Nightwing - #128
Synopsis: Nightwing heads back to the cemetary where he was buried last issue, trying to find I-Pod guy, but he gets a call from his tech guy that Raptor is back :O Meanwhile, the 3 ex-LexCorp project heads have fixed the Raptor suit which supposedly doesn't have the flaws the first one did. They send him out for a test run so that they can tape it and show their potential buyers.
Nightwing fights Raptor, and the scientists working with the project heads realize that the reason they couldn't find the flaw in the Raptor suit was b/c it wasn't there until the person using it discharges the weapons. When they do fire the weapons, the suit leaks, causing radiation to flood into the person's body! :O
Finding no way to penetrate the suit, Nightwing forces the Raptor pilot to fire on himself, rupturing the suit and killing the person. :O However, it turns out that lucky for him, the pilot had died from the radiation poisoning and not the blast. o_o;;
The project heads get a call from their buyer and they try to weasel their way out saying that there have been some problems and that they'll cut the price as a gesture of good faith. However, the buyer turns out to be none other than Lex Luthor himself! Lex informs that they he doesn't like ppl stealing from him and the only reason that he kept them alive was b/c he was hoping to get the suit back! He then activates a bomb that destroys the whole floor of the building, killing everybody there. :OOO
Meanwhile, the family of the original Raptor grieves for him at his burial plot, but his wife is relieved that her husband wasn't a murderer and it was the project heads who were killing the ppl to try to recover the suit. :| However, his son still hates him and walks off. Nightwing promises to keep an eye on him. While walking down a street, the boy is asked by a lady in an S&M type bridal outfit what the time is. He answers and she seems pleased.
Behind her, in a room, out of sight of the boy, is a woman tied up and gagged. :O The "bride" says that there's less than a minute and she wonders how "groom" is doing with his kill. :O
Nightwing stands atop a rooftop and finally decides that the most important thing in his life now is that he's still alive, even tho he should have died during Infinite Crisis, and that he must never give up. :O
Review: Blegh. At least this plotline is over. :\ I was hoping that with Wolfman writing Nightwing, he'd finally get a decent story, but this story has been as bad as the last one! Now he's getting beaten up by mysterious ppl wearing I-Pods!
Last issue was silly enuf with this I-Pod guy coming in and thoroughly trouncing Nightwing (who was trained by Batman!) and then burying him alive. And Nightwing wasn't even tied up! He was just lying there being buried and too scared to fight back!!!
I joked with my sister that Nightwing does a good job hiding his identity XD Dick Grayson is a brave, fearless acrobat while Nightwing is this cowardly, fearful individual who apparently can't beat the villain of the week. XD
And this villain doesn't even show up again! And apparently wun be in the next arc either! So who is he? Apparently he knows Nightwing's identity and can beat him, but he's not important or interesting enuf to show up again? >:O
I fear that by the time he returns, I wun be buying Nightwing. In fact I might stop with this issue now that the plot is over. This new "bride" and "groom" killer duo dun seem interesting at all. :|
I never understood why ppl who can figure out Nightwing's identity can't figure out Batman's considering once you figure out that Dick Grayson, former Robin and former ward of Bruce Wayne is Nightwing, then it wouldn't be hard to figure out that Batman is Bruce Wayne. :|
And Nightwing killed somebody! Like, yah, it's convenient to say that the guy was alrdy dying from the radiation of the suit, but if he WASN'T then Nightwing just killed him! >:O
Nightwing and Supergirl rly should just like.. get it on... and marry or something >.>;;; Both are being written SO horribly and have become these whiny, dislikable characters. :(
Considering how every issue now seems to be about Nightwing thinking about the women in his life, I think my sister is right that he's becoming Spiderman. XD He's even being drawn to move like Spiderman XDDD
Altho my sister thinks Jurgens is a terrible artist that never grew from the 80s, I dun hate him. I think his art is a little stale sometimes, esp since Dick Grayson looks like Jurgens' Superman, but I think the art is prolly better than this book deserves. :|
What rly bothers me tho is I feel gypped. :\ This arc finished without tying up the loose ends that were raised when Wolfman started this book. Namely:
1) Dick Grayson needing a new job.
2) The 2 girls that showed up in his life. Neither of which factored into the last 2 issues.
3) Who is that I-Pod guy!? :O
So yah, maybe they're hoping to string us along for more issues with those questions, but they're not interesting enuf for me to keep reading just for that. :( I might be done with Nightwing now. We'll see. :
Angelwings Review: 1/5 I-Pod Assassins
Recommendation: Not worth it even if you were following the plot

Poor Dick Grayson. As the years past he seems to get further and further away from the charecter that he once was. I still remember back when he was Robin, and how being shot in the arm by the Joker made Bats fire him. Back then he was in search of himself, his own way of doing what he did so well. It was turning into Nightwing that showed his break from the Batman's way of thinking. Since then, although they have reconciled more in the past few years, they have not been as close as they once were.
I hope eventually one of threse writers finds the Nightwing that was so exciting back in Teen Titans. Until then this title just isn't worth the cover price.
