forerunner with him or nething when he leaves. Forerunner is all upset about what good!Monitor said to her and she says some other stuff about her past adventures that mean nothing to us. :\ She then rips off her ponytail saying that it severs their physical link to the Monitors and that she'll remain on Earth. Monarch (Captain Atom) watches her and says she's valuable. >.>
Review: o_O I completely forgot that Captain Atom became Monarch (again). :\ Or is it "again"? XD I know they changed it for Zero Hour, but apparently in Extreme Justice he became Monarch? >.>;;
Neways! So yus! Monitors! Monarch! I bet Extant and Parallax are going to be showing up too now! :\ Apparently Parallax IS showing in the Sinestro Corps war tho? :O
*sighs*
So many mini-series. :\
Worse yet, it seems like everything old is new again. :| EVERYTHING! Golden, Silver, Bronze/Byrne and crazy extreme 90s. >.>;;
Including characters better left forgotten like Sleez. :\ Honestly, this IS continuity porn. :| Just like how regular porn has a very thin plot and hollow characters simply to give it's readers 100% unfiltered not-from-concentrate smex, continuity porn is the same way but with retro plots and characters instead of smex. :\
It's just OMG LOOK AT THIS! MONITORS! MONARCH! SLEEZ!
The Jimmy Olson recap at the beginning was horrible. :\ I expected better from Dini who usually knows how to insert a flashback or give information to the reader without being so blatant. :( Like... basically Jimmy just said "I'm going to talk into this tape recorder and I'm going to talk about the past in case my readers dun understand". :\
And after that it was pure exposition. >:|
ANOTHER MYSTERIOUS STRANGER!
I'm tired of all the "OMG WHO CAN THAT BE" stuff in Countdown. :\ I bet it'll turn out to be Extant. XD
The Monitors are weird! First they supported bad!Monitor, and now they dun. :\ They were the ones who sent Forerunner in the last issue, NOT bad!Monitor, and now they criticize him for her actions. o_O;;;
I DUN EVEN KNOW WHO FORERUNNER IS! They just talk about her and her people and their history and various wars in the past like we SHOULD know what's going on!
>.>;;
She's also the typical "warrior" character who cares all about honour and a worthy fight and stuffs which seems to have become quite popular since Worf. XD
Donna using a gun to fight Forerunner is weird and silly. XD It's ALSO weird that after Forerunner taunted Donna to call for help, she doesn't. :O Why not? :O There are lots of other heroes around! Even if they are fighting the Amazons (which for some reason appears not to affect their fight right in the middle of Washington DC), they can still help!
Oh! And Donna gets THIS wonderful line:
Oh I fully intend to give you an old-school beat-down. I'm just saying on top of it all, that you're full of crap.
o_O
When did Donna become Nightwing!? o_O That's a NIGHTWING line, not a Donna Troy line! XD
Or maybe they've just been hanging around each other too much. :\
But that's just it. The dialogue is so out of place, and the characterization is just.. like.. gone. XD Countdown is just one big mess of bad continuity, confusing plotlines, bad characterization, inconsistancies and Monitors, lots and lots of Monitors!
I just refuse to believe that BAD WRITING is done on "purpose" in order to fulfill some larger goal of a messed up multiverse that needs fixing. :\
Continuity errors, maybe. Bad dialogue and characterization? No. >:|
Monitors, Monarch, Parallax oh my!
Since apparently Parallax IS returning? =_=;;
It's like 80s and 90s crossover hell. >.>;;
*sighs*
I rly wanted to like this series. I rly did! But it's just... so bad!
I might end up dropping it. It IS costing me 3 dollars a week. :\
Angelwings Rating: 1 Vegeta!Donna Troy out of 5 Forerunners
Recommendation: There's still nothing about Countdown that makes it worth investing in. >:|

This was my last issue. From here on out, it's flip-throughs at my comics shop. To buy the rest of the series is $135 -- and I'm sure I can come up with something I'd rather spend $135 on.
donna's line about beating the crap out of forerunner didnt strike me as out of character so much as it struck me as really contrived and cheesy...i do enjoy the story being told in countdown, but the execution of that story is getting increasingly train wreckish.
