Week of Feb 7, 2007 Comics and Super Short Reviews ^-^

Hi ppls! :D

Teh Ami is reporting in for another week of comicy goodness! :] Today was an okay day for comics with some rly good issues and.. Supergirl XD

Also Nightwing, but shockingly, it's not that bad!

*shock*

Neways, so this is what's on tap today! :D

52 - #40
Action Comics Annual - #10
The Atom - #8
Detective Comics - #828
Nightwing - #129
Supergirl - #14

So yah, 6 comics today :) But one was a big 48 page special!

I was pretty pleased in general so here are the super short reviews! :)

52 - #40 - An excellent issue that concluded the Luthor Everyman project arc! The writing is a bit cliched, but the drama more than makes up for it and I very much like how it ended :) I'm glad that we're finally seeing storylines wrap up :D Angelwings Rating: 4/5

Action Comics Annual - #10 - Several good short stories, all of which carry the creative stamp of Geoff Johns and Richard Donner. :) Many seem to explain various things about the Superman books that we've been wondering about, which is good, including revising some of his origins. I personally thought the last story about Zod was extremely well written. :) Angelwings Rating: 4/5

The Atom - #8 - An excellent end to the Atom's second adventure! I rly enjoyed this story and I love how the new Atom is portrayed and how he doesn't just solve his problems with improbable fistfights :) Angelwings Rating: 5/5

Detective Comics - #828 - Another great offering from Paul Dini, this story is more of a mystery than other recent ones, and I think the current Riddler is great and I hope he stays this way for a long while. :D The characterization is spot on, and the dialogue is excellent. ^-^ Angelwings Rating: 5/5

Nightwing - #129 - This one actually wasn't so bad XD Esp compared to previous Nightwing issues. :] I'm not so interested in the new villains, but Dick finally gets to talk with Bruce and is actually moving on with his life. :) In general, this could be a good start to rebuilding Nightwing as a series. Angelwings Rating: 3/5

Supergirl - #14 - Hmm... I dunno how to feel about this book. On one hand, it's pretty bad, and continues the same old same old carp we've been getting lately. On the other hand, it seems to be hinting at a better, more compassionate Kara to come. :) And that's good. The characterization of Batgirl is ALL wrong, even with the whole mind control thing thrown in. Is she working for Deathstroke or did he just turn her "evil" and that's all? :\ So confusing :| Neways, not so great. Angelwings Rating: 2/5

So yus, there we go. :) Many good stories this week! I highly recommend the two 5 issues tho. :D

In depth reviews coming up!

What is interesting is that when you said "on tap" - I pictured you turning a tap and pouring out rainbows and comics.

Mostly rainbows.
