Week of Feb 14, 2007 Comics and Super Short Reviews ^-~

Hi ppls! :)

I'm back for my weekly super short reviews! This was SUCH a weird week for comics o_o No less than 4 books were making me go WTF!? O_O;;;

Yus complete with the face XD

I include Spiderman Reign #3 in this week too b/c altho it came out last week, my comic store didn't stock it until this week (that or I missed it while looking thru the shelves last week which is very possible too!!!!!!! XDDD)

So let's get down to what I bought! :D

52 - #41
Batman - #663
Gen 13 - #5
JLA Classified - #34
Manhunter - #28
Martian Manhunter - #7 (of 8)
Spiderman Reign - #3 (of 4)
Superman and Batman vs. Aliens + Predators - #2 (of 2)

Kk... so now let's move onto the Super Short Reviews! :D

52 - #41 - Altho it wasn't that interesting, it did give us movement in the Starfire/Adam Strange plot, and some rly nice character moments between the two. :) Also more about Renee, and maybe her future isn't as clear cut as most fans are predicting? :o I liked it for the most part :) Solid, if unspectacular. An appearance by Wonder Woman doesn't hurt either XD 3/5

Batman - #663 - W.T.F. That's more or less my reaction to this XD It's written in a novel format, so no panels, no word bubbles, just text. There are also illustrations in 3d, but they look like somebody just used Poser to do it. And it doesn't look like they did a very good job in many parts :( It was creative, so I give points for that, but the writing was WAYYYY too chock full of similes (almost every other line was a long run-on simile) and the characterization seemed off. :\ It appears to be canonical so does that mean the Joker rly is totally different now!? :o I dunno :( I personally didn't like it, but some ppl might enjoy the change in style :) 2/5

Gen 13 - #5 - I still dun rly care that much about this new Gen 13 b/c I still dunno the characters. I still feel like you need to have read the original to rly appreciate this, and I think that's bad for what should be a clean reboot (i.e. ppl can jump on and understand). Still, I think it's a fun book and I enjoy the themes that Ms. Simone touches on. :) I think there's a rly good idea in there and that with more issues to grow this story could rly flourish :D 3/5

JLA Classified - #34 - This is a hilarious story XD I can't decide whether this story is absolutely brilliant or just insane.. or maybe both? :O It's definitely creative and the writers are obviously huge DC fanboys/girls who rly are enjoying the ability to write without consequences to the regular timeline. :] The characterization seems kinda odd, but then again the circumstances were very odd too XD I would recommend it just for the insanity. :) 4/5

Manhunter - #28 - Hmm... this book is hard for me to judge as I dunno all the characters that well. Still, I enjoyed it, but I miss the legal drama from the previous issue. :( Batman makes an appearance which is always a plus. :) No mysteries are solved tho. :\ And the end, altho logical, still is kinda a Deus Ex, cuz now we know how Diana will escape punishment. :o 3/5 DC you better not cancel this book. >.<;; Even it's off issues are 100x better than the best issues of Supergirl! >:O

Martian Manhunter - #7 (of 8) - I'm still not rly enjoying or not enjoying this series. :\ Things are happening, but I find it hard to care. :| I dun get why this "new and edgy" J'onn would still be around if he experienced what happened in this issue. Why would he still be edgy? Wouldn't he just go back to old nice J'onn? o_O Everything about the plot still feels forced :( 2/5

Spiderman Reign - #3 (of 4) - I'm getting rly tired of this book. This isn't Dark Knight Returns, even if it tries to be. While Batman inspired a hopeless city thru his actions, Spiderman inspires them thru his in-action. Ppl stand up for themselves cuz they realize their hero is too weak to stand up for them. >.>;; I dunno.. but I'm tired of the sad pathetic Spiderman. :( Plus... yah... this isn't a spoiler nemore with the outcry on the internet. Radioactive Spiderman... ejaculate? EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW Plus he kissed a corpse. >.>;; 1/5

Superman and Batman vs. Aliens + Predators - #2 (of 2) - This book was insane XD I was rly lost about what was going on. Everything seems so crazy. Characterization is all off and even the characterization established in the last issue is thrown right out the window! XD However, it IS a lot of fun. Loads XD So I still liked it :) Just dun expect too much from it and you'll enjoy it :] 4/5

So yah... that's it. :o I get the feeling I might come under fire for not rly liking Batman, but it's a style thing. I felt that Morrison was trying too hard to be "different" and his writing was just so... headache inducing... >.<;; Enuf with the similes! Similes do not automatically = good writing! I just came away with the feeling that it was a lot of flash and very little substance... the characterization was bad, and I worry if this is the new improved Joker. :\

Still, I was quite amused by all the insanity in today's batch. :]

In depth reviews coming up! :D
